Knowing how this stuff is architected it still amazes me that software companies haven't figured out how to use CDNs to stop this sort of issue on launch day.

It's supposed to be midnight local for consoles, but CDPR and Sony might have forgotten that there are time zones in between Eastern and Pacific. I'm in Mountain and my Playstation countdown is counting down to 10pm.

I've made it through the first introductory levels/tutorials and first mission. Damn, there is so much going on I have no idea what I'm doing, but it looks amazing and is running smooth as silk for me. :D No bugs as of yet...

My decades of gaming experience have me grabbing every bit of loot though, but I haven't figured out how to use those shiny guns I'm picking up yet. :lol:

I made some guesses at character creation for where to put my points, hoping I don't regret that too much.

FYI, the F key is currently hard-bound to Interact, although the other options and controls are highly configurable.

It does - I'm playing on a XBOX controller. The game is running beautifully and not seeing any major bugs. I saw a texture loading issue in an elevator but that was it.

Yeah, just started the game up and found this out. Unfortunately "F" has always been and will always be my "move forward" key. Refunded immediately as I don't feel like editing config files to get it to work at the moment.

Buggy? Yes. In the 2.5 hours I played (character creation, character prologue, tutorials, and first mission), I noticed at least two bugs: one animation problem when carrying a body (and a plot-necessary body at that, so seems like it would have been pretty easy to find that problem) and I also looted a hat that showed up fine in my inventory but apparently did not appear (and simultaneously made my hair disappear) when looking at myself in a mirror.

Mess? Maybe? I mean, neither of those issues prevented me from proceeding at all. I'll reserve stronger condemnation for if/when I encounter something that actually harms the gameplay.

Otherwise: good fun. I didn't have time to dive into all the skill trees and really figure anything out but the game runs fine for me and looks very pretty. Should be able to play for a larger chunk of time tomorrow and will hopefully have more expansive thoughts after that.

I put just under two hours in and was damn impressed. Sure, it doesn't look like what I'm sure the modern video card owners are seeing, but it ran without any problems on high settings for my 970 and looked fine to me. I'm sure when I eventually upgrade it'll be like playing a whole new game with the added visuals.

The only bug I had was part of an optional tutorial where my hacking overlay wouldn't disengage.I did a quicksave reload and everything was fine. Can't say I've seen anything else that was a problem and it runs smoothly.

Yeah my contact time was limited, but I was absolutely sucked in. This feels good.

I've got about 45 minutes into character creation, and an hour and a half of regular gameplay (that's an estimate.) I'm loving it. No bugs so far. The systems are deep but not incomprehensible. The look is fantastic. I'm thinking I can either do ultra without RTX or high with RTX and DLSS, but I'm going to wait until I'm free in the world to really experiment with that. And in few days some tweak guides will have come online to help pinpoint the performance hog settings.

With the sole exception of the hard-bound F key (which I'm hoping will be patched out), I was very happy with the amount of fine-tuning there was in the options. I did find one Easter egg so far ( the cigarettes are Morleys.)

One tip on character creation: don't do it with the kids around if you left nudity on. It's nothing they haven't seen before, but awk-ward!

I need to get to bed, but here is my real impression: It has some new-release issues, but my core reaction is that the game feels good. The look, the setting, the mechanics, the use of the theme, it just feels good.

Saw a post where the woman who pointed out the epilepsy stuff is being sent epilepsy inducing videos now. If something happens to her they will put the fools in jail.

I've played an hour using the country boy character selection. No bugs I could notice. Running at Ultra setting and getting 74-90 fps, but the first person camera means some fast pans of the viewpoint and might be enough to induce motion sickness in some folks.

And of course, "Man Plans, God Laughs". I was all set to wake my wife at 6:30 after her nap, have dinner and a little TV, then off to Night City. Came 6:30 and I went in to get her. Well, I could barely wake her up, she was incoherent and barely able to stay awake. In 41 years of marriage, never had seen this. Call to 911, medics are there in less than five minutes. Turns out her blood sugar was really, really low. She's been a diabetic almost ten years and never had anything even close to this. EMTs got some sugar into her, kept checking her blood and eventually she was good enough for them to turn her over to me. After some more coaxing, sugar and then dinner she is just fine. Checked her blood sugar and it's excellent now. So I finally got in and played some, also pausing and going and checking on her from time to time.

Sorry if the above may sound odd to post here, but I just had to discuss it somewhere. I handled it all very well on the outside, but I'm a bit freaked out inside. I'll be playing the game on and off, but I'll be on high alert as well.

Its kinda unforgivable to me when a game has hard bound keys in today's gaming world. Maybe they'd change it by the time I get it. I mean Id edit it if I had to but nobody should have to. My use key is middle mouse anyways.

Only got an hour or so in, but thoughts!

I'll have to admit my initial reaction was not positive. My character creation got extremely bugged out where if I picked a pre-defined character, and then tried to modify them to tweak a few things, it wouldn't accept my selections. So for instance, my chosen hairstyle would clip over the top of the pre-defined hairstyle, piercings would not remove, etc. I fought with it for a few minutes before finally giving up and starting over. Fortunately the second time was mostly glitch-free, and I was able to create a hot Milla Jovovich clone.

And then I ran into another minor bug where the codex (or whatever you call the knowledge base) wouldn't clear the "New" tag for things you'd already read. Ugh.

Even once the game began (before any combat or open world stuff), I was also a bit underwhelmed. It ran fine - much better than expected, really - on my PC, but it felt decidedly average in terms of conversation choices. Even the tutorial sequence felt a bit bland and ho-hum.

HOWEVER...

The game took a huge turn when I finally got to my first mission. After playing AC: Valhalla I had become so accustomed to the third-person perspective that I had forgotten how much more immersive the first-person view is. For some reason when I got out of the confines of the intro I just suddenly clicked and "became" my character. I haven't quite put my finger on it yet, but the world just feels really good.

And the combat....oh my. Again, from AC: Valhalla I'm used to just waltzing into a city and mindlessly hitting things until they die with little sense of danger. That is NOT the case in Cyberpunk. My first gunfight had my heart racing a mile a minute, as it felt REALLY solid and visceral. I did not feel safe AT ALL and that's a good thing. Now maybe that will change as I level up and get more powerful, but for now, I'm super impressed.

I guess the best way I can describe it is that this game feels like the "adult" version of Watch Dogs: Legion, and I'm not sure I'm going to be able to go back to that game after this. While the hacking and scanning and stuff isn't as quick and easy in Cyberpunk, it feels more real. There's this sheen of complexity overlaying the game that's not actually more complex in terms of controls, it just gives the illusion of it. Everything about this game feels like that - it feels slightly more grown up, as if you had lived your whole life thinking Lethal Weapon movies were the pinnacle of action filmmaking and then walked into John Wick 3.

Yes, it's buggy. But oh man, HUGE potential here. I can't wait to dive back into this world, and I'm not even a fan of the cyberpunk/futuristic theme.

I think F is also a standard "use/interact" button.

For games that use the Q and E keys for some movement command like leaning, F is likely to be the interact/use button.

Got a few solid hours in - I ran into some minor bugs. It reminds me of Skyrim at launch. It is stupid collision stuff mostly. For example, my car got stuck on the corner of something. Instead of bouncing off it in a turn it stopped me dead cold. I ran around the corner and resummoned the car and it was fine. An enemy got trapped inside a companion and I couldn't hit him for a little while...stupid stuff like that. Not terrible but it has some issues.

I'm at 99 minutes, finished through the first mission and went back to my apartment. I saw the elevator door glitch, but it was pretty trivial and didn't affect the gameplay. I guess more than anything else I feel like I'm trying to drink from a fire hose, so many things to pick up, things to figure out how to use, so much everything to see.

In my graphics settings, I've got Ray-Traced Lighting set to "Psycho" :D

so far my only complaint is the game feels floaty when looking around. Character movement is fine, but looking just feels off.

The menu music is awesome.

I'm only reading this thread to enjoy other player's enjoyment. We've got some health situations in our family as well. I totally get where you're coming from, especially considering this is something you've been looking forward to for so long.

Glad you got her the help she needed (and the EMTs passed the stress test!). Hope all stays good!

About 90 mins of play time and no bugs. I have a 2070 super and by default it was pretty much ultra on settings. I think I need to turn down a couple of things which may improve the looking around issue. Just feels off. Good news, the game doesn't make me feel sick.

It's worth noting here that Cyberpunk works on Linux day one (if you have an AMD card) because CDPR let the Proton devs have access to a test build. Really cool!
