Not a fan of Cohen (I guess I liked him in Talladega Nights ok) and I really am not a fan of covert "let's make people look stupid" interviews followed by gotcha editing. I just don't like helping people make themselves look stupid as a form of entertainment.

I'm also shy on jumping on the Cohen stuff, even though I find it amusing at times - I know I'm finding it amusing, but always without the foundation that I normally like to have under my amusement.

Don't get me wrong, I like to laugh at as much as laugh with, I just don't like to figuratively push people downstairs then point and laugh. Cohen "helps" them down the stairs way too much for my liking. Makes me uncomfortable as it comes across as "picking on" people, rather than simply observing them at their most mockworthy.

Shrug, just not my cup of tea. Way too mean spirited, even when the targets have brought it on themselves.

Ive never liked the guy. Him picking on the GOP is fine by me though. Otherwise I don't care for his humor of which I don't normally find funny at all.

His last name is Baron Cohen, fyi.

I thought he was good as Time in Alice Through the Looking Glass.

The only thing crazier thing than that video is that it will largely go unremarked or simply be dismissed as a liberally biased ambush interview.

I think it is financial blackmail. Trump was bankrupt and US banks wouldn't lend him a dime. All of a sudden he's wheeling and dealin' with the Russians. No doubt they used him to launder money through the US and propped him back up.

They could expose him like the fraud he is. His base would still probably support him regardless.

I agree. He is probably deeply leveraged with loans that Putin could call in at any time. Trump is beyond embarrassment, but financial ruin would certainly keep him in line.

Actually a much better analogy is that Stalin refused to believe his own intelligence service when they told him that Hitler was going to attack Russia. He trusted Hitler over his own people, even though part of Hitler's platform was anti-communism. He didn't even believe them when he got a phone call saying that the Germans had invaded.

It may be a better analogy for Trump's conduct, but it would be a lousy meme given its lack of irony. The point of the meme is that actual leaders wouldn't blatantly lie about such things. Bush didn't deny that Bin Laden was responsible for 9/11 and FDR didn't deny that Japan was responsible for Pearl Harbor.
