Star Trek the Next Generations first steps into digital

Mike Okuda and others talk about and show how STtNG started filming its ship and the styles and tests they did. This was 87 and 88 stuff. Trek would not have a fully digital ship until 2001 in Enterprise. And a lot of digital effects only were not until Voyager.

Interesting. Babylon 5 went full digital (on a sup'd up Commodore Amiga) for ships and effects but that wasn't until '94.

Yeah, B5's CGI was done using NewTek's Video Toaster and LightWave 3D. They initially used Amigas, but IIRC they switched over to other architectures by the end of the series.

Not surprised. Amiga stopped production around 94, and it was all but dead except for niche enthusiasts (who still exist today) shortly thereafter.

Been watching more Leo Moracchioli videos. The dude does metal covers of all types of music and songs. If you even have a passing like of metal or covers check him. Others posted about him I think. Ive been listening for hours.

Saw that live. I thought.."WTF is Puddles doing there"...Because I think those type shows are for unknown talent...like a car wash person just giving something a go and finding they rock it. I was wondering how the judges didn't know who he was. I bet a lot of the crowd knew.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing at first. I guess its possible that the judges were not aware of him, but it's also possible they did and decided to act like they didn't, you know, for show . Like most of these shows, there are requirements that the contestants have to meet before they can go on, like they can't be signed to a label, etc. So I am sure he met the requirements. Looking on the internet, it still looks like he still is basically a singing clown for hire, which I would imagine is not a huge cash cow. His youtube channel has 100k subscribers, which is not bad, but not really that big all things considered. PMJ has 2.7 million by comparison. We see lots of working stage magicians, dancers, comedians, on AGT, so I kinda look at him in that vein. Yeah, he is a professional to some extent, but still never really hit the big time.

He should do really well on the show as he has lots of experience, large repertoire of well-known songs, can sing really well, and knows how to work a crowd.

Patton Oswalt was on Parks and Recreation as a citizen trying to filibuster the council meeting. This video is his filibuster which was completely ad libbed and done in one take. It's 8 minutes long.

After that, check out this video from Nerdist where they animated everything he said.

Both are pretty great.
