Truth does not matter. Not at all. Because, when you’re famous, you can say whatever you want.

Excepting of course that the draft never has gone away. It’sthe selective service.

And for some key skills you are always on call to be drafted by congress or the president .

And the republicans sent national guard units to Iraq.

Harris might have Taylor Swift's endorsement, but that's nothing compared to Trump being backed by none other than Ricky Jam!

Donald Trump Mistakenly Introduces Male Latin Singer Nicky Jam at Rally as a Woman: ‘Do You Know Nicky? She’s Hot!’
Reggaetón singer Nicky Jam is backing Donald Trump for president — but Trump was apparently under the mistaken impression that he was a “hot” woman.

At Trump’s campaign rally Friday in Las Vegas, the GOP presidential candidate announced the endorsement of “Latin music superstar Nicky Jam”: “Do you know Nicky? She’s hot!”

Trump, peering into the crowd, continued, “Where’s Nicky? Where’s Nicky? Thank you, Nicky. Great to be having you here.”

When the bestubbled Nicky Jam — wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat — emerged from the crowd onto the stage and shook Trump’s hand, Trump realized his error and said, “Oh look! Come here. I’m glad he came up.”

In his comments on stage, Nicky Jam said, “It’s an honor to meet you, Mr. President. People that come from where I come from, they don’t meet the president. So I’m lucky. We need you. We need you back, right? We need you to be the president.” Nicky Jam was born in Massachusetts and moved to Puerto Rico with his family when he was a kid.

Every day that TFG exists as a viable, serious candidate should be a shameful, embarrassing representation for a significant number of Americans.

Somebody may have taken a shot at Trump again.
Former President Donald Trump is safe following gunshots "in his vicinity" on Sunday, according to his campaign.

“President Trump is safe," his campaign communications director, Steven Cheung, said, adding there were "No further details at this time".

The Secret Service confirmed in a post on X that they were investigating a "protective incident" involving Trump that took place shortly before 14:00 EST (19:00 BST).

It has already been confirmed that this was two random Florida Mans taking shots at each other. No connection to Trump.

Of course the campaign is pushing the news to distract from Vance's disastrous admission of racist lying and Trump's attack on Taylor Swift this morning.

Yeah when I saw the Trump campaign statement I figured it's probably not an attack on Trump, as if there were any indication of that presumably the campaign would have played it up.

Is there a source for it not being an asassination attempt?

All news outlets left and right still reporting an assassination attempt.

Seriously these idiots are going to get trump reelected.

Now we are going to get the typical the democrats are fostering political violence and need to stop calling for the assassination of their political opponents unlike trump who has never done anything wrong and never said he hated anyone…

According to the briefing (via the BBC), it may have been two Florida mans, but it was likely an assassination attempt.
The FBI, Secret Service and local Sheriff's office have just given a press conference.

If you're just joining us, or are in need of a recap, here's what they said:

At about 13:30 local time a call came in from the Secret Service saying that shots had been fired

Police units then sealed off the area immediately
Secret Service say the official in charge of staying one hole ahead of Trump on his golf course spotted a rifle sticking out of bushes and their agents opened fire
A witness then saw a man running from bushes and entering a black Nissan car which was pulled over by police and the man was detained

An AK-47 style rifle with a scope was recovered from a bush where the suspect was seen, along with two backpacks and a GoPro camera

Nope, the FBI has said that it was an "attempted assassination attempt". Apparently a secret service agent who was a hole ahead of Trump saw a rifle barrel sticking out of a fence, confronted the suspect, who fled. Not sure the suspect's status.

edit: suspect is in custody.

This is the NYT live update.

Sounds like there were two incidents.

1. Florida man fired at other Florida man outside MAL, unrelated to Trump.
2. Someone was sticking at AK through a fence, specifically targeting Trump. The Secret Service shot at him and he took off before he fired. He was apprehended.

From the AP reporting

It's so weird. Loomer was a marginal figure hanging around the white-supremacist fringes of MAGA world for such a long time, and now she's suddenly not only in the inner circle but posing with Trump's hands on her in ways we've only seen him try to do with Ivanka.
Apparently, she looks good in a bikini. I watched a couple of videos where they brought up her untethered conspiracy theories, and also posted her cheesecake pics. I wonder that she isn't selling posters.

I dunno. We're talking about people who weren't already going to vote for him, now voting for him because...potshot. HE might thrive on the victimhood of two assassination attempts, but I don't see it swaying any actual votes.

It lets him tickle his toes in the pool of martyrdom, and lets him share 'theories' about how the left is responsible. Both get his base worked up.

I'm not sure that anyone likely to get worked up in that way wasn't already voting for him, but it could bring out a few people who were already decided, but too lazy to stand in line to vote. I doubt at this point that it's enough to move the needle, barring another Florida 2000.

Grain of salt time.

Multiple sources (including the AP) are identifying him as Ryan Routh of either Hawaii or North Carolina (business owner in Honolulu, registered to vote in NC), an unaffiliated voter who supported Trump in 2016, and apparently Biden afterwards. He's also an anti-vaxxer with a criminal record involving weapons.

Plenty of room for spinning him either way.

If you want the climax to be someone shooting nearby but then someone else maybe trying to shoot Trump but not actually shooting, I'm going to need some serious corroboration.

This is just really bad. I can't stand Trump, but I don't want to see him or anyone else shot. And it is likely IMO that someone is going to try and retaliate from that side of things. It's just another measure of how deeply divided the country is on fundamental issues.

This sounds like tin foil hat type sentiment to me. Unless I’m misunderstanding you, you’re suggesting that this dude in the bushes with an AK a hole ahead of where Trump is golfing is . . . not there to shoot Trump? Or a Trump operative self-sacrificing to change the focus of the news cycle?

I do not understand.
