These two go together. These deaths were selected because for the most part I was aware of the enemy, often had the drop and them, and *still* failed to execute.
Exactly. I may do the same thing but I'm not sure I have as many interesting deaths as you. It seems like an unreasonable number of my deaths are from off camera and from a distance. I may do a boring death reel that's just me getting headshot, and then another where there was actual engagement.

Before making the video I went through all of my clips (around 180 of them) and split them into kills, deaths and random deaths. Random deaths are those where I died without any idea where it came from. There are about as many of those as there were in the video I created.

When I get caught out far from the circle, a lot of the time I will cautiously peek around to see if I can see any obvious threats and then I put my gun away and just sprint for the circle. I will stay in the shadows and between trees and and on the low side of hills/ridges etc to reduce my profile, but I am just all out running and an easy target to anyone that knows how to lead a target and account for range. The video would just be scenes of me running while my health drops. You won't get that video because I deleted all of my deaths after making the Death Reel. 20GB+ recovered.

I don't even want to go into the stupid ways I died yesterday. The worst was when I stealth killed a dude in a ghillie suit. Which is AWESOME btw. And then I proceed to die to the damn circle because I was too slow to move. I was fully decked out with scopes and everything. :( I need a circle management class ASAP.

I made a lot of recordings, but I'm not sure I have the patience to actually edit most of them. We shall see. I will upload the one I already edited. It's classic PUBG. Headshot kill a guy and then boom I'm dead because he threw a grenade that I didn't hear.

I am your circle conscience, always watching.

I feel like I have the most circle awareness in our group and you are clearly better at killing but not driving.

In my defense I think it's because I have the vehicle sensitivity set wayyyy too high. Especially with car I fly out of control on the slightest tap. I need to track down the one video. I did a perfect barrel roll in a buggy. Totally on purpose too. :P

My new goal the last day or so is to just stalk people. I'm not even trying to win. For example I landed in the quarry and saw that 2 people dropped in the Ferry area. I stocked up and headed over then stalking the town. Watched the guy loot the entire town and merrily make his way to the car. It didn't end well for him.

So ya I'm that jerk that ganks you when you get in the cars. You're welcome. 8-)

Had a round yesterday where I dropped into the north side of Georgopol and it was right at the end of the plane run.

I didn't see anyone close as I was parachuting in so I leisurely looted a couple of apartment buildings, hearing gunfire in the distance only once.

As I was about to start making my way to the circle I heard movement right outside and since I wasn't trying to be stealthy I was certain they had heard me too. We both went into stealth mode and it becomes a waiting game as to who has the most patience. I lost the waiting game but decided to try to disengage since this is the biggest city on the map I figured I'd lose him if he heard me running and that's exactly what happened.

I made my way east towards the not too distant circle. I kind of needed a vehicle since I'd spent so much time cat and mousing with the other guy. I was able to find a buggy which I took along the paved road east of the city and as I rounded a bend, out in the middle of an open field was a red smoking goodie crate.

I'm traveling at full speed at this point and see another guy running up to the crate so I decide to run him down which worked and then I immediately jumped out to try to speed loot the crate.

I found the elephant gun AWM and the magnum ammo but immediately started taking sniper fire. Clearly there was another person just watching the crate and waiting. I crawled around the crate and managed to draw it out but died shortly thereafer.

My last game I got headshot from an AWM. I called it a night after that.

Oh the other OMG I'm an idiot moment that I might have recorded. I'm in one of the final circles and I hear someone hiding in a shed. I toss in a grenade, but forget to cook it. I watch as he opens the door and I start shooting. He headshot kills me and the grenade goes off in the shed accomplishing nothing. If I had cooked the grenade he would have been toast. I'm not really a fan of the way they have the grenades in this game. In battlefield 1 it's so much easier. Shrug..

I almost pulled the trigger on buying this to see if I could appreciate it in my 2 hour refund window, but was once again stopped by a common theme in the reviews. No, not the "Streamer Sniping" crap. The Optimization crap. It seems that is a fairly large complaint, but I haven't heard a peep from you guys about those issues. Any words on this?

Also, any of you have "slow" internet? I'm restricted to 5Mb/s, although watching steam download things its more like 0.5 Mb/s.

I have a pretty darn old computer and it runs pretty well 90% of the times. Sometimes I'll hit a framerate issue or lag, but it's really nothing that bothers me. I can think of only one time that it was really bad and killed me. People just like to whine. I'm probably at 90 hours played and I feel like I'm just getting the hang of it. It's so addictive to me as it has the just one more round appeal.

The map is huge and i'm always finding things I haven't even seen before + they will be releasing new maps. Not so sure how I'll like the desert theme of the next map, but we'll see. For 30 bucks I think it's a great value.

Oh and my current longest kill? 311 m. I was looking in the wrong place. That's how far away that squad was that I was plinking in revenge. With an 8x scope it's was pretty easy. I think I could pull off 400m. I think I only saw a 15x scope once.

I am not sure what complaint you are referring to here. If it's about performance, it is an early access game so there are going to be some opportunities.

My system specs are posted I believe on the first page of the thread (7th post) for reference and I never have a problem with performance.

The movement seems a little kludgy but that may just be a function of the engine. Increasing the mouse sensitivity for movement (on foot only) helped with this.

This has a very high value for dollars spent in my opinion. I'm closing in on 30 hours played so a dollar and hour is hard to beat and I'm not even close to burning out, not to mention the desert map that is in the works.

I think they've captured something special. Maybe not Minecraft special but it's already near the top spot of concurrent players and is still growing.

Jump in and get into some squad games with us. As much fun as I have single player with this I enjoy it in a squad much more.

Clear sailing here. My system is just about 2 years old now, but it was quite powerful when I got it, and it runs PUBG at higher settings than I need it to, and have recently turned it down a bit to help me identify far away targets. It's an i7 with 16 gigs and a 980gtx. I think when I auto-post a video to youtube the nvidia app actually puts the stats in the description. Chances are Coop's done the same thing, so you can probably look at either of our videos for more detail.

Absolutely no performance issues here.

That's 1 - 3-4 am for me and while that might happen once in awhile on the weekend it's totally not doable for me during the week.

You are shifting time the wrong way here. Of course he is using EST when he likely means EDT so confusion all around. :P

Unlike some of these saps, I am still having an absolute blast with this solo. Squad is fun to change things up, but I don't need it to enjoy the game. (37 hours played and still going strong)

Solo and Squad are totally different beasts. In solo I run around like a madman trying to do things as quickly as possible. In Squad it's more about not killing each other. Which btw we're not always successful at doing. In Squads you tend to get into better fire fights, but I've had some crazy ones in solo as well. I'm really nowhere near getting bored of the game. I'm always thinking of what I'm going to try next and what I did wrong last time. Which I totally end up repeating anyway.

Well, hopefully it's downloading. Am at work, used the phone app to buy and install. With my internet, I'm not expecting it to be done by tonight. Loaded game. Made character. Dressed character. Reviewed settings, controls. Attempted to join NA solo server. Get a screen image that is definitely water or a river, at night, with some sort of ill-defined graphic slowly, incompletely forming in front of me. Never actually becomes something. No keys response, no mouse response. Alt-F4 out of game. Rinse, repeat 4 more times. Final try, drop my quality setting from "Ultra" (which is what it defaulted to) to "Low". Again attempt to join NA solo server. This time can see more of the "river", which is no longer flowing, and three figures are on my screen. They appear frozen. After waiting for something, anything, I alt-F4 out. Here we are. Not a great first impression 18 minutes into my refund window.

Ill take suggestions, but not going forum diving at this hour. That place is pretty toxic looking in any case.

I'm not sure exactly what ELO does in this game? As my relative 'score' increases, does it stick me with harder and harder opponents? 'Cause it feels like it.

My ranking page. My score climbs, my K/D ratio is holding steady, but I'm fighting people who seem a lot more skilled than me overall, consistently. I'm starting to get the hang of shooting people as they run, and people are getting the hang of spotting me from 150m away while I crawl through heavy grass.

It seems like everyone is really on the ball and I'm not sneaking up on many people anymore. Several times last night I had to get up and run for the safe zone and was gunned down by someone else who lying prone until the last possible second (probably later than the last possible second). Lots of people lying prone in the grass. I don't know how they're hitting me so easily. When I'm prone, all I see (scoped or not) is grass when I aim. I have to crouch to get a good aim on anyone. Am I missing some key ingredient here?

Another guy came up to me in a looted building - all of the doors were open. I was on the second floor in a corner away from doors and windows and cleaning my inventory. I heard him coming, and I was already silent and not moving - so I aimed for the only door he could come through. He simply turned through the doorframe and shot me in the face with a shotgun before I could get more than a couple shots into his torso. Either he knew I was there or he's the calmest, deadliest motherf##ker I've ever seen. He didn't flinch, didn't swerve, didn't miss. He came around that blind corner at a full run and took my head off with a single shotgun blast; one click. I was tempted to report him. I've died before like that, but never with such clinical precision. People have always seemed at least a little surprised before. He didn't pause to use 3rd person to check the corner, and there's no way he could have heard me unless it was my heartbeat.

Another person missed the death spam and kept trying to shoot my corpse. He even got fed up with me and hurled a grenade at my body.

I drop more into populated zones now - not for combat, but because the loot just starts off better. I find a lot of Level 3 backpacks in cities, and the odd occassional Sniper Rifle. I even found a very niche sniper rifle - the VSS - but never got to fire it once before handing it off.

I sometimes make it to the top 10, but nowhere near 1st in a while. Last night I think my best was 9th. I had one round with 3 kills, and a few founds with zero. Those rounds where I get zero kills leave me feeling like my whole purpose was to provide the next guy in line with a Level 3 backpack full of goodies.

Still - having a good time and enjoying the tension in the game. :D
Freyland wrote:Ill take suggestions, but not going forum diving at this hour. That place is pretty toxic looking in any case.
That sounds like a video driver issue. Is everything completely up-to-date? Always the first trip when I get a game acting that funky. Audio, video, network, BIOS update check time.

https://pubg.gamepedia.com/Frequently_A ... ions_(FAQ)
Ranking[edit | edit source]
Q: What is the ranking system?
A: ELO to be added in the future after Early Access; An early version of the skill-based matchmaking system is already in the game.

Q: How do I get a better ELO score/rank?
A: It's nothing to do with kills. It's based on the rank the player(s) you are you competing with and player(s) that have died around you. It's based on skill and your own rank. A lot of it is behind closed doors so that people can't take advantage of the system.[6]

Q: How do I lose a ranking?
A: If you die to an utter noob with a low ELO, you will most likely lose ranking depending on their rank.

Q: Stream snipers are killing me, how is PUBG going to combat that in ranking?
A: PUBG will have ranked and unranked servers. But, throughout Early Access you will be put on the ranking system. Once ELO is fine tuned after Early Access, all the noobs that are trying to kill you and ruin your experience, they will be put on different servers according to your ranking. So these stream snipers will never be in a game with you anymore.[7]

Q: I'm I being matched with other people in my ranking?
A: As of now, no. After Early Access you will be matched with people within your ELO ranking.[8]

Q: Will there be unranked servers?
Yes, unranked will come so you can learn the game or fool around without losing your ELO ranking.[9]

The general population might just be getting smarter about the game. It's going to make it harder for all of us.

I was clearly up against a complete newbie last night and he escaped me. We landed in the Ruins and I grabbed a Vector. He ran in circles and climbed terrain, but didn't stop to pick anything up. I plugged him a couple times and emptied a clip or two at him at range as he ran zig-zagging naked into the woods. I eventually gave up and went on to pick up a few items and leave. I was really disappointed that I couldn't take down someone who so clearly couldn't fight. He probably lasted until the top 5. Naked, shivering, and bleeding in a bush.

Thanks. You can tell from the screen shot that it was one of your favorite fog maps.

I did it with the most unlikely of weapons: a Kar98 with a 2x scope (had a 4x but why on a fog map) and a mini uzi with no mods. I normally shun the uzi because I just don't like it but I believe it was involved in all 5 of my kills.

Landed at Katrina which was not my target but I got turned around in the fog and had the whole town to myself. Good thing because outside of the kar98 and a level 3 backpack there was pretty much crap.

Took a pot shot at a guy that showed up in a vehicle outside of town while he was switching to another vehicle but of course didn't hit him.

From there I moved to the ruins where I found a couple grenades and more crap. I worked my way to the church where I spotted another player about 50 meters ahead. I went to the 2x scope and shot at where I saw movement, didn't see a cloud of blood so I followed with 2 frags. Pretty sure I scared the crap out of him because he dropped smoke and ran.

From that point on I followed the circle to the south. The fog allowed me to hit the deck and have a guy pass within 5 feet of me in a buggy. He bailed about 30 meters from me and crept up on a set of buildings with his back to me. Mini uzi kill #1

Then I continued following the circle and was aware of gun fire behind me. At one point I started taking fire from my left but he wasn't connecting and his frag grenade was off the mark. I disengaged but by that time was within 100 meters of what would be the final circle and uzi kills 2-5.

With a combination of luck with the circle placement and patience I was able to engage and kill the other four. The only notable one was a guy that I saw hide behind a tree about 10 feet from me. He never saw me so I waited until he came around and full auto'd him.

Last kill was catching a guy just up the hill from me who had to move or he was going to die to the circle.

And then much chicken was had for dinner.

This. Several times last night I was simply caught in the open with the options being to either run and die or stay and die. The people who killed me probably died from the zone collapse afterwards.

The only thing I can think to do to counter it is either based on luck, or getting a vehicle and hauling ass to the dead-center of the first safe zone, and then dead-center of the second. After that, you can likely crawl in the allotted time to each circle as it shrinks.

If I land in the middle the first circle is bottom right. If I land bottom right the circle is top left. It was maddening last night. Also I played for 3 hours without finding a single scope. And this is landing in main areas. I landing in the military base and could find a vehicle. It was like the game wanted to punch me in the nuts yesterday. I'd say I'm going to take a break tonight, but I would be lying.

A Kar with a 2x scope or even a red dot can be killer in the right hands. I took someone out with a kar and just a red dot last night. One shot he was running from right to left. Wacky Jacky and his 1 to 100 rule FTW.

From my experience playing so far...

Generally...
  • The Ruins has a fair chance at a limited number of SMG's, Sniper Rifles, and Scopes but is exposed and people can see you move around easily. I say limited because it's a wide area with a few good open-air spawn points. If two other people land there, it's going to be slim pickings.
  • The School is good for AR's, Level 2 gear, and Medical supplies - but is a bloodbath. It's FAR too easy to get trapped in a school or locker room while looking for your first gun and end up dead.
  • The Apartments are good for Level 2 Gear and AR's. It seems like a lot of people loot one building and move on. I think apartment buildings everywhere are similar in loot style. These are kind of my favorite general place to try and land/raid first. It's not hard to get a building to yourself and be kitted out by the time you see your first person.
  • The outskirts of towns are generally good for an SMG or AR if you raid 2 or 3 buildings quickly. It can be fairly easy to find a good early kill if someone comes running to you without sneaking.
  • The military base is good for Sniper rifles and Level 3 gear - but you've got to go deep and run fast. The western exposed catwalk has a little something on each of the 5 or 6 ledges going up and down, sometimes sniper gear but often armor, handguns, and backpacks. The hangars can have nice gear, but are exposed to get to and exit. The container maze helps move safely, but you're exposed on all sides.
  • The Shelter/Bunker is middling gear that isn't very concentrated. You can waste a lot of time moving through here. It's usually quiet.
  • Smaller, clustered buildings generally don't yield more than Bandages, Level 1 Backpacks, Ammo, Energy Drinks and the rare SMG/AR. You'd be real lucky to find a scope, but could get Red Dot or Holographic. Sometimes there's Level 2 gear, but it's rare.
  • The Quarry felt like a death trap, but had middling loot in it. I did not explore the basin and felt extremely exposed on the sides.
  • I haven't been in the Shooting Range, Prison, Power Station, or many other "named" areas that are red-zone item spawns.
  • Bridges are kill zones without any loot. Bypass if you can. If I can survive the blue wall, I'll drive my car along the shore to look for a boat or risk swimming instead of going over the bridge.

Power station is a GREAT loot spot. Generally pretty sparse with people dropping as well unless the plane goes right over it. You must have had some bad luck in the shelter as I always run out of there with at least a set of armor and a nice AR. Usually I find a level 2 helmet and chest. Last night I scored a level 3 vest there.

The one spot I had never gone before that I would like to try with the squad is the Mansion. I found A TON of stuff in there last night and the spot seems largely ignore.

I don't drop at the school unless I want to just duke it out with people. There's nothing there that makes it worth fighting 10 other people for. The apartment buildings are safer and have good loot generally. Except yesterday because the game was giving me a big FU yesterday.
