Does stopping crime and saving people from the illegal gun and drug trades not help economically. Are you not interested in saving these people from being killed by our evil guns or for the evil money we send across to feed our drug habits? Do you hate the Mexicans?
You seem to believe that building a wall will stop crime and the drug and arms trades. I guess people who believe that will believe anything Trump is selling.

Some people, the crazy people maybe, are of the opinion that building a wall will not stop all crime and drugs. As such, it is just a $50B+ boondoggle. Not that it's ever going to happen. Even if he gets elected Trump won't build it. Well, the $50B boondoggle might happen but the wall won't.
Who said all?

I'd bet it stops way more than a couple silly gun control laws that you guys are more than happy to throw money at.

Are you referring to The Wall? Have you seen the problems with building a complete wall across the entire border? It's not going to be built. It will cost too much, a shit load of land would need to be confiscated, er I mean eminent domained, and a lot of the border doesn't have the infrastructure to support that kind of construction project. This is a political gambit to win the election.
Meh, I'm pretty sure the nation that built the Panama Canal can handle it.

Couldn't possibly cost any more and do any less than healthcare reform has done. The price-tag on that one is already passing up $1T.
Why not compare it to landing on the moon or the hoover dam while you're at it. The canal is less than 50 miles long. The wall would be closer to 2000 miles.

If anyone knows healthcare isn't free, it's you Rip. Why would you suggest it should be cheap?
Sure it is but building 1 mile of Canal was harder than building 100 miles of fence. Especially given the technology improvements since the canal was built.

Most workers building the Panama Canal were from Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, or Central America.
U.S. citizens were used sparingly in Panama because they were both disease-prone and demanded higher wages.

Unless we've invented magic, I'm not sure what improvements you're talking about. Magic like a complete disregard for cost effectiveness and reality based expectations, combined with a child-like belief in 11 million boogeymen.

It's funny to hear the left arguing against spending money. I wish they argued a bit stronger against military spending, seeing as how the Department of Defense can't account for $6.5 trillion from just last year alone.

The best part of this is that Rip avoids paying taxes and proudly talks about doing so, yet he's demanding that the rest of us pay to make him feel safe from people who've never done a damn thing to him.

You do realize that the left is almost always blamed by the right for wanting to reduce military spending, right?

Of course I do, but y'all's game must be weak in that area. Leave the guns to civilians, take some from the military. They probably just lost them or left them in Iraq anyway apparently since they can't account for $6.5 trillion. Let me try that with the IRS.

If you want to believe that ok, but if so it is our boondoggle to make. The left got the healthcare boondoggle, which will turn into god knows how much when it inevitably turns into single payer. They should be happy that the right chose one as cheap as the wall would be.

The reality is that people don't oppose it because it wouldn't work and would waste money. They oppose it because it would work.

Otherwise the smart thing to do would be to say it wouldn't work but you are going to do it just so the right can show what dumb-asses they are. But they are hell bent on not doing that because of how afraid they are that it would work. Which destroy the illusion they have built up in their own heads that they know everything.

Wow, I usually don't make fun of Rip but this post is so out of touch with reality that I wonder if Rip actually lives in an alternate dimension, but somehow manages to communicate with us as if he's in our dimension? It's one possible explanation.

If only. I've been pushing for it with my vote for nearly a decade.

http://data.worldbank.org/indicator/SH. ... _desc=true

Statistically speaking, if we clean house, and create a single payer system and don't allow the system's legislation to be paid for by lobbyists, statistically speaking, the cost goes down as we have 300,000,000+ people collectively bargaining for our needs, instead of dealing with pools of 100s or 1000s or even 10s of thousands. While I root for it and I try to vote for it as a primary subjects in my candidates, I don't see it overcoming the strength of corporate medical interests in DC. We look no further than the latest, Mylan, as indicator of how the single payer system is not in foreseeable future.

Again, I don't know why I bother. I suppose, at least, it helps me to keep my facts and phenomena straight.

As a single payer state I can say that it is not a magic bullet. I've also said in the past that I'd prefer to have our problems with healthcare rather than your problems with healthcare.

Britain is going through some pretty rough times as a single payer state right now.

I've never eaten at Taco truck but I'm down to give it a try. If there's one at the corner next to my house and it's open until 17:30, so I get it quick on the way home from work, then I'm completely sold.

What guys?

The Wall is an absurd idea. It was novel when Hadrian tried, you know, like 2000 years ago. We have the internet, space travel, and self driving cars now. But our solution to cross border immigration and smuggling is to build a fucking wall. I just hope we can make enough gladii and scuta for the DHS officers walking the parapets. Javelin training is going to take foreeeever..
