I wonder if it'll be faster to download the game at 7pm or wait for it to unpack from pre-load. :D

Honestly, if this game can give me a solid 60 minutes of not thinking about everything going on, it'll be worth it.

I've decided to wait until Christmas break. Will give me some time to finish AC: Valhalla, and I'll have a week off at Christmas which gives me a nice chunk of gaming time.

The one thing you can count on with games - they're unlikely to get more expensive or more buggy as time goes on. :D

I was wondering the same thing, our internet service was recently upgraded to 400 Mbps down, and last night I finished the preload in under an hour, and was routinely getting over 500 Mbps for a lot of it. Now, would I get those speeds tomorrow, who knows, so I've picked the unpack option. ;)

I was first 'online' back in the late 80's on a 300 baud modem, damn, we've come a long way baby, and I don't even have that tasty gigabit that some lucky folks have.

I fear after it unpacks, there's going to be an absurd Day 0 patch it needs to download as well.

I figure if I'm playing before 9pm EST it'll be a miracle.

They've already stated that the Day 1 patch is going to be an additional 43GB...clearly lots of problems to fix.

I think the day 0/1 patch is already included in the preload. It is unlikely they have a 43 GB patch that are going to be ready on day 1 but it is not ready now.

Seriously. The only way anyone could think MSFS has been perfectly fine all along is if they only fly GA aircraft and never use autopilot, live weather, ATC or multiplayer. Which could, admittedly, be a lot of people. But that doesn't invalidate the plain fact that there are many systems in the game that launched broken and have largely stayed broken ever since.
I guess I pretty much fall into that category - I fly GA aircraft, often the low and slow variety and don't use autopilot very often. I have used live weather, and it's mostly been fine? But I know you guys are right that there are a lot of things that are broken. But I strongly doubt there are a going to be a lot of game breaking bugs in 2077 - probably a lot of weird graphical glitches and the occasional getting stuck on geometry, from the reviews I've read. I'll take that in order for it not to be delayed another 3 months. I can find enough to do in the gameworld to work around any short term bugs.

Don't get me wrong, I really hope you guys have a great time with it. God knows it's been long enough coming. Besides, I want you all to provide me with plenty of "I wish I'd known this when I started" tips when I eventually pick it up. :D

In my experience it's rarely been accurate. There was even one memorable week when I was constantly followed by a storm wherever I went in the world. That was fun...

BTW, for those who don't mind some pre-launch spoilers, there is a flock of Twitch streamers that got off to an early start at 0600 EST. Personally, the high point was the countdown DJ on CDPR's channel before the switch-over to the live streams.

Besides, if it's like Witcher 3, I'll end up playing it again down the line once it's fully patched.
Ditto. I only played a few missions of Cyberpunk RPG with my friends but I was hooked. I bought the first edition, then Cyberpunk 2020; I even bought the non-canon Cybergeneration sourcebook, about the children of the original cyberpunks who wind up getting superpowers and rebel against their parents by doing good in the world. I've been waiting for this game ever since it was first announced.

Fair enough. I'd personally rather be up to spec because it'll be the first thing pointed to as a solution and I haven't had any obvious driver issues with nVidia in a long, long time.

Just happened to be paying attention and GOG just dropped a patch - 9.7 GB. I'm thinking that is the day 1 patch for PCs. The big numbers thrown around might have been people installing from disc which were pressed a month ago.

As far as I can tell, queue it up. The 'launch' will likely just be an executable update at launchtime.

They've said that there will be the pre-patch (43 gigs) that lands at release, and to expect a second day-one patch as well. It's possible that the pre-patch was included with the pre-load, and this is the second patch.

FWIW I dug into the source of the 43 GB patch. One console person got it, tweeted it out, and someone from CDPR confirmed it was an update but wasn't the launch day patch. All the stories are using this as the source. That's pretty thin. Guess we will see what actually happens. That there is a fog of war around day 0 patches is probably not a good sign. :)

All this in exchange for being able to duck out soon after dinner to get on the computer and start gathering those first impressions to post :D

Now for some interesting articles: the, an, a... wait, wrong articles

How long is Cyberpunk 2077?
Wondering how long Cyberpunk 2077 will take you to beat? Cyberpunk 2077 will have a shorter storyline than the one found in The Witcher 3, developer CD Projekt Red’s last massive open-world game. One of Cyberpunk 2077’s quest designers explained that the developer had received numerous complaints about the length of The Witcher 3, and that looking at the data, many players never got around to finishing it.

Now we’ve had a chance to play Cyberpunk for ourselves, we can confirm the main story is a lot shorter, with side missions adding to the overall length, depending on how many missions you want to chomp through. In our Cyberpunk 2077 review we say, “No other open-world game can tell stories like this, because they stem directly from Cyberpunk’s setting”.
How to fix Cyberpunk 2077 crashing on startup
If you’ve been eagerly anticipating your first moments in the legendarily hyped RPG Cyberpunk 2077, but found the game crashing repeatedly on you before you’ve even reached the main menu, well you’re in luck. In this quick guide I’ll show you exactly how to fix the Cyberpunk 2077 crash on startup issue. Take a look below for the solution!
Also, and it should surprise no one, The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt is on sale starting today. I'll pick it up and it will give me something to do if you know what game turns out to be a...

With my system specs, I believe I should be able to play at 1080p 60 on about high settings which is totally fine for me.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 from the makers of The Witcher

Post by jztemple2 »

Ok, now I understand... maybe :? Cyberpunk 2077's Day 1 patch, explained
There's been some confusion over Cyberpunk 2077's launch day patch, both around what it's called and what it's meant to address. Interest in Cyberpunk 2077's mythical Day 1 patch has only intensified after widespread reports of bugs, detailed both in our Cyberpunk 2077 review and broader look at bug reports from other outlets. So what the hell is in Cyberpunk 2077's Day 1 patch?

With launch day here, and Cyberpunk 2077 already available in some parts of the world, the answer is becoming clearer.

What's the difference between the Cyberpunk 2077 Day 0 patch and Day 1 patch?

Part of the confusion stems from what the launch patch is called. Among commenters on Reddit, Twitter and elsewhere, it's been unofficially named the Day 1 patch. Even if it makes sense to call the patch arriving on day one the Day 1 patch, CD Projekt doesn't officially call it the Day 1 patch.

During my review process, I received an early version of what CD Projekt Red referred to as the Day 0 patch. Also confused by the name, I asked for clarification: was this the patch intended to represent the game at release, or was something else planned for the 10th, too?

We were told that Day 0 patch was part of the update that all players will get on launch day, with more fixes to be rolled into the final version of the Day 0 patch. We included this note at the top of our review.

So, the Day 0 patch is the Day 1 patch, resolutely reinforced by a recent tweet from CD Projekt Red's global community lead on Twitter:
Marcin Momot
@Marcin360
#Cyberpunk2077
preload on consoles includes Day 0 update & the game should unlock at midnight (respective time zone) without additional downloads.

On PC, (1AM CET) GOG players will have to download a few hundreds mb while for Steam/Epic gamers it will be around 2-3 gigs.
We don't know what additional fixes were rolled into the final version of the Day 0 (Day 1) patch. However, according to CD Projekt Red's community lead, the update for GOG will be "a few hundreds mb"—that seems to represent a small change to the version I played for review. But who knows what those mb are packing?

As stated in my review, I encountered an onslaught of audiovisual bugs before and after implementing the patch, so I wouldn't expect the Day 0 patch to be a perfect band-aid.

Early reports from console players on the Cyberpunk subreddit confirm that plenty of bugs are still in there, from big scripting errors to the audiovisual tics I saw in every quest. We'll keep an eye out for official patch notes and share those as soon as they arrive, if they do at all.

Are there detailed patch notes for Cyberpunk 2077?

When we installed the patch while reviewing Cyberpunk 2077, these are the only details CD Projekt Red provided us about the contents of the patch:

Performance improvements.
Partially fixed an issue with weapons floating in the air after killing enemies.
Fixed photo mode lighting when ray tracing is enabled.

Can confirm the STEAM download is an additional ~3.4 GB.

EDIT: Then I restarted STEAM and now there's another ~2.0 GB download.

EDIT:
Scratch that. It completed the 3.6GB download and is unpacking it all now I believe...
