2 random thoughts.

1. A great band name would be Chafe my Willy. ...Probably taken

2. I used to be fast when Id be i na checkout line waiting and someone would say "Line so-n-so is open if you want to come over here. ...Not today. Some small elderly asshole man behind me zipped past me and the lady who was in front of me to get up there. I started to say something but ..A- didn't want to lose my now next in line status....B- didn't feel like fussing.......C- didn't want to call myself out as being slower than an old man.

Mathematically I believe you're more likely to be served first by staying where you are, assuming relatively equal conditions. Obviously that changes if they're letting the fifth guy in line switch lanes in front of shoppers two-through-four.

When I'm in this situation I usually tell the person behind me to go. I did that a couple of months ago and I think the cashier in the other lane got mad at me, but I couldn't tell through masks.

Comes down to the speed of the clerk + chatting + problems - how much of a hurry people are in.

I like karma. I believe in karma. If some has one or two items and I have a buggy I motion for them to go in front of me. Im in no hurry now days. If its a girl and she is cute then double karma points :)

Im also the one you are blowing your horn at because Im letting someone out in traffic if theres a line behind me.

Im a nice guy. And I never finish last.....unless you were my wife. Because Im a nice guy.

Yahoo
One of Silicon Valley’s most infamous entrepreneurs, Elizabeth Holmes, is scheduled to stand trial on Aug. 31 to defend accusations that she used her biotech startup, Theranos, to commit criminal fraud.

Holmes, 37, once proclaimed the youngest female self-made billionaire — and featured in Yahoo Finance’s new documentary "Valley of Hype," streaming on Yahoo Finance starting Aug. 30 — faces federal charges of wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud tied to the collapse of the blood-testing company.

Jury selection is slated to begin Aug. 31, and opening statements are scheduled for Sept. 8.

A central question at trial will be whether Holmes and her former romantic partner and co-defendant, ex-Theranos president and COO, Ramesh "Sunny" Balwani, used Theranos to intentionally defraud private investors into backing the venture, and intentionally defraud patients into purchasing unreliable blood tests.

I really hate buy one, get one deals. I only want one box of Hamburger Helper, but it's "save $2 if you buy four" and I feel like I'm leaving noodles on the table. Who needs four boxes of Hamburger Helper?! Who am I, Michael Shannon in Take Shelter?

I watched a movie last night on Netflix called The Outpost in Afghanistan. The sounds of the bullets coming in was so realistic I started having flashbacks.

So I just had groceries delivered from Walmart and they sent me 54 muffins I didn't order. Six boxes. Plus a golden loaf cake.

Customer service says to keep them for the day just in case they send someone back for them. Otherwise I guess I'll send them to the office or leave them in the apartment laundry room. :?

What? No. Are you crazy?

But I mean, they're shrink-wrapped and everything.

I should specify it's a smallish 6-story building and the laundry room is on the ground floor (not on the basement or something) and very well maintained by our obsessive superintendent. I don't know the neighbours very well though. It's probably not something I should do without asking.

I have been approached by a nature spirit taking the form of a wombat (they're larger than you think). It calls itself Drogombo. It's made a horrible mess of the kitchen looking for things to eat, but says it won't leave until I accept its bargain, which I suspect has a hidden, dark consequence. But every time I ask what I have to do, it's either nowhere to be found or clanging pots and other kitchen implements so loudly it doesn't hear me. I'm frankly exhausted by the whole ordeal.

This is kind of a crazy story. ESPN got duped into airing a prime-time HS football game featuring an absolutely terrible team, mainly because they flat-out lied about who the school was.
In the midst of college football and the NFL ramping up, it’s also time for good old high school football! For the last few days, ESPN has been airing seven high school football games as part of their GEICO ESPN High School Kickoff, with the last game of the weekend slated to be high school powerhouse IMG Academy’s second game of the season.

IMG Academy’s opponent? A small school named Bishop Sycamore, an online charter school from Ohio. If that school doesn’t ring any bells, you’re not alone here. And yet, Bishop Sycamore played IMG Academy — likely the No. 1 high school team in the country — on ESPN’s main channel on Sunday, and were destroyed 58-0.

How did we get to this point, you ask? Well apparently, Bishop Sycamore lied its way into this game by stating they had D1 prospects (they don’t) and naming players who don’t even go to the school in their press release.
Bishop Sycamore has only had a football program for two years, they went 0-6 last year, and got outscored 227-42. And yet they find themselves on national television against maybe the best team in the country.

Feels like a "when you lie on your resume but get the job" meme come to life.
When darkness veils the world, four Warriors of Light shall come.

For the past three years we've been paying the gas bill of the apartment above us. And they have been paying ours. We found it because "our" gas bill was high while we weren't in town. It has been quietly fixed and for various reasons no one is going to tell the current occupant of the other apartment.
