I don't think it's loyalty.

I get the feeling that irrational spiritual and bigoted rage has been looking for their voice and they've found it. When it is silenced, I am not sure they will all go back to being largely silent, especially if they are told they are being silence by treachery from their acting voice.

Of course the Internet is giant echo chamber and maybe there is no more rage mounting over the last 15 or more years and things like disenfranchised white kids trying to start race wars by burning black churches was more common than I thought in my lifetime.

Clint Eastwood speaks out in support of Trump; no comment from the chair.
Clint Eastwood, the 86-year-old four-time Oscar winner, excoriated the current generation of Americans as weak and overly sensitive while backing Donald Trump even though the Republican presidential hopeful has "said a lot of dumb things." Eastwood, a prominent celebrity supporter of the Republican Party who appeared at its 2012 presidential nominating convention, offered a harsh assessment of Americans in an interview with Esquire magazine published on Wednesday. "He's onto something because secretly everybody's getting tired of political correctness, kissing up," the acclaimed actor and director said of Trump. "That's the kiss-ass generation we're in right now. We're really in a pussy generation. Everybody's walking on eggshells." "We see people accusing people of being racist and all kinds of stuff. When I grew up, those things weren't called racist," Eastwood added. Given the choice between Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and Trump in the Nov. 8 election, Eastwood said, "That's a tough one, isn't it? I'd have to go for Trump ... you know, 'cause she's declared that she's gonna follow in Obama's footsteps."

First, I didn't say that.
Oops, sorry CC! Too much copying and pasting while uncaffeinated. Fixed.

I actually agree with Clint Eastwood to an extent. I do think the rise of social media and the ability for everyone to give an opinion has turned everyone into armchair judge, jury, and executioner. We are quick to judge, and just as quick to cry victim, because either way we get instant gratification from dozens if not thousands of other people. There are a LOT of people in this world who use drama as a form of attention-gathering, and they exploit this all the time.

On the other hand, we can't let those who exploit it disguise the very real discrimination in the world. As a friend of mine retweeted today, saying you're not politically correct is just a politically correct way of saying you're racist. I don't think we can use that as a blanket statement, but I get the gist of it. You can't hide your real prejudices under the cover of "rebelling against political correctness."

As an aside, the full Eastwood (and son) interview is up on Esquire's site. Here's the chunk where Eastwood bestows his political wisdom:
ESQ: Your characters have become touchstones in the culture, whether it's Reagan invoking "Make my day" or now Trump … I swear he's even practiced your scowl.

CE: Maybe. But he's onto something, because secretly everybody's getting tired of political correctness, kissing up. That's the kiss-ass generation we're in right now. We're really in a pussy generation. Everybody's walking on eggshells. We see people accusing people of being racist and all kinds of stuff. When I grew up, those things weren't called racist. And then when I did Gran Torino, even my associate said, "This is a really good script, but it's politically incorrect." And I said, "Good. Let me read it tonight." The next morning, I came in and I threw it on his desk and I said, "We're starting this immediately."

ESQ: What is the "pussy generation"?

CE: All these people that say, "Oh, you can't do that, and you can't do this, and you can't say that." I guess it's just the times.

ESQ: What do you think Trump is onto?

CE: What Trump is onto is he's just saying what's on his mind. And sometimes it's not so good. And sometimes it's … I mean, I can understand where he's coming from, but I don't always agree with it.

ESQ: So you're not endorsing him?

CE: I haven't endorsed anybody. I haven't talked to Trump. I haven't talked to anybody. You know, he's a racist now because he's talked about this judge. And yeah, it's a dumb thing to say. I mean, to predicate your opinion on the fact that the guy was born to Mexican parents or something. He's said a lot of dumb things. So have all of them. Both sides. But everybody—the press and everybody's going, "Oh, well, that's racist," and they're making a big hoodoo out of it. Just fucking get over it. It's a sad time in history.

ESQ: What troubles you the most?

CE: We're not really … what troubles me is … I guess when I did that silly thing at the Republican convention, talking to the chair …

ESQ: I didn't say it was silly.

CE: It was silly at the time, but I was standing backstage and I'm hearing everybody say the same thing: "Oh, this guy's a great guy." Great, he's a great guy. I've got to say something more. And so I'm listening to an old Neil Diamond thing and he's going, "And no one heard at all / Not even the chair." And I'm thinking, That's Obama. He doesn't go to work. He doesn't go down to Congress and make a deal. What the hell's he doing sitting in the White House? If I were in that job, I'd get down there and make a deal. Sure, Congress are lazy bastards, but so what? You're the top guy. You're the president of the company. It's your responsibility to make sure everybody does well. It's the same with every company in this country, whether it's a two-man company or a two-hundred-man company… . And that's the pussy generation—nobody wants to work.

ESQ: You've campaigned for office. If you were going to write a stump speech for this election, what would you say?

CE: "Knock it off. Knock everything off." All these people out there rattling around the streets and stuff, shit. They're boring everybody. Chesty Puller, a great Marine general, once said, "You can run me, and you can starve me, and you can beat me, and you can kill me, but don't bore me." And that's exactly what's happening now: Everybody is boring everybody. It's boring to listen to all this shit. It's boring to listen to these candidates.

ESQ: What would you like to see change?

CE: I'd say get to work and start being more understanding of everybody—instead of calling everybody names, start being more understanding. But get in there and get it done. Kick ass and take names. And this may be my dad talking, but don't spend what you don't have. That's why we're in the position we are in right now. That's why people are saying, "Why should I work? I'll get something for nothing, maybe." And going around and talking about going to college for free. I didn't go to college for free. I mean, it was cheap, because I went to L. A. City College—it wasn't like going to a major university. But it was okay. And then, you know, I didn't finish, because I decided to become an actor, ruin my whole life. [Everyone laughs.]

ESQ: What do you think of Hillary?

CE: What about her? I mean, it's a tough voice to listen to for four years. It could be a tough one. If she's just gonna follow what we've been doing, then I wouldn't be for her.

ESQ: But if the choice is between her and Trump, what do you do?

CE: That's a tough one, isn't it? I'd have to go for Trump … you know, 'cause she's declared that she's gonna follow in Obama's footsteps. There's been just too much funny business on both sides of the aisle. She's made a lot of dough out of being a politician. I gave up dough to be a politician. I'm sure that Ronald Reagan gave up dough to be a politician.

What's that about rigging elections?

http://time.com/4354986/ohio-is-purging ... districts/
In a controversial policy that could tip the swing state’s scales in favor of Republicans in November, Ohio has removed tens of thousands of registered voters from the rolls because they have not cast a ballot since 2008.

According to a Reuters investigation, in Ohio’s three biggest counties, voters have been taken off the rolls in neighborhoods that trend Democratic at roughly twice the rate as in Republican-leaning neighborhoods. At least 144,000 voters have lost their registration in those three counties alone, Reuters reports. Voters who have lost their registration must re-register at least 30 days prior to election day on November 8.

That seems super sketchy. I'm sure they're doing as much as they can to make absolutely certain that the people affected are notified that they now only have two months to register if they want to vote in the elections, and then make it very easy to re-register. I'm sure hardly anyone will be turned away from the polls because of this.

It could be sketchy or this could be normal routine activity. They may purge every election and use 8 years inactivity as a benchmark. Or they don't and it is a little more nefarious. By the article it indicates they've been doing this for "decades" so that leans towards normal activity and this is all just grousing IMO. If it were up to me, to avoid the appearance of shenanigans I'd do it with a 8-10 year period *and* only during a mid-term because it is lower turnout (less chance at disfranchisement) but that's just my opinion. :)

My bad. Your rightish
Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted, a Republican, says canceling registrations for voters who missed three straight federal elections helps keep voting rolls current. Since 2011, the state has cleared out more than 2 million records of people who have moved or died, he said.
This is a five year long process so far. Not something just starting.

He has a huge swath of the American people that will bend over backwards to work with him. In the past, he had to at least fake being human, now he knows exactly who he can deal with and they won't care how much of a low life he is. It's perfect for him.

And let's face it, Drumpf is no more a Republican than he is a Democrat. Republicans are struggling to support him because they know he's not a member of their party. He's nothing. He should be torn apart by any decent human being, and he is. Those that aren't are either not paying attention, like YK's mom, or are glad to finally be able to voice their hatred in a supportive environment. Or are anarchists, I guess.

I think a good part of it - and a lot of what happened with Bernie - was that people are tired of the status quo and are using those two candidates as protest votes. When things go so heated going into the primary, many of them buckled down and stubbornized, putting on blinders.

And a lot of them just aren't smart enough to realize what should happen if they actually win.

"Yeah! Take that Democrats and Republican oligarchy! Yeah! What do you mean we just nuked Mexico?"

True, but it's making a difference among independents/undecideds/NeverTrumpers. Hillary has extended her lead over Trump steadily since the convention, far more than a mere convention bounce could account for.

Now the narrative will shift from "close race' to "Clinton is destroying him." That's powerful peer pressure in the minds of true undecideds - people don't like to back a loser.

Nothing to see here, but look over there! Benghazi!.
A former top CIA official attacked Donald Trump on Friday as a danger to national security, saying President Vladimir Putin had made the Republican presidential candidate an "unwitting agent" of Russia. Putin had flattered Trump into supporting positions favorable to Russia, Michael Morell, a longtime CIA officer and former deputy director of the agency, said in an opinion piece in The New York Times. "In the intelligence business, we would say that Mr. Putin had recruited Mr. Trump as an unwitting agent of the Russian Federation," Morell said, in an article in which he endorsed Trump's rival in the Nov. 8 election, Democrat Hillary Clinton. Morell did not provide evidence for his assertion, but he said Putin had used skills from his past as an intelligence officer to identify and exploit vulnerabilities in an individual. "That is exactly what he did early in the primaries. Mr. Putin played upon Mr. Trump’s vulnerabilities by complimenting him. He responded just as Mr. Putin had calculated," Morell wrote.

Trump's campaign dismissed Morell's criticism, linking the ex-CIA officer to the Obama administration's public response after the September 2012 attacks in Benghazi, Libya. "Count how many reporters will tweet today that Michael Morell lied for #CrookedHillary to cover up Benghazi," Trump's campaign said in a Twitter message.
