I had to read this three times before I understood that it didn't involve Dwayne Johnson.

In case you’re wondering, the world record skips is 88.
88? That's insane. I would have guessed like 16 or so.
Friggin’ performance enhancing drugs, most likely. Russians are banned from most tournaments because of that.

88? Fricking Nazi rock skippers...

Or pianists. 88 usually means either Nazis or piano aficionados.

Immediately following the Rock Skipping Championships were the National Air Guitar Finals. Which were wildly disappointing. The competitors were legit terrible. I’ve done far better air guitar routines in my living room.

I find when Im bored I eat and the last two days Ive ate 2 or 3 times a day what I normally eat. I can stuff myself but i still have an urge to eat something. Last night I ended with normal ramen. I can barely finish it and was almost sick from it. I could barely breath i was so full. This morning I started again as soon as I got out of bed. Im stuffed right now but thinking of food and what I could fix to eat. Lucky I have plenty of stock and stuff to choose from. I fixed sloppy joes 3 days ago and have one more sandwich to make today to finish it up. But Ive been eating all kinds of other things or I would have got bored of it.

I have these episodes where i get so bored I dont play games..just YouTube and eat. Im in one now . And I always gain weight..like from 200 to 215 sometimes. Im already 215 so i hope not . I need to get below 192 again.

I have low sleep anyways and now that my little dog has a injured hip he has trouble getting comfortable and sleeping a long time. im guessing he may sleep 3 hours if he can at a time then he needs to move off that hip and walk a while. I cant afford the vert until next Monday if I can get a ride . I feel awful about that but i cant do anything else. And then have to ask they limit the cost. I still have ZERO caught up on that $2000 credit card yet from 2 years ago. I just toss away money each month to keep it current.

Anyways Ive been up all night or all day and then i switch and sleep a little in the floor with him..like an hour or two... around 3pm. he sleeps in the bed at night. his floor bed is heated and used when im up. Anyways I went to bed at 11pm last night but we got up at 5am.

So cooked homemade chili lol.

Im so worried about him it made me sick yesterday. ill be glad when my check comes..then goes straight out again.

Lester Holt, the anchor and managing editor of “NBC Nightly News” for a decade, announced Monday that he is stepping down from the long-running broadcast at the beginning of the summer.

Holt will continue to be a fixture at the network with a full-time role at “Dateline,” where he has been the principal anchor for almost 15 years, according to a memo shared with network staff Monday.

NBC News did not immediately name Holt’s successor.

I adulted like a real adult today by finally getting to the nearest Service Ontario office to renew my provincial health card before it expires next week. I had planned to set out early enough to get there before they open at 0900, but didn't arrive until 0910. The place was already standing room only and with 30 people ahead of me I ended up waiting for about an hour before my number was called. I had the paperwork filled out in advance, so the actual renewal just took a couple of minutes.

Overall, the expedition took a little over 3 hours -- a one hour hike to get there, an hour standing and waiting for my number to be called, and an hour stroll back home. My Fitbit is a little freaked out because my "cardio load goal" was 13-25, and I racked up a score of 135 for the day. The Fitbit app is like "Dude, slow down for the rest of the day."

Of the 50 or 60 people that passed through while I was there, maybe a half dozen (myself included) were masked up. A couple of people just had procedure masks, and the rest of us had N95s. This is probably the most close-contact I've had in the last 5 years, so it'll be hilarious if I fail my saving throw even with the mask and end up catching my first bout of COVID/flu/RSV/whatever-else-is-going-around while updating my healthcare docs. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Anyway, to celebrate being a responsible adult for literally one morning of one day I have a strip loin prepping in the sous vide for supper tonight. I feel like I earned a proper meal.

Always liked Lester. He had a distinct sounding voice and look. Always felt and feels strange to me when celebs and news folk die or leave that Ive watched all or a large part of my life. News folk more so as I see them almost every day compared to movie and tv stars. Dan Rather, Walter Cronkite, and of course all my local news folk.

I've been buzzing my hair myself for 20 or 30 years at this point. I keep it very short, but not actually shaved. My preferred tool for the job is the Remington Shortcut Pro, but when the battery died in mine a couple of years ago I couldn't find a replacement (there were plenty of Chinese knockoffs on Amazon, but I couldn't find an actual Remington anywhere), so I got a Conair rotary head trimmer instead. It's OK, but not as good as the Remington.

Kinda strange seeing the 2025 date. This is way beyond the year 2000 when for some reason as a small kid I thought was the far future. In one of my elementary classes a teacher told us we'll all see past the year 2000. this was the 1970s you have to understand. I thought something like "Wow Ill see the future!"..I was thinking flying cars, a moon base and such.

Well here we are. We do have phones in our pockets and AI you can chat with. but its nowhere near the future I envisioned as that small kid.

Me as well.
I've often wondered how different my life would have been if I grew up in the 2000s/2010s instead of the 70s, especially with my early fationation with technology as a kid.

In the 20th century we thought technology would change the conditions by which we live. We thought tech was a world-maker.

It turns out technology was really just a money-maker. We just got more wrapped up by consumerism.

As the saying goes, different writers promised us different things.

Some promised us flying cars, moon colonies, and robot butlers.

Some promised us aliens living among us, global unity, and a utopia.

Some promised us a corporate cyberpunk dystopia.

Some of them were right - we got what we were promised.
