To be honest, I have no problem with someone correcting our grammar and use of the English language (since it usually is quite atrocious on the internet), though I am sure it would grow old after a while. And really, sir...ight (too lazy to make sure I spelled it correctly) is being no more offensive than most of us on a bad day, so I say tally ho and welcome to the forums.
And back to your question, Rise of Nations is a great game. I would also recommend age of Mythology, though I am guessing that you have probably already played this since you enjoy AoE II.

If you plan on staying and you misspelled your username you can ask a mod to change it.
If you plan on staying you need to learn to lighten up a little. We poke fun at each other a LOT around here and you've taken a lot of these posts the wrong way and gotten off on the wrong foot.
And back on topic, here's another vote for Rise of Nations.

It can be a little confusing for newcomers. See, this site is largely visited by cabalistic gamers. Most posters conceal their real messages in the numeric representation of their posts. I'd recommend reading more of The Meal's posts - he tends to make his mathematical secrets more obvious. dbt's are also easy. You can translate his by using a dry erase marker to connect the pupils of the eyes.sirantonycarwtright wrote:Yeah, ok then.
I need the black hawk guy to do it for me.
Now i know why i couldnt log on for ages!
No, im not annoyed at all.
Actually a rather enjoyed making fun of the Americans!
But honestly, i cant understand some of you! Please try harder!

What the hell are you going on about?
The british culture, is perfectly versatile!
What evidence do you have to back up your comment?
The British Pound is far stronger than your weak, feeble, insignificant dollar! So what the hell?
By the way, you guys are good at exporting us cheap stuff though, mainly because of the weak dollar. Thanks guys!

Um, yeah, you probably don't realize it, but that's better for us than it is for you. Sorry to break the news.sirantonycarwtright wrote:By the way, you guys are good at exporting us cheap stuff though, mainly because of the weak dollar. Thanks guys!

Undoubtedly. However, your inability to understand Americans (or to bring yourself to the point of understanding them by attending to the nuances of their social interaction) shows that you don't exemplify that versatility. Why would you want to present yourself as parochial and inflexible?sirantonycarwtright wrote:The british culture, is perfectly versatile!
Badgering Americans to adapt to your discursive requirements is a bit like telling Parisians to slow down a bit so you can have more time to calculate exchange rates.
First, get 'em strung out. Once they're addicted, bleed 'em dry.By the way, you guys are good at exporting us cheap stuff though, mainly because of the weak dollar. Thanks guys!

Good one Booner!
You noticed a mistake. Im not so bothered about small mistakes like that, thats insignificant, I can still understand it!
(Although, you are right, you should correct it.
By the way, everyone! You spell recongnise like that!)
Also some of you people put the words in the wrong places, and you dont use the right words.
Again, i sometimes dont know what some of you are going on about!
This is something Sterling said a while back:
"Is it weird to suddenly be even more proud for a war that happened over two hundred years ago based on the post of some crazy, supposedly British guy?"
The whole lot doesnt make sense, also if it did; it doesnt have anything to do with our argument!
Lets cut the crap out: (He basically said...)
Is it weird to be proud of a war that happened years ago BECAUSE a crazy british guy posted a message?
It still doesnt make any sense and its simplified!
Its a stupid question, its completely irrelevant!
DOES ANYONE UNDERSTAND WHERE IM COMING FROM HERE?
PLEASE, CAN ANYONE SYMPATHISE FOR ME HERE?

My name is Will
Now I like Age of Empires and I will back Sir Antony Cartwright.
Have you met the queen of Britain?
That'd be so cool.
I hope the Americans speaking here are nice.
Bye from Will.

siranthonycartright - you need to be aware of our Code of conduct. If you wish to use these forums, you will do well to avoid the "do nots" in the future. We do not allow alts, and I am shuttind down the William account as such. You will cease telling people to "shut up". It also includes spamming pms to people. PMing here is a priveledge, and abuse could lead to it being revoked.
You will find this place far more enjoyable if you make a small effort to get along. By following the rules. And heeding general netiquette (the all caps thread title, for example, is something many find obnoxious). It also helps to avoid statements that appear, to put it bluntly, trollish. You will get out of this place what you put into it. Please obey the rules, and keep in mind you are sharing these forums with a number of individuals who are likely different than you are.
Various other people in this thread - under no circumstances is it a good idea to mock/poke fun at someone new in any way shape or form. This includes calling him an alt, or comparing him to one of a number of zany posters currently frequenting these forums. Regardless of how the new person is acting (be it totally unacceptable behavior, or just the ridiculous), he/she/it should be treated with some modicum respect. Respect is something that is earned generally, true. But we should give new people a decent starting point at least.
A number of people who would now be called "regulars" got off to rocky starts with this community, for a variety of reasons. They learned what is ok here, thanks in part to the occasional "hey friend, that's not how we get down here" from other regulars, and by observing those regulars exhibit acceptable behavior repeatedly. In the future, I'd like to think we'd see a better community effort to help someone get along. If that person does in fact turn out to be a troll, chances are their time here will be short lived. OTOH, they become another regular, and it would be a shame to miss out on that chance.
Discalced, that's some funny shit.

Apparently the precogs are all sick, as they accurately failed to predict this event. I'll have bad_demographic give them a good rub down, and hopefully we can pre-empt this sort of thing in the future.I thought we didn't allow alts here?
That's was my thought exactly...if not an alt then a huge damn coincidence
In the mean time, I would remind you that we can't really know someone is or is not an alt without actively checking on them (stupid old, not precog based, technology). Further, we can't actively check on someone if we are unawares of that persons existance. Nor can a forum mod check on this in another forum. To aid us in these precognitionally challenged times, we have put the report post function in place, and we urge you to use it whenever you sense hijinks, chicancery, tom-foolery, or outright shennanigans in a post.
The first post in this paragraph was brought to you with sarcasm(tm), however it was good natured and not ill meant in any way, shape, or form. You are obligated to report your neighbors.
Edit:: ubb.
