Empathy/trick/squawk - the actual communication is flavor, and technically I should probably actually pick the tricks he knows ( I can't recall if I did)Chaosraven wrote:Remind me what you get from him (empathy, telepathic link, indecipherable squawk)
Wild Empathy (Ex)
A druid can improve the attitude of an animal. This ability functions just like a Diplomacy check made to improve the attitude of a person. The druid rolls 1d20 and adds her druid level and her Charisma modifier to determine the wild empathy check result.
The typical domestic animal has a starting attitude of indifferent, while wild animals are usually unfriendly.
To use wild empathy, the druid and the animal must be able to study each other, which means that they must be within 30 feet of one another under normal conditions. Generally, influencing an animal in this way takes 1 minute but, as with influencing people, it might take more or less time.
A druid can also use this ability to influence a magical beast with an Intelligence score of 1 or 2, but she takes a -4 penalty on the check.
Link (Ex)
A druid can handle her animal companion as a free action, or push it as a move action, even if she doesn’t have any ranks in the Handle Animal skill. The druid gains a +4 circumstance bonus on all wild empathy checks and Handle Animal checks made regarding an animal companion.
Seek (DC 15): The animal moves into an area and looks around for anything that is obviously alive or animate.
So handle animal check on my part - I guess he would simply answer me yes/no with a variable pitch squeak or whatever
+7 (skill) - +4 (circumstance bonus for being my companion) + Take 10
21 for Handle Animal
Wild Empathy Check
1d20+4
16+4 = 20
So er' yeah

Since it would have required us to travel past dark to get to it, I wasn't really planning on approaching it until morning, assuming the group wanted to check it out.Chaosraven wrote:Mwah Hahahahaaaa!! Agreed on all counts. I can just picture CR, hands steepled, drumming his fingers against each other, while Smithers pines for him silently in the background.Grafvolluth wrote:A shitty week at work, and this is just what the doctor ordered.Chaosraven wrote:plans back on sir, they may check it out in the morning.

The splashing noises, though faint, draw your attention to the tree... in the moonlight you can see many humanoid shapes come from the water and wander to and fro around the tree very slowly

As quietly as possible, I'll alert the rest of the camp to the activity. Does it look like the humanoids have any interest in us or anything besides the tree? How far away is the tree?

If we are travelling along the stream and these trogledytes are coming out of the water, I'm concerned about our travel plans for the future.

Hard to tell with the odd pattern of movement, but it looks to be more than six... maybe as much as a dozen.GrandMof wrote:Can we count how many Troglodytes are around the tree?
Which brings to mind two questions... where are their weapons and where are their mounts? Usually with a group this size you would expect a few large lizards as mule/mount.
