Do not mess with the Postmaster General!

Is your mailbox on a 4 x 4? If so, couldn't you just saw it off and insert a 5" piece? maybe it's something your stepson could handle?

The post is none too sturdy in there anyways. If not for that I might have just sawed 2X4s and stacked them under the mailbox high enough.

My new mail carrier sucks. Sometimes I dont get the mail at all thats been mailed. Other times my neighbor brings me my mail. And if I get mail its bills or junk anyways. Plus he may run from 11am - 4pm . I miss our old carrier. She was always reliable and on time every day. Same time every day is nice.

Not sure it's fair to blame your carrier for the content.

We've been very lucky with our carriers, but then I always try to get to know them on a first name basis, wave to them on my morning walk, and give them a present on the holidays.

I've never been able to and don't think anything about it. It took about thirty years of marriage for this subject to come up with my wife. She thinks I'm very, very odd this way. And other ways too, but this particularly.

+1. My carrier's name is Steve, and he even knows my cat's name. I went to to his fundraiser when he had cancer and he gave Curio City home pickup service for years, saving me from schlepping literally thousands of boxes to the post office. Thanks to him I have nothing but praise for USPS.

Man Home Depot has some weird purchasing rules. I figured instead of going some place and paying full price for a air compressor Id go to Home Depot today and use the rest of my store credit I have on the card they gave me then pay the difference in cash since it would be very little. But nope cant do that. They dont have the cheap one I want in store. Its online only. But I cant use my card online since its a store refund credit gift card thingy. So I asked if they could ship the compressor there and then let me pay for it in store. Nope cant do buckaroo.

So NO SALE. Good job HD. Ill go to Harbor Freight and get one there at full price. HD wanted $99 for their 3 gal AC. HF wants $49.

There are two regular USPS carriers in our neighborhood, and they both know my dog. They give him treats when I encounter them while dog walking.

When the mail comes our door, Dog barks in his "Hey give me a treat" way, not his "Get Off My Lawn" way.

If you bury your stepson under the mailbox you can probably mound the dirt up somewhere between 4 and 9 inches.

Ok follow along with me if you can. For all I know Im typing this out wrong. Even as I type it feels like déjà vu.

Ok Ive been taking some cough medicine to sleep better. It works. But had a bit too much tonight I think as my brain is sending me on a rabbit hole to the past.

It started out with me just watching clips of the movie The Frighteners. Then in the comments I see "they tried to act like they took the women from me and I was making clips of my life but the doctor is not shanna ..." For some reason that rings a bell for me. Faded memory or deeply forgotten something. Anyways I ended up finding an At Home With the Webbers trailer. The weird part is I dont remember this tv movie at all! Its not fired a atom in my brain since the day it was on tv. Yet with this medicine Im suddenly remembering the exact phrases from the trailer word for word. Its like Ive been using them myself.



And that led me down another hole to the weirdest one. Ive not seen this show in 47 years. I was 5 the last time I would have saw this. Not a single thought on it in all those years. But with this cough medicine in me my brain pops up meo mio...I can hear it in my head. I look it up and it was a show in 1974 called Mio Mao. 2 claymation stop motion cats that simply make noises. And I can 'remember' all those sounds suddenly. Its freaky. Most would say its just the medicine playing tricks on me. But I thought of these paths and found this stuff not the other way around. Somehow this shit has stimulated memories from when I was 5 years old and younger like down to toddler times. Must still be in my head just never had access to them.

Its like one giant ass deja vu. A glitch in the matrix if you will.

Got an email today from the boughtmilk class action finally going to be paid out. Ill be getting $7.51 it seems. I had forgotten about joining that honestly. The only one I check on sometimes is the google+ one. But hey $7.51 is better than nothing. Said more joined than they thought would so payouts are less. I figured that. Lawyers are the only ones to ever make bank on class actions.

I either did something to address an issue that's been bothering me for over a year -or- I've just made a huge mistake. I guess we'll see, but if I suddenly disappear, I've left instructions.

If the postmaster general suddenly decided that you, specifically, were santa claus, and started delivering that mail to you.

Is there anything you could do to stop it?

Im watching an ep of the 80's Dungeons & Dragons cartoon. Its titled Day of the Dungeon Master. DM makes Eric a DM and gives him all the powers along with it. Geebus they are a sorry group. Used to watch this each Saturday.

Someone on Discord referred to something silly but earnest I wrote as a "shitpost", and it legitimately hurt my feelings. I'm not new to the term, but I didn't realize it wasn't necessary negatory. And in fact, it's very hard to find a stable definition online. But it vexes me that internet culture and how we discuss it needs to itself be memified and reduced to the extent of inflexible and ultimately meaningless labeling.

I'm really not ready for web 2.0. I'm definitely not ready for Generation Z, let alone Alpha. If the future of humanity is robotic zombie space rats, that's fine. Who am I to stand in the way of evolution? But that doesn't mean I have to die as one. Sudy is going out a noble ape.

Related, it's always weird to hear references to Generation X as being the aging, older adults. Every time I hear the term my mind still sees MTV logos and flannel as if I almost expect to see them when I walk out the door.

It's weirder still to witness it. Seeing us turn in to crank uninformed "Karens" empathetic to the entitlement with no regard for anything other than walking in our shoes and protecting generational wealth like the boomers we rolled eyes at for years seems unfathomonomonable and yet here we are.

I saw something yesterday that said Gen Z cant stand Millennials . LOL. I thought well at least they are leaving us old folks out. Im Gen X and I remember the Baby Boomers being the out of touch ones. Now that would be the Millennials and Gen Z is the us we used to be. Gen X is totally off the scope now. I still prefer our nickname though.

My sister is one of the oldest Generation Xers (born March 1965), and she's only 56.

Heh, I don't think of 65 as GenX. I guess I'm too self centered. I think of 65 as the keeping up with the "the Jonses" generation. I think of GenX starting around 67 or maybe into 66. I don't know why 65 seems too old. Probably because being born in 65 means you likely have clear memories of Viet Nam war, the Gas Crunch, Nixon, gang fights before drive bys, a world where the greenhouse effect wasn't a thing, and vague memories of landing on the moon. Generational things I can't really relate to.

I thought baby boomers were from 1946 to 1960.

I was born dead center in the middle of Generation X.

I didn't say we were old, just that we were aging. We're the current middle-aged, new-grandparent, oldies-on-the-radio, due-to-retire generation.

But that isn't Generation X. That's who the Baby Boomers are. Generation X is MTV, X Games, flannel, slackers, sitting in the dark, music that's either depressing or pissed off generation.

It probably was defined as that at one point, since different writers have used different ranges over the years. As I recall (having been born in 1963 and remembering a time when I didn't seem to be a Boomer or a Gen-Xer by definition), there used to be a gap between the generally accepted end of the Boomer generation and the beginning of Gen-X, so it isn't surprising that the definition has become more standardized by now.

The hard part of that graphic for me is that I'm near the beginning of the GenX range, and I definitely don't feel like I have much in common with someone born in 1980. Though... my wife is 10 years younger. But she actually got "retro" for a while and watched a lot of the stuff that I grew up with. So it hasn't felt like much of a knowledge gap. I haven't had to disown her yet for not being familiar with a "classic".

Ive always been proud to be GenX. The music, the styles, the attitudes. Although I miss being young lol. The new generation indeed.

Born in 70 I feel I have more in common with someone born in 1980 (though not much) than I do with someone born in 65. 70-80 see more in common with music and general culture but much like I don't see tech like someone from 65, I don't see tech like someone from 80. Someone from 65 still used letters to describe phone exchanges. "Transylvania 65000" is part of who they are. Someone from 80 doesn't remember rotary phones nor even pulse dialing. Waiting to dial each number individually is part of who we are.
