Mandatory Why Guapo? Who had reason to kill Guapo?

Interesting timing on Tru1cy's statement. I doubt an englishman would be that careless to post something like that right after they submitted their order but it is possible as well.

That is interesting LL. You admit motive to killing El Guapo then throw an accusation at your fellow warband member.

I'll ignore the Triggercut rule for now and look at what few posts we do have to consider.

Ok as I figured his posts had nothing to really go on. He made his suspects list, but it was entirely based on how much Norse reference you had used up to that point. His interactions seemed negligible, as most any night 1 actions would be.

It is always good to look back at why someone is targeted, and I think it is easy to see. Team evil hates Viking Lawyers.

So not sure what we have learned for this kill. I have not seen the play styles of Purge or Arcanis, everyone else I have played a bunch of games with.. And truthfully looking at the list of players there are a ton of great players, so I am not sure if this kill will tell us much.

Also - Is there a time limit on this game?

I think I'll follow the lead of the one guy we can be sure is Norse.

If not there needs to be. It's the only way to motivate these people to a lynch. Once a time limit is established what happens if we reach the limit without a majority needs to be specified.

Not to tell you how to do your job or anything, but seriously a time limit is good!~

Really Tru1cy? LL already gave you a reason to know he isn't in Valhalla and why you wouldn't go if you get lynched, unless you are the berzerker that is.

Fast action, right out of the gate.

Lagom seems more aggressive than his more scholarly self in recent games.

Remus is quick to follow, seemingly giving Lagom a pass in the process.

Then there's (as coop implied) tru1cy who's trying to show off his Viking language skills, which seems more likely for someone who has recently acquired those skills, not something a native speaker would be inclined to do.

An interesting dawn to this new day.

I prefer to let players work things out and there is no official time limits. However, if I sense that there is a deadlock, then i will institute a resolution thingy that will partially use random.org as choosing the lynch (i havent devised the mechanism yet, however will cross that bridge when we come to it; but i want to make it as much of a non prefered option as possible to the players).

You will have plenty of warning however.

I'm all for keeping this game going, regardless of timelines. I also agree with the time-wastingly-fruitless need to go to babelfish to translate what was originally in the language of the game.

As coop put it, cute it isn't.

We're vikings, not pussies. I've had my ale, I've wenched enough. Now, it's time to cleanse our crew of this English infestation.

Those trying to be viking are surely doing it for the wrong reasons.

RE: Time limits

I've thought this over some and I will adopt the following.

1. Generally I prefer to let players work things out. A laissez faire approach if you will, however if things are dragging on, say day 1 is over 12 days, or day 4 is more than 8 days. then I will adopt a time limit. I do not have a hard set deadline in mind, simply if i think things are stalled, deadlocked or have dragged on long enough. It's like the old saying "It's like pornography, you know it when you see it".

MY time limits solution:

1. Deadline will last a total of three days. (72 hours).
2. There will be a 24 hour warning that you are approach the deadline phase.
3. Once the deadline phase warning has passed. I will then give a hard 48 hours deadline.
4. Once the final 48 hours have passed with no resolution, I will use random.org to select the lynch.
5. The deadlines will generally be late pacific time most likely 10 PM pacific time.

For example....

I will warn on Monday at 10 PM pacific that the deadline phase has started. You have in effect 72 hours to select a lynch. Tuesday evening at 10 PM i will state you have entered the deadline phase and on Thursday at 10 PM pacific random.org will select the lynch.

I will add this to the FAQ

well with Purge echoing my thoughts I figure it is worth calling out  Tru1cy

The incredible timing on his post requesting the English hurry up, his frequent use of translations, his misstep on Norse lore. It all adds up to an incredibly flimsy case against him, but that is more than what I see on anyone else at the moment. That or we start lynching the silent.

What language is that? I went to babelfish on yahoo and tried to convert from Dutch, I don't see anything for Viking.

I guess I would love to off him for writing things I can't read, but if he was on team evil, would he keep bugging all of us this way? It does not seem his style...Hell his style is usually to not post..So maybe this is a change in style enough to vote for him...

Maybe if I could actually read what he posted I would have an idea on whether to vote for him or not...

Looks like modern Norwegian. I can understand what it says; I can't understand old Norse, which is closer to modern Icelandic than any of the current Scandinavian tongues (who are heavily influenced by German and French).

google translator (which I have been using on them) says it is Norse when you let it identify the language. Are Norse and Norwegian not the same in the way of Old English and English? That is to say, isn't Norse the source of Norwegian?

WW Viking Ship - Game thread - (day 1)

Post by Scoop20906 »

I see the kinsman El Guapo has arrived as he has earned a night 0 kill. Now to arms my brothers!! Let the foul English tremble when the clarion call sounds! The revelation of our very existence will strike like the mightiest thunderclap! Out victories shall be the stuff of legend! Our triumphs shall echo throughout the nine worlds -- 'tis endeavors such as these where the warrior ideals of god and man intersect to produce something greater than the sum of its parts. On this day, we have declared war...and we shall avenge the evils perpetrated by those who would oppose us. We shall...avenge El Guapo!!
