We still referred the my grandparents exchange as GL3 right up until they moved in the 90s and my parents still had pulse (rotary emulation) dialing right until they moved in 2000s.dbt1949 wrote: Sat May 27, 2023 2:28 pm I remember my phone number from when I was 12. A long time ago I couldn't remember my home phone. I never called it.
Glendale. GL was Glendale. Ours started with CH5, and CH was Cherry.LordMortis wrote: Mon May 29, 2023 7:01 pm We still referred the my grandparents exchange as GL3 right up until they moved in the 90s and my parents still had pulse (rotary emulation) dialing right until they moved in 2000s.
Oh, yeah. AM stations are cheap enough that they change identity every few years.Hrdina wrote: Tue May 30, 2023 12:13 am WFIL 560 AM was an oldies station last I knew. I just checked and now they're "Philadelphia's Christian Radio".
An entire 356,787 square-foot piece of property in Maryland — complete with a "nice spacious kitchen and dining room," a "private basketball court," and a "private study!!" went up for sale on Zillow last week for an unbelievable $42,067 — which breaks down to only 12 cents a square foot.
The listing seemed too good to be true, and then it got stranger, describing the property as a "nice half working jail" that was "built in 1792" and hilariously boasted of the property's "complementary trash scented air freshener and water issues!" noting that "all 15 bathrooms come with sewage issues!" Turns out the jail was actually Meade High School, built in 1977, and was listed by a group of the school's 12th-grade pranksters.
I'm amazed that this kind of prank took this long to go viral.Pyperkub wrote: Tue May 30, 2023 8:18 pm Pretty awesome High School Senior Prank!

Some birds will become vocal at night to attract a mate or warn others of a potential threat. Or it could be confused by light pollution.Daehawk wrote: Thu Jun 01, 2023 1:47 am Its almost 2am and I'm getting ready to go to bed and there's this bird up in the tree nearby singing his heart out like its the middle of the day. Sounds like a mockingbird. They can go on and on and on.Daehawk wrote: Thu Jun 01, 2023 1:47 am Its almost 2am and I'm getting ready to go to bed and there's this bird up in the tree nearby singing his heart out like its the middle of the day. it's the robins here that do that - they start at around 3:30AM in the springtimeDaehawk wrote: Thu Jun 01, 2023 1:47 am Its almost 2am and I'm getting ready to go to bed and there's this bird up in the tree nearby singing his heart out like its the middle of the day. There's a bird in my neighborhood that goes full-throated around 2 a.m. It's loud and melodious, but not as complex as a nightingale's. It's my sign that it's time to go to bed.hitbyambulance wrote: Thu Jun 01, 2023 4:18 pmit's the robins here that do that - they start at around 3:30AM in the springtimeDaehawk wrote: Thu Jun 01, 2023 1:47 am Its almost 2am and I'm getting ready to go to bed and there's this bird up in the tree nearby singing his heart out like its the middle of the day. I saw a racoon for the fiirst time in my life yesterday. I was in the kitchen and saw him walk to the back door. I went to it but he was gone. I didn't see him after walking out either. Like a magician just vanished. Was so cool. I hope theres more or he stays around.dbt1949 wrote: Thu Jun 01, 2023 9:18 am Rocket visited my house last night. I left the dog door open.I moved the dog food to my bedroom. I'm hoping he'll eat all that damned deer corn scattered all over the floor that he messed up last time he visited.
Trust me, you don't really want to have raccoon visits. They can be vicious. Several years ago, we went camping with a group at a provincial park, and it was being overrun by raccoons. They were so used to people that they would wander into campsites and just steal food from coolers. From ours they got a loaf of bread and a number of things, and then as if it had eaten too much, got into my Dad's advil. And at night they would wander into the campsites when people were around the campfire.Daehawk wrote: Thu Jun 01, 2023 5:29 pm

You know, they say once you've named it - you own it. I see a relationship building here. Can you maybe tame it and make a cool 80s show about how the two of you just barely get along?dbt1949 wrote: Thu Jun 01, 2023 8:48 pm Fortunately Rocket avoids people. My dog doesn't seem to care.

Daehawk, you got my back on this one, right?
It's like an American rule of thumb: the more something is like you - you should detest it. Raccoons and The French come to mind as fine examples.

“I have been sworn to secrecy, okay, because there may be, I don’t know if there will be, there may be a Thing 2,” Carpenter said.
