STARSHIP R.SCOTT - DAY FOUR

As the cryo pods open, those in stasis wake up and start to talk ...

"Only two more days to earth." mused Lagom Lite as he stared our the viewpoint thoughtfully.

"Yeah, now that we have these corps under control, we can pick our destination. That is as soon as we eliminate this alien." responded Remus West.

"Oh, that shouldn't be hard. I know who the original alien is, what did you can it, the mama alien?" quipped Lagom Lite.

"Wait a sec, you are the ..." growled Mr Bubbles.

"CONVERTS!" shouted Lagom Lite.

Tru1cy, Sean, Minister of KtSP, and Chaosraven grab hold of Remus West and Mr Bubbles.

"Put them in the airlock. And why don't you join them as well, converts." ordered Lagom Lite.

Without a word, tru1cy, Sean, Minister of KtSP, and Chaosraven drag Remus West and Mr Bubbles kicking and screaming into the airlock. Lagom Lite pressed the outer door hatch control and all were shot into outer space.

Lagom Lite then accessed the main terminal and ordered the ship to fry theohall's cryo pod burning him to a crisp.

"Computer, begin recording log." said Lagom Lite.

Code: Select all

Final Message: I've managed to kill the final alien but not before it killed the remaining crew. I should reach earth in another two days. With a little luck the network will pick me up...This is Lagom Lite, ships crew, last survivor of the Starship R.SCOTT signing off.

STARSHIP R. SCOTT - DAY ONE

"This discussion is getting us nowhere!", growled Austin and produced a pocket sized incinerator gun.

"Woah!! Be careful where you point that!!", screamed Remus West.

"No, I've been thinking about pointing this at someone for a long time now", shot back Austin and turned his gun on Theohall.

Theohall said nothing but looked around the room for help.

"You'd like me to kill Theohall, wouldn't you Newcastle?", asked Austin.

"Well, at least you wouldn't be killing me!", said Newcastle.

"Wrong Answer!" remarked Austin and shot Newcastle burning off his face and killing him instantly. All that was left of Newcastle's face was a blood red skull.

"Hold up!" shouted Remus West. "you just killed a human you idiot."

Newcastle was Human.

"Awww FRACK!" growled Austin and picked up Newcastle's body, tossed it into the airlock with his spent incinerator gun and jettisoned his body from the ship.

"At least we don't have to listen to him babble incoherently anymore." said Austin sullenly.

STARSHIP R. SCOTT - DAY ONE

As the group sits around and warily eye each other, Pr0ner is busy fiddling with a mp3 player. Finally punches a button.

(Please click this link and let it play before reading onward - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1hYV-JSj ... re=related)

Pr0ner stands up and faces the group as everyone looks up as the music plays.

"What are you up to pr0ner?" ask Lagom Lite.

Pr0ner produces a his incinerator gun and use it to like a cigar he fishes out of his pocket.

"Awww, Frack. What is it with you guns??" growled tru1cy.

"Well, you pulled it so you go something to say pr0ner?" remarked Grundbegriff.

Pr0ner winked and said, "When you have to shoot, shoot, don't talk."

Pr0ner quickly points the incinerator gun at Isgrimnur and pulls the trigger burning Isgrimnur in half. Two halves of Isgrimnur splash to the gun spraying green gunk and tentacles.

Isgrimnur was Alien.

"Thats how its done Austin. Why don't clean up my little mess. "said Pr0ner.

"Yeah, yeah. " said Austin sullenly as he dragged both halves of Isgrimnur into the airlock and jettisoned them from the ship.

That was one of the most bizarre twist games I've ever played.

Talking the Guards into proving themselves, and the Engineers to step forward. Suddenly there's four Humans... and the Convicts decide to NOT let the Corp win as they(we) would lose.

Lagom you are a smooth tongued devil, and an opportunistic monster. Turning us against ourselves like that.

I'll look forward to another one of these in the future! Bravo, Scoop!!!

Yep, that's pretty much it.

I tried. I really did. Maybe if Austin hadn't missed things would be different?

I want to thank everyone for the positive comments on the game.

Truly, this game could have played out drastically different in several different ways.

Lagom Lite got very lucky early by converting the hacker which seemed throw everyone for a loop. I think the corp really made a mistake when they all outted themselves as they then felt like victims when the convicts ganged up on them and still provided cover for the aliens.

I have been thinking of several small tweaks to the rulez but overall I am extremely happy with this game and I definitely will be moderating this game again. It just worked so well I don't want to mess with it much.

Expect to see R.SCOTT again in about 6 months.

And special congrats to Lagom Lite in his freshmen effort as a baddie. I thought he handled you all well.

Well... that didn't work...

Had I not been an idiot and self-locked myself... when tru1cy started pulling the "I will only unlock Corps" thing, I would've pushed for the prove you are still an Engineer or you are getting airlocked game. As it stood, it was the perfect way for him to hide and absolutely no one seriously challenged him on it. Should've locked one of the unknowns instead.

Everyone bought the AO won't convert Engineer thing so everyone consdired them protected.

Ask Scoop about the PMs irt this issue.

Oh well.

I was extremely lucky with my conversions. I got the Hacker on the first night, and I took a chance on converting Chaosraven the second night since he could have been the Hacker (CR tried to convince me a bit too hard that he was the symbiont...). Then the engineers refused to unlock, and theohall (poor bastard!) couldn't come out of stasis, so it was an easy decision to infect the engineers while crusading against the "possible Day 1 aliens".

I had a lot of fun, but of course whatever conscience I have was killing me! :D

If anyone needs me I'll be in the seventh circle of hell shuffling body parts...

Hey, I work with theatre irl. The craft teaches you acting, the business teaches you opportunism! ;)

And let me chime in on the praise for this ruleset. Things could have been very different if I had been shot on day 1 instead of Isgrimnur.

Trust me, I was tempted to do it.

Something seemed fishier about Isgrimnur, though, that no one else had seemed to pick up on. I figured since there were already votes on you, you would have eventually been voted off on Day 1.

That would have been a might short game then.

I was surprised everyone joined in on my vote for you! The rule-set was really on my side there, the play was correct from a convict's perspective. I totally panicked because I knew you were on to me! :)

Once I was converted, I kinda froze up. I didn't ever figure out how to proceed. I didn't want to parrot Lagom and get us both killed. I didn't want to attack him and wind up with a "success" that would cripple the Aliens. And I was kinda bummed about not getting to hack... :(
It's almost as if people are the problem.

Lagon, had we waited until day 2 to take the shot would you have converted a guard?

Let's see... Once the Crew was outed, I was trying to put myself in the position where I could pretend to be either the symbiont or a convict. I was trying to "hide" my converts and argue against the rest.

So it would have been imprudent to convert a guard since they could prove themselves. On the other hand, guards are dangerous once they start suspecting you, and targetting someone else than the guards risks bouncing off the symbiont.

To answer your question: I really don't know. Maybe if I felt cornered by them (pr0ner). :)

The problem is no one really challenged either Engineer to prove himself with the threat of airlocking them. It seemed like the only "agreed" plan seemed to be to convince them to do the double unlock which I thought was seriously flawed when it was first proposed. There is still no pressure on either Engineer and either could pull the same "I'm not unlocking until we have a win condition" thing again. IMO, the only way to have forced the Engineers hands would be to threaten to airlock them. Lagom did a good job taking advantage of what I thought was a Human faction weakness irt the Engineers status by actually converting an Engineer. (in spite of many arguments to the contrary including my earlier ones).

(from the peanut gallery) :pop: I found tru1cy's statement that he absolutely wouldn't unfreeze Theohall, and that Sean could if he wanted to, as a veiled announcement that he really had no way to unfreeze Theohall.

Everyone is also very lucky stessier didn't play. He was PMing me during the game and pretty much nailed everyone's role except theohall as the symbiont.

Nice debut, Lagom Lite. You have a steady hand, and I reckon it'll be difficult to read you in future games no matter what your role.

The thing I like most about this ruleset is that we were more or less locked into a path that ran contrary to our best interests, but that this didn't have to happen. It occurred this time because of the fluke of losing the Seer/Hacker combined with the questionable mass-outing. A game where one or the other of those events unfolded differently wouldn't necessarily have the same internal logic.

Well it wasn't exactly difficult to pick out the Corps, and the corps had LL on Day one too. :P

Yeah, my early outing was initially based on the idea that A) I am not going to be night killed, B) if locked down, I would be awakened by team mates, and C) I would shoot before being lynched and I figured that the AO would not convert me if he knew I still had to shoot.

I did not think through all the scenarios including mass outings and all that. I am happy the convicts did not win though. We had no choice but to hold our ground and hope a convict cracked and voted with Corp... or something. I guess though, in retrospect, unlocking theohall would have been a good move.

If theo was able, and locked Sean last night there would have been no conversion and he would have had an easy pick for locking down the next night. No engineers were left to unlock and he had a victory locked up.
