My grandmother used to put butter on PB&J's. The first time I ate it, I spit it out, the butter was just too much.

Grilled PB&J, fine. Cold butter on cold bread w/PB&J? No way.
Toasted bread w butter/PB&J is fine. Never tried grilled. Not sure how I'd respond to that. I may need to try.
It's tasty, but it can get sloppy - the jam/jelly likes to drip!

I watch the Snow Dogs Youtube channel. Its a family that has huskies. Fun channel. Anyways they get Hello Fresh and I admit that food looked so good. I checked prices and they list box prices and a final price that is lower than the boxed price. So I have no idea what it costs.

Anyways they have a promo code for anyone that wants to sign up. SNOWDOGSVLOG16 . You get 16 free meals and 3 free gifts. I have no idea what the gifts would be and I dont know if theres some catch where you have to stay a member for a while or something. I myself would be interested because I cant afford the normal plans.

Geez whatever happened to plain cheap metal coat hangers? I need a couple for some cutting up and using in home projects....not actually use for clothing. I can find some metal ones but all Ive seen are thick metal, fabric covered, ones I cant use. And these things seem for cost like $30 for 10.

I just want a 10 pck of the old thin bare ones that should cost $5. I have a few still around the house from like the 80s and 90s but dont want to use them.

EDIT: 'May' have found some at Walmart. Look like I need and come 10 for $10. Not great...a $1 per hanger??? geez. Things used to be like 50 for a few bucks Id reckon. Its all we had in the 70s.Youd think some things would get cheaper in the decades since.

All this Monte Christo talk made me look up the nearest Bennigan's. Today I learned there are now more international Bennigan's than domestic. Pakistan and Honduras coming soon.

There’s one about 2 hours from me. I’m tempted to make the trip.

Probably not weird enough for you, I imagine. If it were jelly beans coated in butter and then deep fried it would make your mouth start watering.

We used to have a Bennigan's about 10 mins from the house, but it folded years ago. I always liked that place.

The Monte Cristo talk got my wife looking for a restaurant offering one, but she had real trouble finding any. There are a TON of places in the DC / Baltimore metro area, but she didn't want to go downtown. All of the places in between didn't have it - except one place we'd never heard of before. Not sure we'll be heading there.

On the plus side - I googled up a couple dozen new-to-me restaurants that look awesome (but don't serve the MC)! :D

Mmmm...Bennigan's Monte Cristo was the best.

There's a sports bar near me that has a fantastic Monte Cristo. I rarely go there, but make the trip once or twice a year just for that sandwich.

Do we have a dedicated food thread? Theres lots of food talk and placing it in random has gotten to seem strange.

Until then....does someone make a chunky hot sauce? I love hot sauce but its all thin or a little thicker. Im talking salsa thick almost. Maybe the pepper is chunked in it.

Why not roll up your sleeves and make your own fresh hot sauce from the comfort of your own home? That way, you can make it however you like. Realistically, they typically consist of only a mere handful of ingredients, so it's hardly akin to preparing a soufflé.

There’s a Mediterranean restaurant chain in Skokie outside Chicago called Pita Inn that has just started selling their hot sauce in stores and online. It’s thicker than most hot sauces and is rather like a salsa in consistency. I brought home a bottle a couple of weeks ago and passed out after one dip of some pita bread I also bought. Paramedics were able to revive me, but I suspect there’s been at least 30 percent brain damage. 15 percent from the initial dip, and another 15 when I attempted to show the first responders why they had been called.

The Pita Inn salsa like one sounds good. Also those recipes to make at home seem simple enough...except for the later ones.

Ok new post......I need to clean my large rugs. They are like 5 foot by 8 foot but are really thin. They sit on linoleum and hardwood . Ive never rented a carpet cleaner machine but they seem simple enough. At $30 a day I better look up info I thought. After looking though they dont appear to fit in my Mustang's trunk. Its big but the opening is pretty damn small. Like maybe a paper grocery bag wide small. How the hell do people get these home?? lol.

Seriously? "Croque Monsieur is a delicious French ham and cheese sandwich, made with gruyere, parmesan, ham and a simple béchamel sauce, toasted in the oven." Croque Madame adds a fried egg on top.

I get that myself..even today. 60 was grandma when i was up to my 30s even. But I will say that a 60 or more year old doesn't look a thing like the ones from 40 and 50 years ago.

This is Irene Ryan in and out of her Granny Clampett makeup. She was born 1902 and the show ran 1962 to 1971. Im not sure she is closer 60 or 70 here.

This is singer Tane McClure . She was born 1958 and this pic is from 2007 so she was 49 just 10 years younger than Irene. I doubt she looks like Irene in 10 years which is now'ish. Can look her up...or others from these days.

Would I hit one like back years ago..no....these ..yes. :)

Took the teen to Portland on a road trip for spring break. Went to Ground Kontrol for some pinball, Voodoo Donuts for some donuts, and the Saturday market on the waterfront park. Excellent time. I wanted to play some Mars Attack, but some guy was on the machine the whole time we were there.

That just made me remembering how we used to line up quarters on the glass of the arcade screen, so as to claim ‘the next game’.

Later that translated to holding a spot at the pool table.

Anyone know a chain store that would be a local store where one can buy pickled boiled eggs? I found some buffalo hot ones but want just some plain pickled. I may have to make them but would try the store ones first before bothering if I can.

EDIT: All the recipe ones say they have got to be refrigerated. Yet when I used to see them in stores many years ago they were never refrigerated.
