It's not just the KKK. White nationalists, white supremacists, neo-Nazis, members of the KKK and other alt-right groups.
But, you know, President Trump insists that unless we "define" the alt-right then it's just "fake news" without the "facts." The liberals are "very violent" because they didn't have a permit, so they're a "lot of bad people." But the KKK's side was just innocently "protesting the taking down of a statute" and those are "fine people."
When you look at the videos, Trump is just wrong. They're his deplorable supporters. And he's thrown fuel on the fire. Trump owns this mess now. Maybe it will take him down before America burns. But probably not.

I'm really hoping you're not trying to claim that the guy who drove into the Charlottesville crowd only did so because his throttle was stuck.
Because that would be a whole new level of disgusting, even for you.

Whose Heritage? Public Symbols of the Confederacy.
Goes into detail on when waves of monument-building occurred and why. It's worth the reading.

The Republican National Committee is standing behind President Trump amid bipartisan backlash from his Tuesday statement on the violence in Charlottesville, Va.
RNC spokeswoman Kayleigh McEnany wrote in a tweet that the party supports what she called the president's "message of love and inclusiveness," insisting Trump's remarks on Tuesday marked a strong rebuke of hate.

It's why I may never vote for another Republican. Sorry, but when your rebukes of the racist candidate you supported and helped get elected come down to tweeting your disapproval every time he screws up, it's not enough. It's not even close to being anywhere near enough. The party decided long ago that political one-upmanship was more important than country, so they can live with the consequences.

May not?
At this point that party needs to end. Completely. Anyone voting for anyone with an R after their name should be asked frequently to explain their 'reasoning.'

My Twitter feed is full of reporters talking about elected Republicans telling them privately and off-the-record that they believe Trump is unqualified and a national disaster.
They won't say it openly. When someone like Jeff Flake (who apparently doesn't have the pull to swing others with him) tries it, they threaten to cull him from the herd.
WH sources are also leaking that Trump is literally afraid to fire Bannon because he believes Bannon would be too powerful as a critic.

I think you underestimate the bubble of fear, denial, and misinformation many of these people live in.
From the perspective of most of the Trumpsters I interact with, that speech
was a "message of love and inclusiveness". He did at one point say that hate is unacceptable, and then they view the rest of his comments as nothing more than "media" and "libs" overreacting.

That is where I've been for a long time and it hurts. Especially when I see someone who might be a beacon but then I have to step back and say how can you be a beacon when you have the opportunity to divorce yourself from the party of bigotry and financial lies? The party needs to be dismantled. The bigots, divine inspired policy makers, and financial voodoo snake-oil salesmen need to be expelled. And then I'd come back but not until then, no matter how good a single candidate may seem. The party is filth even if individual player may not be.

Fuck them then. If they are willing to go along with this merely to keep their jobs they are equally culpable. I mean it's not like they can't just go on to practice law or have cushy advisory or lobbying jobs. They are willing to burn the country to the ground to feed their egos and lust for power. And maybe some twisted sense of religious supremacy.

I hate to say it, but that's probably right. Trump's core base is the far right, and Bannon is one of the most powerful figures on the far right at this point. If he fires Bannon, and Bannon (as one would expect) brings Breitbart and his people against Trump... it's not hard to imagine Trump's favorability slipping below 30%.
I guess it's possible for Trump to fire Bannon and veer sharply left, but there isn't really any reason to think that Trump has any interest in that.

Late-career George Wallace managed the trick in a very limited way, but Wallace knew how to play the game.
Thin-skinned baby-man Trump would be booed and mocked by the people he was trying to win over. He wouldn't be able to fake it for 10 seconds.

Normally wouldn't dignify this bullshit with a reply but it is making the rounds with Nazi apologists so...
Two of those links are to forums discussing a Dodge/Chrysler recall and trying to determine whether it applies to challengers or not. The other is a list of recall, none of which support the implication that Nazi bastard did not intentionally to mow down pedestrians.
But more notably, a sticking accelerator doesn't cause acceleration from idle. Nor does it cause a shift into reverse nor does it cause a driver to flee the scene.

The only love and inclusiveness Trump provided was for the Nazis and white nationalists. The only rebuke was to the journalists not giving him positive press. Also disgusting was Trump's willingness to trash the founders attempting to score a few points.
That's what Trump and now the Republican Party stands for. These choices will have ugly consequences in the streets and in law. Hopefully at the ballot box, too.

Trump is hosting a rally in Phoenix next week, and the rumor is he'll tell the crowd he's pardoning Sherrif Arpaio.
I have a really bad feeling about how things go from here. There's real potential for the rally next week to make clear his desire to push things in an even darker direction.

That seems unfortunately plausible. They already floated the trial balloon. It didn't cause a super uproar but that is probably because it was overshadowed by his flapping gums. I think that would major mistake on his part but he is a fucking moron after all. He is unleashing unrest now and we will have to just see how bad the ride will be.

Yeah, information for the rally is
here. Whatever you do, don't sign up for two tickets and then not show up. Because that would be taking away seats from people that want to be there.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, who has been publicly silent so far over President Donald Trump's latest remarks on Charlottesville, is privately upset with the President's handling of the episode, according to a source close to the Kentucky Republican.
