Will Hit 30 years as a RN this year in May at age 54. Will be looking to retire at 57 in 3 more years if everything goes to plan and then likely just work PRN jobs from time to time.

I’m still clinging to hope that my agency is the one agency they don’t want to fail.
And in banks across the world
Christians, Moslems, Hindus, Jews
And every other race, creed, colour, tint or hue
Get down on their knees and pray
The raccoon and the groundhog neatly
Make up bags of change
But the monkey in the corner
Well he's slowly drifting out of range

Word was that selection was made to replace our CFO and it was from outside the agency, but the selection got canceled when trump rescinded all gov employment offers and started the hiring freeze. Right now our Deputy CFO is acting but she's not a SES.
Who can direct hire that high? I can only speak to where I am, but anything at a GS-13 or higher equivalent has to be filled competitively and someone from the street is almost certainly never getting past the “I submitted a package” stage.

I’m not saying it’s impossible to happen, as it seems to have happened in your org. But it’s incredibly rare.

And for good reason - it’s to stop people from just appointing / hiring loyalists. :)
It could have been someone within another gov agency, I'm not sure since the name was never released. I just know they were from outside NASA. The procurement SES at HQ came from DOD and she has everything Fucked up royally. Instead of taking the most efficient method to fund a contract (my method which is the reason I got my Silver Snoopy award), She wants to do things the most inefficient means possible...,must be a DOD thing. But I digress....

That's what we keep saying also, although SLS is not looking good. Probably be funneling money to musk and SpaceX

Boeing informs employees that NASA may cancel SLS contracts

The question is whether Musk will stick with SLS through Artemis II and III. Highly unlikely to fly any missions beyond those two.
