It's actually a reimagining of the original Fist of Fury from 1972 starring Bruce Lee.

There are SOME historical elements to it. Huo Yuen Jia is a real famous kungfu sifu. And supposedly he did have a disciple named Chen Zheng, but the stuff in the movie, like how the Japanese sent an insulting plaque to Huo's funeral, or how Chen Zheng went to challenge the whole dojo (Chinese expression: 踢館 to kick the dojo) and to "return" the plaque was completely fictional, but was iconic it was written into EVERY remake since.

There's ANOTHER "sequel" in 2010 starring Donnie Yen. He actually played the character previously in a 1995 TV series.

Well dangit...Bruce Lee, Jet Li, and Donnie Yen.....now I got 3 movies to watch. I really like Donnie Yen. Good thing Jackie Chan didn't make one or Id have 4 movies to watch.

Empire was such a beautiful movie in so many ways. Back then I didn't appreciate Carrie Fisher. Now looking back I see she was a doll. Makes me happy yet sad to see her so young and vibrant back then.

When I arrived in Korea I fell in love with the traditional Korean wind instrument that plays the solo (taepyeongso). I've tried to find a diagram showing the dimensions (or the dimensions of a piri) so I could attempt to make one in a method similar to PVC flutes but I haven't had any luck. Even the music teachers don't have access to them (we teach the American curriculum so our music looks like the Western side of the video) and my interest isn't enough to warrant buying a real one to measure.
