Happy Easter all!!

And on the third day, Jesus nailed a painted egg to the cross. "Kids are really going to love this" he thought.

I don't think the original easter eggs were nailed to the cross. I think they were just hidden in the corpse, right?

I want to get some reprint movie posters. I've got bare walls, but it's a fairly small apartment. Do you think the standard 24x36 is the way to go, or is it overkill and the smaller common 22x34 is sufficient? I mean that's a diagonal of 43" vs. 40". That's not nothing. I know it's also relevant where they're going to be placed. The larger size might be best centered on a section of wall, solo. Smaller ones might look good side-by-side.

I saw a commercial on late night TV. It said, "Forget everything you know about slipcovers." So I did. And it was a load off my mind. Then the commercial tried to sell me slipcovers, and I didn't know what the hell they were. -- Mitch Hedberg

I gave thought to subscribing to a newspaper. Then I found out they no longer have a comics section. So..........no newspaper for me. When did they drop the comics and how are those who wrote them making a living now?

A college friend took over a classic comic strip in the early 90s and had to stop after his doctor warned him he was working so much a heart attack was inevitable. He made no money back then, and I think it has only become worse.

Those drawing Magic art back then were making decent money selling original prints. Not sure if that’s still a lifeline, but Patreon is apparently great if you have a fan base.

This makes it sound about as appealing as a kick in the groin. Overly sweet and stays around - blech. That alone is why I avoid most soft drinks.

It's like standing in a pool of perfume. After a while you don't notice how strong the perfume smells, because your nose gets used to it. And you don't notice that you can't smell anything else because your nose has compensated for the perfume, and everything else is too weak. And then you take a trip to the mountains, and after a few weeks you start to notice all of the smells again - the pine trees, the wildflowers, the rain. But then if you go back to the pool of perfume for a visit, it feels like someone punched you in the nose.

I found that when you start cutting sugar from your diet, you become way more sensitive to sweetness. Things that weren't sweet before start tasting sweet (like some fruits and vegetables), while things that are intended to be sweet become horribly overpowering. I've had plain water that actually tasted sweet, and I've had chocolate cake that was so sweet that the flavor was literally painful (which is weird to say.)

In my olde age my tastes have changed. I mean literally. Water has a metallic flavor and sweets can get a little too sweet. I've read it's because of my diabetes.

So, I go into the kitchen this morning and the dogs water bowl is full of dirty water and a lot of dirt. Both his dry food and his wet food are gone. A bag of deer corn has been torn open and spread on the floor.
What a mess! <sigh>
Gonna have to seal his dog door shut. He hardly ever goes out anyways.

Something mauled my bag of flour in the pantry. I found it upside down on the floor with slashes in the plastic bag around it. I hope it was one of my cats because the other possibilities are too horrible to think about.

Vox
An explosion and fire at a dairy farm on Monday in the Texas panhandle has been called the deadliest cattle barn fire ever recorded: it left one worker in critical condition and killed 18,000 cows.
...
The Dimmitt fire, however, was unusual in its scale. Because the farm was enormous — with reportedly 19,000 cattle, it was among the biggest dairy farms in the country — it killed an order of magnitude more cows than are typically killed in fires, enough to fill 26 football fields, according to a USA Today analysis. For context, the largest number of cows killed in a single fire between 2018 and 2021 in the US was 548.
