That was an above-average flop for A2! Nicely played, Ninyu.

I was surprised and was definitely sweating bullets. There was a lot that could beat me but I didn't think you would play 67o or 26o and I risked the flush draw.

Yep. I was trying to isolate against you, as I thought your preflop play combined with your raise into three opponents on the flop and your short stack *mostly likely* meant A-5, A-4, or A-3. Against those hands, I had lots of outs (though I didn't love :Ad: :5d: ). I didn't think you'd lead into the group of us with "just" a flush draw (though any flush draw had a higher card in it than my 8!), and was worried you may have had a set that had redraws against my hand were I to hit my straight. I didn't see you holding a bigger pocket pair (though something like 77 or 66 would've made complete sense with the betting, and would've pared down my outs in an ugly fashion). As it was, your made straight was a lot like you holding a set but without the redraw fear -- any of the seven straight outs I had were good.

I had other reasons for making my raise on your flop bet, but I don't want to go into them right now. If I had known what cards you held, that would have kept me from making the play I made, so nice job in inducing me to make an error! I didn't really consider that you'd lead out with a made straight (though A2 was infinitely better than 76 would have been!).

Nor would I have been crazy about playing A2s from the SB with the first raise coming from LMP. The fact that you got a couple of callers ahead definitely had to help you make that call (and it turns out you had the right implied odds to make the call with a fish like me still in the pot!). I *do* like making that call with two "wheel" cards that *aren't* an ace, as if you can make your (disguised) straight with an ace on the board, chances are better that you can get paid off on it.

Anyway, nicely played. Glad, at least, that I successfully isolated against the shorter stack (getting ScubaV to call my raise, or reraise me would have *crushed* me), as my downside was minimized.
