I just learned that
Hello Muddah, Hello Fadduh is not an original. Amilcare Ponchielli's "Dance of the Hours" is where the score came from. Many
other scores have new lyrics written to them. Learning happens ever second of the day

Don't you love it when an album just completely blows your mind?
The new Aquilus album (streaming
here) is a serious contender for my album of the year. It alternates between stunningly beautiful and rip-your-face-off brutal, and is like nothing I've ever heard before.

Oh My
I'm always late to the party. My best of 2013 will mostly be from 2012.
Lord Huron
I'm totally digging the entire album, even if it is mostly love songish.

The crappiest thing about it is that I always miss the live show in support of the music I find too late.:

My obsession with Edguy and Avantasia over the last couple of years has finally gotten me to check out another German melodic metal band, Gamma Ray.
The first of a bunch of Gamma Ray CD's I've ordered have begun to trickle in to my mailbox (yes, I still buy CD's).
Currently listening to (and enjoying very much) their Live "Skeletons And Majesties" 2-CD set. I also received the same on DVD concert video.

"Delivering The Black" by Primal Fear.
I can't believe I bought this album. I'm a fan of Power Metal, but nothing I've ever heard from this band has ever appealed to me, mostly because the lyrics were insipid.
Then I noticed that quite a few reviewers on Youtube are calling this album a strong contender for Metal Album Of The Year already, even though it just came out in January. So, I went to Amazon, where I played samples of all the songs, and... damn. They could be right. I ordered the thing, which is amazing, since I had long ago told myself I hated this band.
