Speaking of Space Force, I found this while looking for a picture for another thread in EBG and it made me laugh.

I’m...not quite sure what’s going on here.
Yeah. I thought about hunting for a "not sure if serious" picture, but decided it was too much work. I figured that if he really didn't know, someone would come along and sort him out. And if he did, then the "joke" wasn't very good.

I was trying to explain the whole QAnon thing to my mom last Sunday. She refused to believe me because of how utterly absurd it all sounded, so she went and looked it up herself after we left.
Got a text from her later that night: "You're right, these people are seriously insane."

That reminds me of the slack-jawed look I gave my mom when she argued that one of the reasons she'd never vote for Hillary is that she was promising programs to provide free college tuition.
This from a single parent who struggled to put both her sons through college, and knew that as a dad I'd be struggling to do the same for my own kids.
The problem being that Republicans have spent decades conflating social spending with socialism, which has left a lot on the left and right ignorant about what Socialism is. But Sanders should know better.

The value of an education is how much debt you've accumulated getting it. Everyone knows that.
TL;DR - Where Trump is a pompous blowhard publicly wallowing in his own delusions, Nixon was an intelligent, strong, self-made man with real policies and agendas who at least had the decency to try and hide his stinking shit.

I like to think that nothing people do or believe can surprise me, but sometimes it does. I have to continually remind myself that the average IQ isn't "Smart" - and it's average because of all the people bringing it down. If you could hear the thoughts inside their heads, is it white noise? Static?
The only conspiracy I currently believe in is what the GOP is doing with Trump at the helm, and I don't even believe it's a coordinated conspiracy as much as a lot of people all grabbing at the same pie they've been pulling towards themselves for decades.

Don't leave out the actual smart people. A lot of very smart people believe a lot of very dumb things because they're smart enough to justify their own biases. My dad knows a nuclear physicist that honestly believes in Bigfoot and once explained that the reason one has never been found is that they emit an energy field that renders them invisible.

Being able to rationalize is a HUGE skill. Most of us just let others do it for us, but the truly intelligent find their own ways to make their delusions acceptable.
That whole twitter account is a nice break from the current state of reality.
Am I the only one who is cringing at the "cyring" subtitle in the thumbnail image?
But otherwise, yeah...that account is awesome. It's also a stark reminder of the complete lack of human empathy our current POTUS brings to the table. Could you imagine how Trump would react in any of those scenarios?

Thanks, but I can't take credit for it. I heard it or saw it on a skeptic podcast/show one time but it's always stuck with me. I'd always been bothered by very smart people (including many politicians) believing very stupid things, but it makes perfect sense. Just goes to show you can't just place blind faith in someone just because they're intelligent/successful/etc.
Just for the hell of it I went to Fox news online to see whats there. I could not tell if I was on Fox's new site or The Onion.

Watched it all. Im amazed but not surprised at all. I do not find Trump smart in the least. I find all he says to be blowhard lies. And to me he is a know nothing asshat. Smart normal folk will see that video and nod in agreement. The people who dont care will still not care. And the trump supporters will shake their head and mumble 'fake news' . Nothing changes.
