That's what my dad always says, he would get very annoyed when he would see the fuel gauge on my car just a hair above Empty

It's not so much that they muck up your engine as the muck up your fuel line/intake/filter, and then cause stress on down the line with an unaccounted for choke on your fuel/air mixture.

I had my fuel line freeze up one very cold night when I left it with 1/8th. I think the water in the tank was about the same as the gas at that point. Never ever done that before. Took me a solid minute of cranking to finally start it. Thought I was screwed.

My car battery died while I was out and about. My insurance sent a guy out to jump start me.
Much to my surprise this guy arrives in some little SUV with a starter about the size of a transistor radio, clips it to my battery and it starts right up!
When did they invent these?

Not sure about when. I've seen them advertised. I never thought much about them.... But now that my vehicles sit for long periods (and I've had to charge my car battery multiple times), it's probably time to rethink.

My defacto son in law has one. Nice to live in the "digitile" age.

Ive seen those but never used one. Almost bought one a few years ago when my battery pack died. I had the 12 volt size pack with the normal sized clips on super short wires. It gave up the ghost about the time I needed it again. Was able to get a battery instead of just charging every time I went to town. When I saw those little phone like ones my thought was how the hell will that do anything. But I guess they work. Ive also seen some that plug into the cars cig lighter. But I hear they are slow and Im not even sure new cars come with a cig lighter as many have no ash tray these days. I can remember ash trays all over a car...seats, arm rests, center console, front.

The fact that you use the comparison to a transistor radio probably says a lot . The fact that I know just what you mean says the same about me .

I've actually had those jumper packs in both of our cars for several years. I've never used the one in my car, but I've used a different model on my wife's car a couple of times and it started like a champ both times. Mine is an iClever model I got through Amazon a number of years ago. It is the Swiss Army knife of those packs, it has all sorts of adapters and sockets, plus I've added several of my own adapters and cables in its quite sizeable case.

I've had one of these Coleman portable jumpstarters in my trunk probably for 15+ years now:

A few years after I got it, I lost the charging adapter. I think I tried other AC/DC adapters that I had in the house, and even though they fit the plug, they never seemed to charge it properly. So the thing hasn't been charged in well over a decade, but it's still in my trunk 'cause that's easier than figuring out where to dispose of it properly

I just heard that they have confirmed that they are working on a Sixth Gun show, although details are scarce (including exactly who 'they' are beyond UCP.)

I would like it very much if 'they' don't screw it up.

Not sure but I got one for XMas and recommended here to someone else who asked about such things (kraken?) Mine was from Costco and it also has a USB charger among other things so it's also nice for power outage, as I have no generator.

It was about $50 a XMas. It's up to about $70 as everything is going up up up.

Is 8000 mAh enough energy to start an average car? I saw some at Amazon that cost more but were 2-3 more powerful.

Amps delivered is what's measured for a start.

A vampire squid that died more than 300 million years ago has been named after President Biden by a group of paleontologists who discovered the new species, The Guardian reported.

¼ cup Greek yogurt
2 teaspoons honey
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
¼ cup fresh blueberries

Combine milk, oats, Greek yogurt, honey, and cinnamon in a 1/2-pint jar with a lid; cover and shake until combined. Remove lid and fold in blueberries. Cover jar with lid.

Refrigerate oatmeal, 8 hours to overnight.


Too much milk, not enough fruit. I think I'm expecting this to me more like a Granola and Yogurt parfait which I love but is just too much sugar. I'm going to customize this a bit and try again.

Keep in mind, berries tend to be remarkably low in carbs and calories considering how delicious they can be. For example, one cup of Costco's frozen three berry blend (raspberries, blueberries, and blackberries) is only 16g of carbs and 70 calories. Also, buying a four-pound bag of frozen berries from Costco is a great way of stretching your pennies/dollars vs. purchasing fresh berries.

Obion County, TN

Two people are dead after being attacked by a loose camel at a Tennessee petting zoo Thursday.

The Obion County Sheriff’s Office says they received a call just before 4:45 P.M of a loose camel near Shirley Farms on Bluff Road in Obion, Tennessee attacking people.

Deputies arrived to find two unconscious victims and the camel still on the loose. The victims are identified as 42-year-old Bobby Mattheny and 67-year-old Tommy Gunn.

The OCSO says the camel then attacked a deputy’s vehicle and attempted to attack a deputy that was helping the injured victims.

Officers say they had to euthanize the camel for the safety of everyone on scene.

A camel killed someone named Tommy Gunn. It aint even April yet!

We got home late last night after a full day of travel and didn't go to bed until 2 a.m. (3 o'clock DST). My biorhythm is screwed up from traveling anyway, so the time change just got folded into general malaise.

This has nothing to do with DST, but here's what happened to us last night. Around 3:00 there were strobing lights coming through our front windows. We both happened to be awake even though we were in bed. I got up and looked out the window. Two cops cars were in the street, and one of them had his lights flashing. They went into the cemetery that is across from our house. One of them circled the area while the other one blocked the entrance. A few moments later, several horses came running out of the cemetery, across the front lawn, and through our back yard. They disappeared out the back 40 into the neighbor's yard. One of the cops came walking across the side and back yard. Then he ran back to his car parked in the street. This morning we found horse, human, and dog tracks in the snow. My wife also found a whimpering dog lying next to our cars. When I went out to look, the dog was gone. There were dog tracks on our back porch and all across the yard.

I forgot to set my non auto update clocks up an hour.

They were just playing Whitesnake's Here I Go Again on the local radio. As a teen I loved that song and even bought the cassette for my car. Then for decades I think I may have heard it twice.

When my wife went into the hospital that last time for her stroke I suddenly heard it on the radio every time I was in the car driving to or from the hospital it felt. I hated hearing it. Then right after her death I kept hearing it over and over. Really dug into me I recall. I would get so mad hearing it at that time right after I lost her. I didn't want to be on my own. I refused. Then it seemed to fade away into obscurity again as fast as it had returned.

I think today might have been the first time hearing it since those days. Doesn't bother me now but I do think of just how weird it was to hear it so much around that time. Coincidence yes, but a strange one indeed.
