I think if Trump becomes president Louis CK is going to have to rethink this
bit about the president calling him and what he'd do if he were president, because I'm pretty sure at that point pretty much anything becomes believable.

Speakers at Donald Trump’s Convention: Tim Tebow, Peter Thiel, but No Sarah Palin?
A night highlighting the tragedy in Benghazi, Libya. An appearance by onetime football star Tim Tebow. A presentation detailing former President Bill Clinton’s sexual misconduct.
Donald J. Trump, the presumptive nominee, has been promising a different kind of Republican National Convention, and plans obtained by The New York Times show that he is eager to put his showbiz stamp on the party’s gathering, even as he struggles to attract A-list talent.

Is Clint Eastwood and his chair unavailable this year?

I assume it will be a compare and contrast with Trump's to show how much more fabulous Trump's was.

The party's penis obsession never ceases to amaze me. It's just so bizarre and one of the reasons I've drifted away. I started to feel like I was the only conservative who didn't care about other people's dicks.

His ego wouldn't have it any other way. My deeply held hatred of Trump started years ago after hearing him rail on and on about how famous a lover he was after he appeared on the Howard Stern show alongside some semi-famous and handsome actor. Trump's ego couldn't handle the fact that the conversation about women this actor had dated didn't include Trump, so he got into an argument with him over who had "bedded more beautiful women".
Well, it wasn't really an argument as the actor kind of just sat back and listened to Trump in incredulous awe of the man's ridiculousness. To this day, one of my favorite things is to hear Trump insulted to his face. It almost always ends in some ludicrous diatribe on the part of the tiny handed, orange sociopath as he frantically tries to assure everyone that he is the living embodiment of perfection.

The rumor is that Trump's team approached Condi Rice this week, and she turned it down flat.
Pence is an appeal for Evangelical support. But, wow, the charisma there is really lacking.

In response to Rice's rejection, Trump is now building a wall between himself and the black community.

I think I was wrong about the right embracing social media, most of it looks like the left posing as the right, and posting the most idiotic conservative "sounding" arguments in order to discredit the right.

This is why I was skeptical Trump would pick Gingrich or Christie. Both of them had the potential to upstage him, something Trump's ego would never allow. He needs some vanilla guy that just blends into the background.
Case in point - at lunch the CNN headline said that Pence was the likely VP pick. Everyone at the table looked at each other and said "Who the fuck is Mike Pence?"

What Newt Gingrich Really Thinks of Donald Trump
Gingrich suggested Trump’s move from campaigning to governing would be challenging: “How we make the transition from, you know, language for fourth graders to real policy, I don’t know.”
His comments came in a February speech in Washington to the Republican State Leadership Committee, months before he began angling to become Trump’s vice presidential choice.
Gingrich’s remarks, captured on a previously undisclosed recording of the speech reviewed by ProPublica, mixed admiration for Trump’s success in the primaries and skepticism about whether he could prevail in a general election.
“This is not a guy who’s shallow or simple, but he is a guy who knows an immense amount about marketing, which is why he talks at a fourth-grade level. He talks at the lowest level of any candidate in either party, not because he’s stupid,” Gingrich said told the crowd of executive-level political staffers and corporate sponsors. “He does it because he knows if you talk at a fourth-grade level everybody can understand you.”

Well, that's true. It's pretty easy to understand when Trump's message has mostly been "I'm awesome, trust me" and "I hate the same people you hate" and "those other guys (and now girl) are dummies".
Now if he was putting his policies into 4th grade language I'd be more likely to give him the benefit of the doubt, but who am I kidding, Trump wouldn't know a policy if it bit him on the wall.

And there's this most excellent
troll from the WH today:
President Obama’s chief spokesman Josh Earnest lauded Indiana Gov. Mike Pence (R) for deciding to expand Medicaid in his state under ObamaCare.
"I know that Gov. Pence did do some important work with the administration to expand Medicaid in his state," Earnest told reporters when asked what Obama thinks of the governor. "That’s something President Obama has been encouraging Democratic and Republican governors across the country to do."
The spokesman added, however, he would "leave it to the individual candidates to determine who they believe would best complement their skills and could lead their party."

Donald Trump loves to inveigh against the evils of political correctness. And perhaps nothing is less politically correct than saying one plans to teabag a stranger’s mother. The uncharitable quip is very much in character for White.
Sounds like vice-presidential material to me.

I'm sure Trump is gleefully salivating at the chance to market this vanilla candidate however he sees fit. The evangelicals will love Pence by default, but for everyone else he's a blank slate.
I think Gingrich would be a powerhouse, but Trump can't have someone up there that runs circles around him intellectually.
