Just for the record, the debate schedule was formed last September by a panel of Republicans and Democrats. They didn't want to schedule any debate on Friday or Saturday, since that would get low ratings. The NFL has games on Sunday, Monday, and Thursday, so unless all the debates were on Tuesday or Wednesday, it was going to conflict with something.

i'm not sure why the NFL doesn't just schedule the full week, since they're clearly the most important institution in the US

It is really dumb to schedule anything opposite the NFL. At least go up against a Thursday night game. Those always suck.

When did they schedule the debates last election?

The final one was on a Monday that conflicted with an NFL game. The other two were on a Tuesday and Wednesday.

And of course you can't watch a debate later because everybody just spoils it at the watercooler the next morning.

Wait, you're telling me a debate conflicted with football last time, and we still elected a President? How?

It is just staggering what a personal shitstorm of a human being he is. Regardless of his qualifications or lack of them, he can't help lashing out at anyone in his path.

For those wondering, the debates coincide with Atlanta at New Orleans (9/26) and Giants at Green Bay (10/6).

What gets me is that Trump is saying stuff like this every single day, and the people who support him just don't care. I'm sorry, I've been one of the biggest anti-Hillary people on the planet for literally decades now, and even I can't see electing this walking disaster over her. Not from a Republican or Democratic standpoint, just from a decent human being standpoint. I wish some people's humanity would win out over their political affiliation for once.

I've already had multiple Trump supporters tell me that he wasn't insinuating anything with his "she wasn't allowed to speak" and that it's all just the liberal media attacking him. :liar:

Can you fathom the shit storm, if a Democrat or really anyone other than Trump responded to a veterans parent in this way?
If you go back and watch the video of what is an amazingly moving and heartfelt speech (even for an old curmudgeon like me) she looks scared to death. Clearly she wasn't prepared to say anything on this big a stage.

90% of people wouldn't be, Hillary's been doing this her whole adult life and it took her 20 minutes to warm up. Live performance is Terrifying.

And fwiw, it's somewhat easier to deliver a message than to be idle on stage. At least when you're delivering the message your brain is occupied with something other omfg tens of thousands of people are staring at me.

It is a conspiracy. If any competent Republican won the nomination, H. Clinton would be finished already. Only in this bizarro world would the disaster Clinton be elected. And would someone coach her inflection. Holy Shit! I can not stand to hear her speak for four more years. Instant mute when her face appears.

Why do you think that is. Her voice is higher than is normally popular. And she has a weird forced positivity that faded after 20 minutes on stage. But ,out of curiosity, why for you particularly is it something that even registers on her appropriateness to lead?

I'm not trying to be obnoxious but the longer this goes on I'm becoming less disgusted with Clinton. When I hear "she gives bad speeches and her voice is shrill" next to "that woman who lost her son is an oppressed muslim!" I can't wrap my head around it.

You made it 20 minutes? B. Clinton knew how to speak. H. Clinton has no clue. She can yell the message, but I doubt anyone but the devoted has actually heard it. And it does not register on my appropriateness for leadership. It does not matter in this election cycle anyway as neither major party candidate is appropriate to lead.

Hillary should say to Trump that the conflict wouldn't be a big deal if he hadn't single-handedly tanked the USFL.

It was difficult but yes, and that's the deal. Her voice dropped , she settled in, and she started feeling it. The rest of her speech was great.

Who gives a shit about how her voice sounds? I keep hearing this complaint, but honestly, it doesn't bother me, and I don't pick leaders based on the pitch of their voice anyway.

This is one of the most eye rollingest elections ever.

Clinton's not a big-stadium orator, but in interviews and in the debates she comes off as confident and knowledgeable. In the Clinton/Sanders debates, I always thought he suffered from not knowing how to modulate his stridency, while she had better presentation.

But of course they're both miles ahead of Trump. I know I can't stand his voice in part because I hate him, but it's also because no one has any right to that tone of bullying arrogance. No matter the context or what he's saying, Trump always sounds like someone whose only goal is to keep you from getting a word in.

The only people who can get away with referring to themselves in the third person are The Hulk and followers of the Many-Faced god. Since I doubt Trump can lift even his own body weight, and I've yet to hear of any Clinton aides suddenly dying mysteriously in great numbers, Trump is clearly not one of these.

Indeed. Honestly I'm getting tired of hearing "I just can't stand Hillary. She's so <insert harpy female stereotype here>. "I dont really give a damn if she's "likable" or not. I don't care if she gives a good speech (and for the last eight years I had to listed to Rs tell me how irrelevant that was for a president anyway. ) I do care that, by most reasonable accounts from the left AND right she's intelligent, reasonable and competent, and that stands in direct contrast to her opponent in this election. These are the choices I have, and it's crystal clear who the more suited candidate is.

So Der Drumpfster is claiming he has a letter from the NFL bitching about the debate schedule because the debate will draw viewership from the "big games". (The NFL, of course, denies this. I'm torn on who to believe).

So which is it, Drumpfster? You don't want to take part because the "big games" will get too much attention, or the NFL is pissed because the debates will get too much attention. It can't be both.

This weekend is the perfect example of how dangerous he could be. He flat out lied about the NFL and the Kochs requesting a meeting. He also managed to find time to complain about a fire marshall and attack Khan and his wife. The more power he amasses the more mendacious he gets. And many people simply don't care. Sad!

Trump rescued from stalled elevator
They were rescued by firefighters with the Colorado Springs Fire Department, which lowered a ladder into the elevator, allowing Trump and his entourage to climb out.
Trump eventually took the stage at the rally, where he opened his remarks by blasting the local fire marshal for shutting off entry to his campaign event due to capacity restrictions.
"This is why our country doesn't work," Trump said as he slammed the Colorado Springs fire marshal during the rally, moments after the department's firefighters rescued him. The paper reported that Trump said the fire marshal "didn't know what he was doing and 'was probably a Democrat.' "
Fire marshal Brett Lacey told a local TV station that organizers handed out too many tickets and the venue couldn't accommodate all of the people who wanted to attend.
