There are all sorts of things that could be done, but I don't see this administration doing them.

If we run out of doctors and nurses, we can get the ones that play them on TV. That should be enough for at least a dozen hospitals.

I hope that there’s a hearing about how testing for Covid 19 abysmally failed in the US compared to other countries which got hit earlier than the US.

Neither the CDC nor the coronavirus task force chaired by Pence would say who made the decision to forgo the WHO test that so many other countries accepted and used.

Methinks that congressional hearings will be coming and subpoenas issued to all.

We as a people cannot let this go. There are more virulent things out in the world and we can’t afford the same clusterfuck of a response when the next, possibly nastier, virus makes its way here.

Absent federal leadership (other than tax cuts), I expect that we'll notice which states have advanced medical facilities, full insurance coverage, and strong support services versus which states went with low taxes instead. Covid won't respect borders, but without the feds leveling out resources, our response to it will.

Now, this is just my hunch, and — but based on a lot of conversations with a lot of people that do this, because a lot of people will have this, and it's very mild. They will get better very rapidly. They don't even see a doctor.

So, if we have thousands or hundreds of thousands of people that get better just by, you know, sitting around and even going to work — some of them go to work, but they get better.

Pence then closed the meeting with a prayer for all of those affected before attending debriefing with the President in preparation for his meeting with top WallStreet executives. Dow is going up which to Trump is probably mission accomplished since the stock market is his barometer for all things. Can't wait to hear the circle jerkers praising him for his decisive leadership from the back nine.

I don't think he's stupid enough to sell that message when the market is still only 80% of what it was a few weeks ago, making it down year over year and down year over year before that. Though, as usual. I have no finger on the pulse of Trump nor why stupid messaging still succeeds.

I will say, while obviously the administration's response to the coronavirus has been woefully deficient, I do at least feel grateful that Trump doesn't seem to have discovered the civil liberties restrictions that he could plausibly impose in connection with an epidemic.

There aren't any US cruise lines, are there? I know a bunch have their headquarters here, but all the ships are registered elsewhere.

The optics of bailing out foreign cruise lines while farmers continue to suffer depressed prices due to China are interesting.

Not that I'm wild about siding with the Trump administration if they do impose restrictions that impinge on civil liberties, but isn't restriction of movement and association (although Constitutionally-nightmarish) one of the ways to fight Corona and reduce potential deaths?

This is a super fun time to have a kid currently in the midst of an extended stay in the hospital (on day 9, expected to go into next week). I visit daily, but I'm gearing up for my full time shift over the weekend. On the plus side, he's in isolation so everyone gowns up when they come in - maybe that will protect us?
Looks like we're in the same boat.. Day 18 here. And we had a patient who died of the Corona Virus in the hospital last week.
It's kind of funny/scary how often our boys seem to be hospitalized at the same time. Saw in the other thread that you're hoping to be released soon. By the way, it's been almost a week since NJ sent our first set of presumptive positive cases for the CDC to verify and we've yet to hear back. Normal turnaround should be 24-72 hours. Apparently we're not alone:

https://twitter.com/AaronBlake/status/1 ... 4208012288
Washington state Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler (R) says her constituents aren't getting coronavirus test results for days after being tested.

CDC Director Redfield responds that there is "not enough equipment, not enough people, not enough internal capacity."

No, you were not.
Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL), also known in short as Norwegian, is a cruise line founded in 1966 and based in the United States.
...
As of December 2019, Norwegian Cruise Line operates 17 cruise ships, with six on order. It has also previously owned or operated 19 other ships. All its ships are flagged to the Bahamas, except for the Pride of America, which operates cruises within the United States and is flagged and registered in the US, as well as being owned by a US-registered subsidiary, NCL America.

We did get some extra wipes to clean stuff though so that's...exciting?

I'll probably get this thing and it probably won't make me very sick. Probably. 🤷‍♂️
What you gonna do?
This is a super fun time to have a kid currently in the midst of an extended stay in the hospital (on day 9, expected to go into next week). I visit daily, but I'm gearing up for my full time shift over the weekend. On the plus side, he's in isolation so everyone gowns up when they come in - maybe that will protect us?
Looks like we're in the same boat.. Day 18 here. And we had a patient who died of the Corona Virus in the hospital last week.
It's kind of funny/scary how often our boys seem to be hospitalized at the same time. Saw in the other thread that you're hoping to be released soon. We're hoping for Thursday, which puts us at around 16 days total. You win this time, Naednek! (At least I hope we go home then and you win for longer stay!)
We broke out last night. That was our longest. I'm hoping for another 5 year streak where it doesn't he doesn't get admitted, but sadly I don't think this will happen. This marks his 3rd stay in 1.5 years.

Hope your son heals quickly and can get out soon.

Asked if he's been briefed that up to 100M could ultimately be exposed, Trump: "I've been briefed on every contingency you could possibly imagine. Many contingencies. A lot of positive. Different numbers, all different numbers, very large numbers, and some small numbers too."
Maybe next year, maybe no go

Because he's a useful idiot.
It's almost as if people are the problem.
