I was thinking magnets the entire time until that one part..NOPE!

A little behinds the scenes of Dune 1984 narrated by Sean Young. Look at that young rogue Patrick Stewart.

I'm not as impressed really, and I'm also amazed P&T said they were fooled.
The fact that the blocks were completely framed by incidental desk lamps and Christmas lights are a bit of a tell (IMO). That being said - I love all magic. (also. I'm sure magnets were a part of it... and the source : 2 'decks of cards')

Well they did mention the lamps and he said he knew what they meant and he tried that and it didn't work. I still found the lamps strange...and the 'pencil' sorta looked like a demagnetizer.

Spoiler:
The lamps framed the glass panel that the blocks were stuck to. No magnets.

I actually had seen the performance in some other video (that and failed to include their review) so I failed to even watch your link, which had their review...
So, I stand corrected.

Great to see them back. A new album too! Nuts. Must be the end of days or something. Mike Score's crazy hair is long gone though darn it. But that guitar work of Paul Reynolds is still sweet. He was just a teen I think when he joined Flock of Seagulls. He's one of a few well known guitarist with a unique sound and talent. Like Eddie Van Halen or Jamie West-Oram of The Fixx.

Heres Jamie from The Fixx talking about guitar hardware but he does some of their riffs starting at 2:30

Guy plays piano with one hand and guitar with the other.

Joe Manganiello and Stephen Colbert talk about D&D. I saw this air last night and was amazed at what I was watching, at least in terms of how long they were just talking about D&D. Not sure about cashing in on nerd culture, but it's still a cool interview to watch.

Awesome. We always did 4d6, drop the lowest, re-roll 1's once. Mundane characters can be fun, but also tiresome when you fail at half of what you try to do. I prefer "Death by Farming" though.

I'm thrilled that D&D and gaming are going more mainstream.

There will be lifelong basement nerds who feel betrayed, but that's the paradox of loving something good enough to win the audience it deserves.

If I had a time machine, I'm pretty sure one of my first stops would be to go back and see Jethro Tull in their prime. Ian Anderson's solo during "My God" in 1970 (starts around 3:12) is insane.

I saw Tull at the Orpheum in Boston. Internet tells me it was probably 1994 or 95. Ian Anderson still had it going on. Internet also tells me they're coming back to Boston next month for a 50th anniversary tour. I imagine that must've sold out ages ago.

I barely even remember their name from the old days. Then the next thing I heard was winning heavy metal award . My God that was horrible. They won over Metallica...stupid damn award show. Heavy metal my ass lol. Hard rock I can accept. Of course that was all one award then and now are separate ones...probably because of that. I think I did see something on them about adding the flute lol. Was pretty funny. The only song I know from them is bungle in the jungle.

Saw them only once and it was way back in the day, 1978 at The Forum in L.A. with Uriah Heep as the opener. You could barely see through the pot smoke it was so thick at first. And we had to dodge a river of barfed up vodka that came running down the floor towards us... good times. :P

This guy lives in AZ and dives the water and rivers there to find stuff. And he finds a lot of stuff. Also a lot of phones. He gets in touch with the owners of the phones and such as he can and returns them free. Ive watched a lot of his stuff this weekend. Nice guy. In this vid the owner wants to repay him so he accepts some food :)

Man in this one I feel a bit sorry for the child actors.

9-10 Indians die each day in train deaths. I cant put my finger on why...do you see any reason?

The US has something like 3.5 deaths per day if you average them out and include trains hitting automobiles. India has almost quadruple the US population. It's impressive that they're, per capita, safer than we are around trains.

People are so creative it's insane. People create without even thinking about it, when they're bored, between classes, in ways that I can't imagine even if I had weeks to come up with this stuff. I'm constantly impressed by the human spirit and it's creativity. Even fart jokes impress me, if they're creative enough.

What a strange creature is man (and by that, I mean humanity).

This post will bore some of you.

Old London 1000hp steam engine startup and run. Same size engines were on Titanic. Takes a little donkey motor to get the piston in position to have steam let in.

The Kempton Park Steam Engines (also known as the Kempton Great Engines) are two large triple-expansion steam engines, dating from 1926--1929, at the Kempton Park waterworks, Middlesex, London. The were manufactured by Worthington-Simpson. Each engine is of a similar size to that used in RMS Titanic and rated at about 1008 hp. They each pumped 19 million gallons of water a day, to supply north London with drinking water taken from the River Thames. These are the largest triple expansion engines still running in the world! They were the last working survivors when they were finally retired from service in 1980. Here is one of the engineers engaging the barring engine, into the fly wheel in order to line the pistons of the main engine in the correct position for the admission of steam, to start. A truly remarkable sight, showing the years of dedicated restoration work to get the engine running again. Well worth a visit, check their web site for live steaming weekends.
