Re: Lynching Liaisons - Day 1
Poking the silents is something usually accepted on Day One. Apparently not by you this round.

So, yes, flimsy reasoning with your vibes about other players. Why aren't you acting on your vibes, instead? Seems wolfy to me, since you usually act on your vibes, as you did the last game.
Join you on the pr0ner vote whom you were no longer voting for?? At this point, you were being as self-contradictory as myself on the Chaos/Grund/silent thing. No big deal as it looks like the regular Day One stuff.Unagi wrote:So, join me on the pr0ner vote and see if I still got it.
With the Cabal in this game, I think it's likely that a few Cabal members 'smell' like wolves. That kinda tosses a wrench into things with early analysis of players. Coordination but not being seen as 'together', making knowingly false accustations and see how people react to that, etc. - these are all things the Cabal is likely doing right now, and it's all things the wolves are likely doing as well.
So, yeah - I'm not sure if I am sensing Wovles or Cabal when I feel I sense something and I'm not really sure what to share.
I was thinking about this whole Day 1 thing (and back to the CR votes from last game, for instance). Reasons not to vote a player off on Day 1 should mostly be because they may actually contribute positively, eventually. I think we all feel that Grund is capable of that, but I personally am rubbed wrong by the whole feeling that he is special and he is allowed to blow off Day 1. He could simply post on Day 1 and avoid that, but he has (recent history) tended to seem to thumb his nose at that mundane expectation. That very fact tends to make him look 'good', in that an evil Grund would rather help his wolf team by not being lynched on Day 1, so he would simply post... but - would that then make him look like that's WHY he is suddenly posting on Day 1. So, bleh - I am not sure what to do about it. Frankly, I think "not playing/posting", even as (especially as?) a Tactic is CANCER to these games. I'm ready to cut. That being said, Grund is a very large part of (historically) what made these games fun, and it really bums me out.
Newcastle. He could easily do the whole 'Look at me, I am posting poems' as a wolf - look back to any game where he was a wolf. He isn't a "hider". He plays it. Period.
So, personally I suggested pr0ner, because he is normally a pretty quiet player and will likely remain that way... and what's this? now he's flying the "you call that participation?" flag. That was pretty ironic. But I'm happy to hear/read it.
Not sure really what to do at this point. I wish our trains were on other players, to be honest.
OK, here's an idea....
Does anyone want to end the game with Theohall
as either the last wolf or their only human partner left to fend off the wolves?
So you would rather lynch me than a wolf. This seems to suggest you actually know I am not a wolf. Only the wolves, the Seer (who would never waste their time scanning me with the first scan), and Cabal members (were you and I actually in the Cabal) would know.Unagi wrote:redrun, redrun wrote:Unagi wrote:(that was in reply to redrun, but clearly my post went in another direction anyhow)Unagi wrote:So, join me on the pr0ner vote and see if I still got it.![]()
I did follow what you were saying.... right up to the point where you moved your vote to Theohall.
Pr0ner hasn't caught my radar yet, but I'll do a re-read on him. However, pushing for me to join you implies to me that you strongly think Pr0ner is a wolf, where-as your vote for Theohall comes off much less as "kill a wolf" as compared to: "I'm frustrated by Theohall".
last game, Scoop and Vorret both stood out to me a great deal and I pushed hard for them from the very start. I don't have a player currently that I feel that strongly about. I've actually felt a number of players (too many) sorta 'flash evil' like that to me this game, but nothing like Scoop and Vorret from the last game.
My comment on you joining me on the pr0ner vote was because you said:
"the wolves should try on night one to pick off a player who is known to be good at spotting wolves....<snip> After last game it would not have surprised me to see Unagi die night one."
So, if you thought I was good at getting wolves, why not join me in my vote instead of saying you think I am likely a wolf, because I failed to be killed by the wolves who must clearly fear me? (I'll also comment that I've never joined a Wolf Team that started off with 'fear' as their motto... they would MUCH rather convince the village to kill me, IMO, and laugh about it, which I have ZERO doubt is going on right now.)
However, it's not my strong opinion that pr0ner is a blatant wolf. He is just a super quiet player that (at the time) had hardly posted and I would rather not end the game with him as one of the last choices to be had. It can be stated as crudely as this: Without an obvious wolf candidate, I'm willing to vote off the person I think would make the least helpful villager, should it indeed be a miss of that caliber. Trumping even that (and this is where LM and I are in 100% agreement), I'm also willing to vote off the person I think will just tank this whole game with their abscence.
THEN I started thinking more along that philosophy... (specifically, pr0ner recently had a really strong game, from what I've been told, I wasn't in it) And it struck me that I'd rather (all things being equal... ie... anyone could be villager or wolf at this point) end the game with pr0ner than I would with Theohall... And here is the thing with that:
a) when I first posted this, I selected Theohall not 'as a wolf' but more as 'a horrible person to be with at the end game' (sorry, my opinion)
b) but there wasn't anything he posted (he's been pretty damn 'sober and in control' for Theohall, but it's early) that made him seem particularly human.
c) since then, he made that odd comment about needing to poke the silent players, but he doesn't find their silence to be all that damaging to the game.
That's what's behind the theohall vote.
It's 1 part 'end game'
It's 1 part 'why the hell not'
and it's 1 part 'Really, what on earth are you trying to sell me?"
I'm not hellbent on Theohall being a wolf at this point, but I have little reason not to test him over someone else.
I'd reluctantly join the Grund or Newcastle train if I couldn't get a different one started.
This seems like pushing by questioning those who didn't leave their vote on me. Why the seeming push, unless you know something about me already, if it is supposedly just regular Day One stuff?Unagi wrote:Vorret was on the Grund train eary, because he felt Grund maybe killed Holman to clear hard-reads, but then when I made my post about theohall, Vorret said it was a good post and removed his vote for Grund - - Vorret, I'd like to hear why my post lead to you removing your vote on Grund (would have made a small degree of sense, had you then put your vote on Theohall, but you didn't)
and... LM, what is it about the dropping of the Grund votes that made you drop your vote on Theohall?
While making a joke - the continued push.Unagi wrote:I love that t-shirt.LordMortis wrote:to be part of the precipitate rather than part of the solution.
And, yeah - OK, I had a simular response, but frankly it made me feel even better about the Theohall vote.
Continuing to push. You know I am a villager, don't you, wolf-breath?Unagi wrote:Here is where you can read right up front about how Theohall's vote was interfacing with Grund. He forecasted that the vote was meaningless and would be removed the second Grund showed that he was willing to post at all. This is a fantastic way for a wolf to spend Day 1... a bunch of meaningless 'poke' votes that come with the Pre-agreed-upon "I will be removing this vote later". Theohall wasn't putting anyone 'to the fire', and a 'poke the silent' has no "poke" if it comes with a pre-approved out-clause. What that is, is hiding on Day 1 - making a bunch of meaningless votes.
Theohall was just trying to get silents to participate. I suppose he feels now that Grund has participated?
theohall wrote:I am just trying to get silents to participate. Check my first vote and when it was withdrawn. Many agreed being silent in a large game is bad and the silent should be lynched, as happened to Chaosraven. I don't subscribe to this theory, but it is interesting seeing those who pushed it last game ignoring it now. Yes, there is info to be gleaned from this. When Grundbegriff actually posts I will withdraw my vote.
You distrust Scoop, have a vibe about Newcastle, yet your vote is still on someone else.Unagi wrote:I'm on the fence. I basically look for certain 'at ease' signs with your play, and I'm not really seeing them.Scoop20906 wrote:I'm kind of curious if Unagi still thinks I might be a werewolf this game. Unagi?

So, yes, flimsy reasoning with your vibes about other players. Why aren't you acting on your vibes, instead? Seems wolfy to me, since you usually act on your vibes, as you did the last game.

Also, why is theohall not suspicious to you? I don't think anyone in the game is acting more out of typical character than he is currently. Why is that not suspicious to you?
Chaosraven feels off to me. He seems strongly intent on pushing the idea 'local' players are making my threat list only due to locality, and/or I'm trying to pull a "see I said someone local was evil - and it was me. Ha! Ha! I get to laugh in all your faces". That's not my style, and he should know it.
My standard Theohall disclaimer is that he always looks guilty to me. However, while I think I'm getting better at reading him, so far nothing has stood out to me. I could easily be missing something - but given the difficulty I have in reading him, I tend to put him on backburner for the first few turns of the game and see what I see later. Thus, he's rarely on my threat lists until several game days have past.
Sufficient I am to the day.

Re: Lynching Liaisons - Day 1
El Guapo, here's the sequence of events.
Early on, I made an observation that I thought that it was strange that bb stated that he would not vote on Remus or Chaos on Day 1.
Remus called me on that because the essence of the post was that bb was acting on the "RMC is always wrong" meme in direct conflict to the "I'll laugh if Remus or Chaos dies before me" meme.
I conceded Remus' point.
Then, after all that transpired, bb came back with the paragraph you quoted above, saying he was suspicious of me for sowing confusion.
Here's the problem with bb's claim of me sowing confusion, based on those events:
- bb assumes that I should have known that the "RMC is always wrong" meme has taken precedence over the "I'd laugh if Remus or Chaos die before me" meme, when in every game that I have ever played with bb, he has expressed desire (either truthful or in jest) for Remus (and to a lesser extent) Chaos to be lynched on Day 1.
- bb then says that I did not notice that he voted on LM as a part of the Detroit crowd. The fallacy with this is that he did not vote on LM for the "I'll laugh if LM dies before me" rationale, but he voted for LM because "LM will beg for death soon and I'm in a generous mood." The truth is that, historically, bb has always expressed a Day 1 desire to off Remus far and away above anyone else. Chaos comes in a distant second. LM and redrun, a distant third . So, for me to observe that I find it strange for him to state that he would not vote for Remus or Chaos today (regardless of "RMC is always wrong") is not sowing confusion.
In this game, any rationale given to paint me as evil will be similar to the rationale used against Gerry Conlan.

Re: Lynching Liaisons - Day 1
After a week of observations here are the few things that I took note of that could be something or could be nothing.
We'll start with my redrun vote:
His accusation that I'm trying to spread guilt seems a bit absurd. Not sure how successful I could be spreading guilt over obviously joke accusations.
Which brings me to one of my joke accusations below.
The other odd behavior is Scoop. Last game as a "bad Cylon" he was very talkative and active, he was lynched. This game seems to be the opposite so is it because he is just a villager or a wolf trying the opposite tactic hoping to live longer?
Those are the observations after week 1 that stood out to me.
We'll start with my redrun vote:
As I often do, I throw out little jabs on day 1 just to see what happens. Of all the little jabs redrun is the one I chose to cast a vote. There was nothing really behind the vote other than to get a reaction. His reaction was rather defensive so at that point I saw no reason to withdraw the vote.redrun wrote:I'm a bit confused. Right before you voted for me you stated:Lassr wrote:See here is what was delaying the wolves, they were waiting to see who would not claim seer.redrun wrote: Just to save some time here, is there anyone out there who isn't the seer?
redrun
Later that same day (real day):Lassr wrote:Come one guys. Yay village.
Combined with your day one "I have my orders in" statement (ie: hinting that you are a special), I'm not sure if you're poking for response, or just spreading guilt with a wide trowel hoping to see what you can make stick.Lassr wrote:So you know for a fact the wolves are holding up the game?El Guapo wrote:How hard is it to choose a kill on night zero? Is it who tells the funniest joke in the village? The least funny joke?![]()
Possibly true, my orders are in though...
But no good special would have outed themself with a "my orders are in" line, right? So I can assume you're either wolf or plain 'ol villager?
Lassr
His accusation that I'm trying to spread guilt seems a bit absurd. Not sure how successful I could be spreading guilt over obviously joke accusations.

I didn't quote this because he read the rules I was marking it so I could come back to it later. What really bothered me is he said "The village's favor" not "Our fvor." It felt like a wolf statement. May mean nothing but these little things is all we can go on sometimes.Lassr wrote:Only wolves read all the rules...LordMortis wrote: And looking over the rules/roles this like a game where things are tilted in the village's favor. Yay village.
He also said this. It felt like a small bit of doubt being planted about Unagi simply because last few games Unagi has been dead on on nailing wolves and I commented during BSG that if I was ever a wolf then Unagi would be my night one kill. Unagi could be wolf or LordMortis just used the opportunity to plant some doubt or it is nothing.LordMortis wrote:Unagi lives! He must be a wolf.

The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.

FYI for Qantaga. The last time I remember bb2112 not playing the "Detroit" meme, I was convinced one of the crowd had to be a wolf. 3 lynches later, none of them were which I am sure the wolves totally enjoyed, because I kept pushing for the lynches of Chaosraven, Remus West, and bb2112. The wolves obliged by "helping" those lynches along.

He feels much different to me this game as compared to last game. I have no smoking gun or other knowledge that would lead me to say it is a sure thing that he is evil - but he feels different. A number of folks listed him as a secondary possibilty for a lynch, and I decided that I'd like to see where a lynch vote would go and to see what we'd learn from it.El Guapo wrote:So....what's the Qantaga rationale?redrun wrote: Withdraw Lassr

After the long weekend, I somehow agree with Remus saying that redrun seems defensive. While not horribly so, he seems a little more aggressive in his defense.
So:
Withdraw El Guapo
redrun
Now scoop be a good little follower, and switch your vote as well.

Re: 10 DAY WARNING
Was hoping for some momentum since last I checked in.
I don't know if it's a good or thing that newcastle has stuck to his guns with Grund. I like his decision to hang in there, contrary to Grund's messiah following that waited for his lyric to bail on their votes but the decision to go against "We can't get it done on day one" is so unnewcastlelike. And so I'm torn.
That said, I'm on day one I'm more torn between
And so I go for the one particular vote and bail prospect:
Theo
to bring at four candidates above one vote.

Looking back. I'm wrong. I swore you were one of the people adamantly against voting for absent players last game (and the game before, whatever game that was) and It took me until about 8 pages in to find out you were one of the first.Newcastle wrote:what planet

I still think RMC & Theohall are likely candidates for wolf, but redrun
is literally howling.

Only 12 people have a registered vote on this update, so of the 12 people putting a hat in the ring, they need 9 to agree.
That's going to be tough to do!

There are 17 Villagers & 4 wolves for a total of 21 players. Thus, the majority is 11.

So then 16 of us have registered a vote. Need 11. So 11 of the 16 votes have to be on one person to get a swinging party going.stessier wrote:There are 17 Villagers & 4 wolves for a total of 21 players. Thus, the majority is 11.
We need more people to cast votes.

That's no reason to cry. One cries because one is sad. For example, I cry because others are stupid, and that makes me sad.

Interesting that nobody currently has a vote on redrun, in spite of the "he's a wolf" talk about him.
