In fact, 'Best' is so hard for me to narrow down that I'll just do the opposite and post the worst.
Yuk! I need to cleanse this thread and post one of the most awesome openings from that series!

Oh, thank goodness. I saw BH post that on the first page but I didn't read the relevant paragraph and thought it was in earnest. I guess I liked the visual design of the opening sequence, but the clips used seemed kind of on-the-nose and overly sentimental. The song was horrendous though.

I LOVE that theme. Sue me. I also love the one they used in the tv commercials leading up to it.
Have to agree, loved this theme song.

Has All in the Family been mentioned yet? It must be in one of those compilations....

It's true though, that very much of what we consider as best, is often tied to the era we grew up in, along with what's been offered geographically. I'd also say that perhaps first-run vs reruns have impact on how we see things.
Watched the show a bit as a kid. Love the song. One of my favorites by BJ!

Theme songs from the TV shows I grew up with do nothing for me. Which is odd, as I’m generally a sucker for nostalgia.
Theme songs just don’t trigger it, for some reason.

I forgot how great that song was, recorded live. I don't like anything else by Rivers, but I actually learned that one on the guitar.
What's fun is that Ben Jones (Cooter in Dukes) was elected to the US Congress as a Democrat in the Atlanta area and served two terms until redistricting gave us Newt Gingrich.

I also like M*A*S*H (Suicide is Painless). Thought of this the other day when I saw a post of Alan Alda and Mke Farrell toasting a glass of wine.
Any of the Star Trek series.
Cheers. Welcome Back (Kotter). Get a Life (Stand by R.E.M.)
Speaking of which, I was just at this bar from the Cheers intro last week:
It's at our favorite restaurant in Bloomington, and we took our son there for his 21st birthday for his first legal drink. You can see the bar in the background there.

I just binge watched Evil Season 3 - it's still as ridiculous (in a good way) as ever, but they lengthened out the intro score and I never skip it...

He is not. He is having a tumbleweed.

I always found the theme song to The Incredible Hulk TV show to be quite unexpectedly haunting for a show about a big green guy smashing things:

You folks got most of my old faves already (Airwolf, A-Team, Firefly). Here are some other classics for me:
DS9 - something about the combo of the majestic nature of the theme combined with the darker, middle-of-nowhere feel of DS9 gets me. I never skip it, even today.
Of course TNG is my childhood:
More childhood:
For being integrated so well into each individual episode:
Ubiquity, though it's aged less well given the reality of the criminal justice system as I've aged along with it:
For being both amazing on its own, a wonderful customized intro per episode, and a wonderful recreation of my favorite book series (for the first few seasons):
I love how Strange New Worlds is both its own thing while maintaining lovely nods to TOS throughout:
Random other faves:
I could go on forever but I guess that's enough for now!

Absolutely. One thing the show did so well was portray Banner as a tragic hero. Much more so than comics, movies. etc.

I always associate that Hulk song as the outro.
The X-Files one is ..I wanna say iconic but thats for visual ...I can still whistle along with it today.
Strange New Worlds...now thats an audio beast! Its a feast and a beast...its superb. It should be winning all kinds of awards for its sound design. The entire show is a eargasm of vintage love. That little trail off at the end of the original series sound is awesome and B-movie sci-fi at the same time.

In Canada, one of the best is the Corner Gas Intro with its catchy theme song.

Stranger Things has some of the best music of any show and their theme song is excellent in so many ways.
The theme from Man in the High Castle is also very good and fits the show well.
Batman The Animated Series has a great orchestral score that fits the scenes of the into exceptionally well and has that dark mood you want in a batman show.

I liked that the lyrics would shift as it went on.

It was one of Canada's most popular recent shows. It spawned a movie and an animated cartoon series. It's basically our version of Seinfeld. One of my favourite characters on it is Oscar. He's an irritable grouch who complains about just about everything.

So it's called "Seinfeld, eh?"
Also, Seinfeld was a show about truly awful people. How in god's name does the nicest nation on earth go about emulating that?
