Are fireworks on Halloween a thing now? I don't remember fireworks on Halloween being a thing. That or there is a lot of heavy gun play going on in multiple directions. Kinda makes me hope that fireworks on Halloween is a new thing.
Doesn't the Detroit community like to do an Oct 30th "Devil's Night" thing? That could certainly contain fireworks.

I'm about 20 minutes out of Detroit and I haven't heard many horrible stories about devil's night the last few years. Fingers crossed it stays that way. I do park my car in the garage this time of year though.

Im gonan leave typos in ,..I have to fix so many for some reason these days I spend half my time fixing typos.
It looks like I need some type of storage box or organizer. A lartge one. Before me they stored important papers and not so important un the couch cushions. Not a lrge amount and the cushions sat flush so you couldn't tell. things like house insuranse policies..like insurance...school papers...history stuff like. They did it and then me and Donna did it. And now I still do it.
But I seem to have a lot more stuff under there. The cushion sit awkwardly and such. But now the worst peoblem. I sit on the couch and over time it appears the papers have beeen sliding back and into the space between the back of the couch and the cushions. I can BARELY get my had in there painfully and theres LOTs back there. I need a solution. Im thinking a big walmart storage box for the unimportant non business stuff and some kind of bit organizer for the policies and such.
Anyone use one opr have an idea on one or type?
Look at those typos. I type like Ive had a mini stoke. Im thinking the words right in my head as far as I can tell and as i type I think Im typing right. Thehn look at what I typed and its horrible. Was bad before but latey its pure shit.
I have a couple of these for my papers. They hold hanging file folders, but you need to purchase those seperatly. I like these plastic tote style, becuase I can put them on a shelf.
Also, second hand stores often have office supplies like hanging file folders for sale, and you may also be able to find a filing cabinent for cheap.

Tell the cops nothing and the paramedics everything.

Way too late for that. He's moved on to lawyers.
Yeah, and I would have never been able to take the advice then anyway. I was not prepared for the idea that was I going to have a want for a lawyer prior to getting hit nor the process of lawsuiting. Learning about this stuff was something I had hoped to live a whole lifetime without having to figure it out.

Damn, they're lucky that the fireworks didn't all bake off at once inside the truck and go off like a bomb.
/edit - clarification, the headline there was very badly phrased. A pickup truck pulling a trailer was rear-ended by a semi. The trailer (not the semi) had the fireworks, and I'm guessing that it was either open or knocked open in the collision.

It was pretty. Yes lucky it didn't all go off at one time in a big blast. $100,000 up in smoke.

So eight or nine months ago I became the reference librarian at a venerable (founded 1812) science research institute in Philadelphia. Today some of my colleagues and I were invited by our counterparts across town for a tour of the American Philosophical Society.
I am jealous!
The APS has been a Philadelphia landmark since it was founded in 1743 by Benjamin Franklin, and for that reason it has often been (at least as library/museums go) swimming in money. Their facilities are top-notch, and their collection is unsurpassed. It's beyond doubt the best library in the world for research in colonial and early United States history as well as related topics, including Native American resources east of the Mississippi. They have something like three miles of shelves in these areas.
It's a lot of neat stuff. Ben Franklin's entire library is on display in the rooms where we all met and did introductions. When we toured the stacks, I stumbled on an original copy of Richard Burton's Anatomy of Melancholy, a quirky early-1600s book that I wrote about in grad school but that I'd never seen in anything but modern reproductions.
Maybe most interesting, in the archives we saw Thomas Jefferson's bespoke-designed swivel writing chair, which (according to his daughter) is where he drafted the Declaration of Independence. (If you've seen the Jefferson swivel chair in the TV series John Adams, it looks nothing like the original.)

Doesn't sound like an activity I would enjoy in the least, even when rating myself as the most honest person I know. I think I would have a derivative of white coat syndrome in that instance.

On the plus side cords with lots of electrician's tape wrapped on them are less likely to be stolen.

Plus bright yellow electrical tape isn't that much more expensive than the normal black kind and helps you see the extension cord against the shrubbery.

You should be trying to plan for your payments going up I'd think? Insurance will be going up plus whatever else they can increase. I'd expect them to be wanting at least two payments next time you hear from them. My cousin's mortgage - the part for principal and interest has always been around $200 a month. Her monthly payment has now climbed to around $900. She'd be better off to get a personal loan to pay off her hovel, and then just live with liability insurance on it instead.
I know if I don't sell my place before December I'll have to get new insurance because the company I get it from now is getting out of Florida.

Her interest is fixed too, but there are other things that make up your monthly payment other than interest and principal. Property taxes and property insurance are included in your monthly payment, and those aren't fixed costs unfortunately.

Taxes, yes. Insurance - only if you are paying it through your mortgage company. I know I'm not, so the only fluctuating factor is property taxes. Those force an escrow adjustment once a year but the rest of the time my payment stays the same.

Completely switching subjects... I was pretty into Initial D (the anime) for a while, but I didn't know they made a sequel after "4th stage"... Called MF Ghost. There are cameos from all of the original crew, plus the new characters, of course.

I'm not sure I'm getting the entire story straight from her, but apparently having her insurance as part of the mortgage payment was a big mistake. I'm pretty sure it's not her property taxes doing the damage.

I don't think she needs one, but she'd be a good catch. Her channel is doing well enough that she just built her parents a really nice house.
The Philippines just became more attractive because the progressives now in power in Thailand are thinking of taxing everybody on everything.

OK I need a sanity check.
I've been pulling a lot of all-nighters lately. Don't judge me. Last night (i.e. Saturday morning) I was getting ready to go to bed, it was around 7:30 AM. And I remember thinking, damn it's dark outside. It was like, black-of-night dark. I'd been up around that time recently, and have done a couple early-morning errands around that time in the last couple weeks. There was always purple in the sky by then, if not gold. But yesterday, black. I checked the weather and it was overcast, but it wouldn't have been that dark. It was black. I even googled the technical definition of sunrise, as well as verifying the local sunrise time of 7:58. I went to bed assuming I just hadn't noticed how quickly we were marching toward winter solstice recently, aware that we were returning to standard time the next night, which would make the mornings brighter. (Well, you know what I mean.)
So, we went back to standard time tonight (i.e. several hours ago). I googled the local sunrise, it's 6:58. Makes sense... it was 7:58 yesterday. (According to a new search, yesterday's should have been 7:57, but it may have defaulted to a location a little further away.) It is now 6:49 and the sky is BRIGHT. Well, it's not bright. But the entire dome of the sky is illuminated in a purplish cyan, and there's a powerful gold rising on the eastern horizon. There's no way it was this bright 24 hours ago, hidden beyond cloud cover or not.
