Now, if people want to call the entire device "a mirror", then the discussion changes.
Yes, the discussion changed from nitpicking over his choice of words to answering his actual question. :coffee:

You can drink your coffee all you want, but I did answer his question. You just seemed more interested in pointing out that I was wrong. But thanks for the snide response. I think I'll just go back to not participating.

You wanted your point to be acknowledged, and I obliged you. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I don't get this take at all. TheMix is right - the answer to the question is no. For all the options you've come up with, you might as well just have a camera take a picture, flip it, and re-display it. It has as much relation to a mirror as what has been proposed and is way easier. A better question is why anyone would want this in daily life - it'll really mess with your head to see it in action.

I guess we just need to agree to disagree with regard to what Daehawk was actually asking. I thought he wanted a way to see himself without the image being mirrored (and I suggested using the selfie camera on a phone to take a picture as one way to do it). Telling him that actual mirrors don't do what he wants to do doesn't help him do what he wants to do. The discussion progressed beyond that point, as discussions do, when it turned out that gadgets and apps do exist that do what he wanted to do.

As to why people want to have a reverse-mirror image, I dunno. Clearly there is a demand of some sort, otherwise the double-reflection "true image" gadgets wouldn't exist, nor would the plethora of smartphone apps.

Ive seen some amazing tech coming out of the CES 2025 videos online this year. One of the coolest was this augmented reality makeup tester. The irl..mighta been Trisha Hershberger...sat in a chair and it displayed all these different colors and styles of makeups on her like eyeshadows and such and it tracker her so she could move around in real time..didn't have to move slowly..and it stayed in place at angles and such. Was way cool.

In the 1730s, 20 shillings could buy 50 acres of land in Maryland or about 3 pounds of beef in New England.
That's... quite an equivalency.

If only I could sell what's in my freezer and buy a homestead with the proceeds today.

I’m just annoyed some dork decided the dollar would be our unit of currency and not beef.

Just how many hamburgers does it take to buy a hamburger in today's economy?
