Some City of Heroes, some Unreal Tournament 2004, some Battle of Wesnoth, hopefully a turn or two in my Dominions 2 PBEM game, maybe some Half-Life 2, and I wouldn't mind taking a stab at a game that's in my backlog but I haven't played recently.

i'll be taking U-48 of the 1st Flotille (a VIIB) on patrol in grid AM97...in the southern portion of the Irish sea, right between england and ireland. i expect a fertile hunting ground, but it's probably not going to be easy...

a part of me is tempted to try my first pass through the english channel tonight while it's still early in the war (february 1940) just for the challenge...and to shave a little time off our trip to assigned patrol. the trip around England to the north is a long one when your destination is just outside the western opening of the channel...
Take caution, Kaleun. :)

The journey throught the Channel is fraught with peril. Swordfish and Hurricanes abound, along with plenty of Tribal and Hunt-class destroyers lurking about. If you choose this route, hug the French coastline, and attack NOTHING lest you want an amazing amount of attention to fall upon you!

Viel Glück!

thanks for the tips! i pretty much figure i won't make it through alive (and especially not if i try to come back that way as well), but i figure a run through the channel is something everyone should try at least once just for the experience...and something to talk about if it's successful 8)

A run through the Channel can be made, but you really need to be submerged during daylight hours, and that takes a toll on your batteries. If you can make the bulk of the distance during the night, then that's obviously better.

Once you've been found though, everytime you surface you can expect patrol aircraft to abuse you within 10 minutes. ;)

I have to work. So my free time will be lightly peppered with EQ2, SWAT 4, and maybe some Trackmania Sunrise.
If I had a sig, would you read it?
