Exactly. Looking at the demographics, I'd be reviewing the rules for a quorum right about now.
I wonder when Mitch will read poetry.
I didn't know about the data flow but it makes sense to me. Like you said that only makes this all the worse.Smoove_B wrote: Thu Mar 12, 2020 11:42 amWhich is why none of this makes sense - unless someone is specifically saying don't share that info (spoiler: they are). The channels are already in place. The reporting mechanism already exists - neither are being created exclusively for this outbreak. The fact that the CDC isn't using this existing infrastructure to share with states what's happening locally, regionally and nationally is a real problem. Incompetence is one thing, but this is beyond incompetence. This is (to me) clearly malfeasance.
Hopefully we won't be faced with a new crisis ripe for dramatic distraction...Octavious wrote: Thu Mar 12, 2020 12:45 pm Looks like we could be Pre Trump stock levels by the end of the week. This is well terrifying.. I'm super sure he won't do something crazy to save his own ass.. Nope....
I was just listening to CNN and they said while this is the public comment, in private Senators are hopefully Pelosi and the Treasury Secretary can hammer out a deal that the President will accept. They haven't flown home yet and are thinking there is still time.

I often have several news channels up (strong Ozymandias theme here fwiw) and the Fox Business host cut away and complained about injecting politics into this...then he noted that the market trended back down as Biden talked. "Maybe it is a coincedence..." then went to mention it 4 or 5 times in the next minute.Defiant wrote: Thu Mar 12, 2020 1:45 pm Biden is giving a good speech on what needs to be done with regards to the Pandemic.
Can we move up the election to like tomorrow, and let him take over the next day? Please?
And as the numbers show, it’s the US that everyone should be banning.Anonymous Bosch wrote: Thu Mar 12, 2020 1:30 pm$iljanus wrote: Thu Mar 12, 2020 8:15 am Interesting how Britain was spared from the travel ban. They've done more testing than most and the UK is an island, which greatly simplifies quarantine and isolation from the rest of continental Europe (e.g. it's partly why they were able to eradicate rabies in the UK at the turn of the 20th century).
I guess I’ll cherish the Yankees vs Nationals spring training game I’m watching since it may be the last game for a long while...
This is taking the sting out of my planned boycott of the Red Sox 2020 season in response to the Mookie Betts trade.$iljanus wrote: Thu Mar 12, 2020 2:10 pmI guess I’ll cherish the Yankees vs Nationals spring training game I’m watching since it may be the last game for a long while...
Has MLB been confirmed? I’ve only read that they’re talking about options.

Bah that sucks but quite understandable under the circumstances.Dogstar wrote: Thu Mar 12, 2020 2:26 pm This as close to confirmation as there is.

I don't get the benefit of canceling the whole season, rather than delaying the start and then playing without fans?$iljanus wrote: Thu Mar 12, 2020 2:28 pmBah that sucks but quite understandable under the circumstances.Dogstar wrote: Thu Mar 12, 2020 2:26 pm This as close to confirmation as there is.

One benefit might be to get people to take this more seriously?El Guapo wrote: Thu Mar 12, 2020 2:35 pm

I bet there's sneaky lawyerly language in contracts that differentiates what happens with money in the event of delay vs cancellation. USA! USA! USA!El Guapo wrote: Thu Mar 12, 2020 2:35 pmI don't get the benefit of canceling the whole season, rather than delaying the start and then playing without fans?
I feel like empty stadiums combined with literally everything else that's happening will cover that?
They should do it all via teleconferencing. And put RBG, Breyer, Sotomeyer and Kagan in a bunker with food, toilet paper and the strongest air filtration system that exists and a dozen doctors.malchior wrote: Thu Mar 12, 2020 2:49 pm Supreme Court closed to the public. Oh thanks - I was just going by the summaries in-thread (and i guess treating 'suspended' as 'canceled'). Seems like this stuff is also still developing.Blackhawk wrote: Thu Mar 12, 2020 2:52 pmUnless I'm reading it wrong, that's what they did.El Guapo wrote: Thu Mar 12, 2020 2:35 pmI don't get the benefit of canceling the whole season, rather than delaying the start and then playing without fans?$iljanus wrote: Thu Mar 12, 2020 2:28 pmBah that sucks but quite understandable under the circumstances.Dogstar wrote: Thu Mar 12, 2020 2:26 pm This as close to confirmation as there is.

On the one hand, I still see people claiming this is overblown and will just be a minor cold for 99% of us. I think whatever happens, there's a sizable community that are going to be dumb and not take this seriously (of course, I'm also seeing others sharing false paranoid information with no basis in science, so there's going to be dumb stuff on both sides)El Guapo wrote: Thu Mar 12, 2020 2:47 pm

The problem is that if this works and we minimize the impact of the virus by spreading out the infections and not overwhelming the healthcare system, it will just confirm to a lot of these people that the whole thing was overblown to begin with.Defiant wrote: Thu Mar 12, 2020 2:56 pmOn the one hand, I still see people claiming this is overblown and will just be a minor cold for 99% of us.
