Re: Cyberpunk 2077 from the makers of The Witcher
Took me 4.5 hours to get to the Title Screen and it was a hell of a ride. I can't help but wonder if this opening was Life Path specific. If so that'd be insane because it was freaking huge stuff. A good dose of Cyberpunk, Noir, and great set piece battles to open it up.
I did run into a severe bug. One of my save games would crash the game to desktop on reload. Luckily I lost only about a minute of gameplay. Time to grab some shuteye since I've been running this nearly non-stop since 7 PM my time.

Well, I just logged out after playing straight on from about 5pm. Really, no significant bugs. I had the hat bug, which made me bald, and I had a dude's arm protrude through an elevator door. And a little weirdness with random people that appear or teleport occasionally. But no issues at all with any gameplay, and I just hit Act 2 before I logged. I'm really loving this game so far! The quests are great, and it really is everything I had hoped for. Hopefully it keeps on being awesome!

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 from the makers of The Witcher
I put in about 3 hours last night. The only bugs I noticed were the mirror glitch others have mentioned and a set of floating chopsticks when I was talking to Jackie while he was chowing down.
I do wish that the gun combat was a bit more like The Division, but then I wish that every game with guns played more like The Division. If nothing else, all my time in The Division is probably why I am completely fine with F being used for interaction rather than E.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 from the makers of The Witcher
I only logged about an hour and a half. Enough to get through the character creation, drive around a desert, get into Night City, and finish the combat & movement tutorial.
No bugs in character creation, but I kept finding things with "Interact" icons on them that I couldn't pick up. Some things made sense, like I already had a deck of cards, so picking up a second or third is just hoarding - or maybe I already opened that message, so there was no need to download it again. Some things didn't, like a couple of paper documents I found on a ledge that I couldn't touch at all.
I'm reminded of my near-inability to time blocks and attacks in games, though. The tutorial made it clear that attacking or blocking at the right moment would make my life easier. Very useful, even. This isn't even an old age thing. I've sucked at timing attacks and blocking since I was a teenager.
I did find the default keyboard layout a little clunky. Using "Alt" to draw and sheath my weapon isn't intuitive and I need to rebind it. I don't mind "F" for everything. Using a keyboard for driving has the same issues it always has and I have to re-learn my GTA/Watch Dogs skillset for that. My first car handled like absolute ass on the desert sand, and most of that was due to throttle control.
I found myself quickly feeling nauseated and was thankful they let me adjust the FOV in the menu.
The biggest issue is personal. I went through character creation and came up with someone I thought looked okay. Until I got to the cut scenes and he was jarringly "not what I wanted to look at" for the next 40+ hours. I did a quick check and there's no option to change your cosmetics. It's no big deal for me to start over and quickly jump back to where I was. Every scene has the option to skip it. I just hope I can put together a face that doesn't make me want to punch it once I see it staring back at me in a mirror.

Although I haven't tried it, I read that you can seamlessly switch between using a controller and keyboard/mouse on the fly. The example given was using keyboard/mouse for combat and a controller for driving.Paingod wrote: Thu Dec 10, 2020 8:00 am Using a keyboard for driving has the same issues it always has and I have to re-learn my GTA/Watch Dogs skillset for that.
Is the issue just what you see in a mirror, or is it also what you see when you look at your character in the inventory screen or in any third person scenes that may pop up? The mirror seems to be glitched, and while my character looks weird there, she looks OK in the inventory view. I suspect that the bugged mirror view will be fixed soonish, since it seems to be pretty much happening for everyone, which should make it easy enough for them to track down, so restarting because of that alone might be overkill.Paingod wrote: Thu Dec 10, 2020 8:00 am The biggest issue is personal. A million concurrent players on Steam alone ain't a shabby launch day. It'll be interesting to see the total sales across all platforms. They've got to be in the running for the biggest video game launch to date.

No need to apologize for being worried about a loved one. I’m glad to hear she’s feeling better!jztemple2 wrote: Wed Dec 09, 2020 11:54 pm
Sorry if the above may sound odd to post here, but I just had to discuss it somewhere. I handled it all very well on the outside, but I'm a bit freaked out inside. I'll be playing the game on and off, but I'll be on high alert as well.
I played a few minutes before work this morning on the Xbox. I like it so far. However, if you’re going to include a genital slider, you should add more options to the left. Just mentioning that for a friend.

I am not going to lie, my wife and I spent a good 10 minutes in character creation customizing tits and genitals. She thought it was absolutely hilarious.

My wife is not a gamer, but she knew “a big game” was coming out and told me to have fun. Cut to me in my office looking over my shoulder to see if she sees the tits/genital customization screen and wonders just what kind of computer games I’m into.YellowKing wrote: Thu Dec 10, 2020 9:05 am I am not going to lie, my wife and I spent a good 10 minutes in character creation customizing tits and genitals. I'd have to go check, honestly. I wasn't overly satisfied with my character anyway and was too eager to jump into playing. I'd be losing nothing in terms of play time to make someone I was happier with. 30 Minutes?Max Peck wrote: Thu Dec 10, 2020 8:25 amThe mirror seems to be glitched, and while my character looks weird there, she looks OK in the inventory view. I'll stick with the keyboard and adapt. I always do. People have a hard time believing it, but driving in GTA and Watch_Dogs is entirely possible with a keyboard. It ends up being all about gentle tapping over mashing. I've gotten good enough at it over the years that I can keep pace with any car chase or race the game tosses at me. I just need to warm up to it.Max Peck wrote: Thu Dec 10, 2020 8:25 amAlthough I haven't tried it, I read that you can seamlessly switch between using a controller and keyboard/mouse on the fly. If I switched to a controller I'd be starting from square 1 in terms of learning how to drive instead of just brushing the rust off the skills I already had.

I've played every GTA-style game for years by using keyboard/mouse on foot and picking up my controller for driving. But yeah, you can absolutely drive with a keyboard. It won't ever be as smooth or precise as with a controller, but it is absolutely doable.

I'm using the keyboard for driving too. Switching to the third person camera makes it pretty painless.

I looked for the genitals options and shut them down. I'm indifferent one way or another; tits or no tits, dong or no dong. Great for immersion, not so much if my wife wandered into the room. I'm glad they gave me a toggle so I don't have to look over my shoulder while I play.infinitelurker wrote: Thu Dec 10, 2020 9:27 amMy wife is not a gamer, but she knew “a big game” was coming out and told me to have fun. I'm on an XBox One X and it seems to be running fine so far. No hitches or abnormalities that I can find. However, I'm sure I'm not getting the full PC graphics. I just don't feel like upgrading my 4 year old computer for games these days though. It's fine for most things, but games like this I prefer to just stick to the console.

There might come a time that I wish I spent any time modifying my genitals to play this game, but I pretty much loaded a pre-configured avatar and jumped in.
I'm guessing it will come in during a few cut scenes, but overall for a 1st person game I'm not nearly as interested in modifying appearances. I mean, having a magnum dong doesn't appear to be a game changer like the temperature adjustment of horse testicles in Red Dead Redemption 2.

Since I don't have one of the new consoles (hard to get time on the TV to play anyway) I signed up for GeForce Now. It did work with my 970 GTX at medium settings but then I fired it up with GeForce Now and could run it with Raytracing Ultra. Took awhile to log in with it though...there's apparently a user cap that was maxed outhepcat wrote: Thu Dec 10, 2020 10:33 amI'm on an XBox One X and it seems to be running fine so far. In Conan, the angle of the dangle and the motion of the ocean is a significant factor in terms of gameplay. It determines whether or not the alligator you’re ferociously fighting so hard that your clothes explode off your body mid swing will gasp or giggle.Smoove_B wrote: Thu Dec 10, 2020 12:08 pm There might come a time that I wish I spent any time modifying my genitals to play this game, but I pretty much loaded a pre-configured avatar and jumped in.

In Cyberpunk 2077 it is more akin to choosing plaid or solid color for a dlc beanie.

See? That's what I'm talking about. If combat in Cyberpunk 2077 was third person and I could engage in gun battles totally naked while swinging what looks like a baby's arm clutching an apple, I would totally have spent more time on that customization.hepcat wrote: Thu Dec 10, 2020 12:42 pmIn Conan, the angle of the dangle and the motion of the ocean is a significant factor in terms of gameplay. Thanks for the nice mentions about my wife. She's doing well now but is starting to get annoying with me sneaking in to stare at her and asking if she is alright. You'd think after 41 years she'd be used to it

I'm also playing on Easy. Every game with dodge, parry and thrust options for combat just is too much for me to have to deal with in any higher difficulty. This is how I want to handle all melee encounters in the game:
