Wife's on a ventilator in ICU. The nurse said she'd probably be there a couple of more days and that she was doing well. I don't know what "doing well" on a ventilator means. I guess that means she's going to get better. Enough to come home or not I do not know.

Hoping "well" means good things.

My son's been on a vent in the ICU on a few occasions, so I'd interpret that to mean that she's either stable or improving. When they're on the vent they're always checking oxygen sats and other vitals to see what they need to do with the amount of O2 they're giving. The goal is to get down to 21%, IIRC, which is the same as room air. If they were constantly having to up the O2 levels, I don't think they'd be telling you she's doing well.

I still get all the emails I got before my wife's passing. Stores she liked to shop in and see sales for...even stores we shared interest in. Its nice now seeing the spring stuff coming in. I actually feel better seeing that stuff and knowing that it can only get warmer from here and the days longer. Lifts my spirits. I hate cold dark days.

I am glad you followed "ventilator" with "doing well," as those are words that don't often appear in the same sentence. I hope you're able to enjoy having a break from caretaking now that you got some hopeful news.

Well, I sure she'll live. Beyond that I just don't know. I thought I would enjoy being alone more than I am.

Did you ever start watching this? It is streaming on Hulu and it is really, really good. Smartly written and very funny. Last night we watched the episode where they had to re-shoot a commercial after the company's LGBTQ+ support was questioned. So good.
Watched the pilot. So far this was written me. "You're going to send me to the truck plant in Westland." "Westland." "Westland." You literally can't hit closer to home on that for me. Wayne Assembly is about three miles south of me... Me, living in Westland. So far it looks like it was written by local auto industry people.

Been watching tons of Smallville clips. Seems like it was an amazing show. Anyways its full of Kryptonite...blue, red , green, maybe others. Then in one ep Clark says he is from another galaxy. So how did all this Kryptonite get to Earth?? Clark was in a tiny little ship barely room for his baby self. No cargo of Kryptonite.

Wouldn't his ship be pure Kriptonite? Not to mention his blanket and clothes.

Hint: They spend the first half of the series calling it 'meteor rocks' before someone coins 'Kryptonite.' Watch the intro - Krypton exploded as he was on his way out. That meteor shower was Krypton. His ship crashed in Smallville along with a significant portion of his birthplace.

Never saw the pilot but yes I know what Kryptonite is. But his ship had to be a lot faster than light to get here. I dont see how rocks and material from the planet Krypton also reached Earth. its in another galaxy. it would take it millennia at sublight speeds.

Pieces of Krypton from an exploding planet flying faster than light god know how many light years thru space to land on earth the same time as Kal-El.
Those odds are about the same as my stepson leaving voluntarily.

It works the same way he can hold up a half-million pounds of airliner with his hands without simply punching through it like a pencil through paper. It works the same way he can catch someone falling at terminal velocity and not simply break them in half over his arms. It works the same way he can punch something into orbit without burying himself in the ground.

It works because comic books.

FWIW, It was actually pretty well established that it didn't take all that long for it all to get to Earth. It's been years, but as I recall...
Spoiler:
Jor El visited Earth and had such a grand time that he decided to send his son there when things got bad at home a few years later, and there was like a 27-year gap between his visit and the crash.

That brings up how the hell Krypton knew of Earth. I mean its a full galaxy away. Wasn't there anything in their own galaxy?? And if they were visiting then why not evac here....No sense.

They should have had Krypton near us...say withing 20 light years.

So anyone ever think deeper on why the Romulans are called Romulans? Supposedly because the planets they founded were Romulus and Remus. But they left Vulcan and founded those homeworlds BEFORE they even knew what a Human was never mind Human lit 101.

I was remembering my first car today. Me and my best friend at the time fished every day. We had to walk miles or ride bikes to get to spots. But when I got my car that opened up all the places me and my dad had fished at. So we loaded up one day and went fishing up in the mountains at a dam. Great day. Felt so free having that car.

A week later I smelled a weird smell. Temps were running 95 on that day in summer. I popped the trunk and WHEW GOOD GOD bout toss my cookies. I had somehow missed a plastic bucket of chicken livers we had fished with when I cleaned out the trunk. OMG....that may be the second worse smell I ever smelled behind that time I sniffed a vent at the mausoleum...ugh. 3rd would be the time me and dad were working on the roof..I was like 12...and he said "Sit there at that pipe so you dont fall"...ya....damn sewage vent pipe....man he about laughed himself off that roof when I took a whiff.

Blame the humans, whose exploration ship claimed to have found twin planets and named them Romulus and Remus.

In Diane Duane's novels they're called the Rihannsu

Well, if you watched Star Trek in the original Klingon instead of the inferior English dubs you'd know that they don't actually refer to themselves as Romulans. :ugeek:

Germany is only Germany in English. The call themselves German when speaking English, but natively they are Deutsch from Deutschland. Same thing.

Years ago at the mall a model train store moved in for about a year. I had never seen a Z-Scale set before. So tiny and detailed. Became my favorite. I never was able to get one between money and no where to set on up....but always loved them. been looking at them online. WOW they are expensive now...$300 - $600 for a little engine. Dang.

Do they? Remember, 90% of the speech in Star Trek is in the speaker's native language, routed through the universal translator (which just happens to sync with their lip movements.) Klingon isn't pronounced 'Klingon', either.

You can get a suitcase trainlayout with train for less than a thousand. I've always wanted one too.

That's cheap compared to the garden trains that a friend is looking at. $5000 for one locomotive!

Used to want one of those too! Wanted to build out my own set up our near 4 acres. But never had the money and over the years the land got sold little by little. I live with 1.3 acres or so now.

Christopher Walken on how t oact like Christopher Walken.
Of a cat’s tail, right? Yes, of a cat walking away. Which is interesting, but dubious. Sometimes when I see a question mark in a script, I’ll deliberately make it a statement. Or if something has an exclamation point, I’ll make it a question just to see what will happen. Punctuation can be a stumbling block, so I take it out.
