Hey everyone, Roy Moore did nothing wrong because there's a group of non-accusers out there!
A trick learned from the women of SNL stating that Al Franken didn't grope them.
What, leaving the Clinton angle for rip? Or perhaps not wanting to go with Phylicia Rashad's defense of Cosby? It's not a new phenomenon, and it's not a political phenomenon, either.
Not sure why you're saying this to me instead of pr0ner and the people who posted outrage about using the tactic.

I personally was being sarcastic and was in no way condoning what Moore's spokesperson said.

Conyers is resigning now.
He calls it "retirement" and he was kind of rambling about it, but it seems clear that he'll be gone as of today.

I think the liberal reaction to Clinton's sexual conduct in the 90s set us back a long way. It's an actual case of "But Clinton did it" that while not defensible, is absolutely true and damning of liberal hypocrisy. Rip would actually score a real point there.

It seems to me that a little over a year ago we were trying to elect someone to president who was complicit in the cover up of those abuses of power and told everyone else to mind their own damned business and who still remain unapologetic 20 plus years later. I'm not sure how you convince me otherwise as its a been sitting with me for 20 years. The actions and their longstanding defense are something I've been disgusted with for a long time.

Sexual harassment, while disgusting and contemptible, are not on par with rape or child molestation. Comparing the situations as equal draws a very false parallel.
This is not a Democrat/Republican thing to me. Clinton - to my knowledge - was a serial harasser but not a rapist. Franken, given the out cold nature of a least one of his accusers, pushes that more towards rape. Cosby was flat out rape. Repeatedly. Moore is an accused child predator. Maybe it is the teacher and father in me but those last two are worlds worse than the first two.

Because rapists only rape once to get it out of their system, then stop.
I don't find Broderick to be very convincing. There's also the small matter of her signing a sworn affidavit that Clinton did NOT harass or assault her.
There are, in rare circumstances, where the accuser is lying. There have been a number of these cases in the UK over the past year, which surprised me when I read them.
Is Juanita lying? I have no idea. Is she telling the truth? I have no idea. I do know that as far as these accusations go, I found her's to be weak and unconvincing.

Interestingly and ironically enough, the whole "George Soros is taking over the WORLD!!!!" meme is something I was first exposed to in Malaysia, by several Muslim friends (who FWIW are highly educated, and went to college in the US). More than a couple of times we were chatting about random shit, politics came up, and George Soros was presented front and center as the source of all evil in the world. Kinda shocked me. At the time, I had never even heard of him.

"George Soros" is invoked when someone really wants to say "international Jewry", but knows that would go over poorly.
As for how Jews became so scary...it's a good question, but somehow we're a go-to scapegoat the world over.
Also FWIW I enjoyed "jews gonna jew". Obviously that's dependent on context, but obviously tjg is commenting on Moore's thinly veiled anti-Semitism.

At least there is known historical animosity between Israel and the rest of the middle east, which can sort of be used to justify hating successful jewish people, if you're willing to drink the cool-aid.
I struggle to understand that Alabama hates Jews enough that Soros is a scary figure.

I'm not sure if I knew you were Jewish before today. Anyway, thanks for letting me know.
Another name for the list.
As far as Jews gonna Jew, it sounds sort of empowering, like Playahs gonna play, or something gonna something (sorry, imagination failed me there). In any case, it sounds like something a person proud to be Jewish would own, and take all the power away from it being an insult. Shrug. I just liked it because it sounds positive to me.

tl;dr: White identity was founded on European Christendom, and hating Jews figured largely in it because Jews were (1) alien, (2) right there living in Europe. This made them usefully Other.
Muslims were equally Other, but they were far away and therefore exotic and of little local use as foils and scapegoats.
It's telling that Islamophobia has raced to catch up with and outpace antisemitism in the West precisely as Muslims have become more locally visible (and therefore usefully Other).

It doesn't help that thousands of self proclaimed Muslims take it upon themselves to murder people around the world in the name of Islam. They certainly have made it easy to hate all Muslims, which, of course, is the entire point. Once Muslims start feeling the hate from the rest of the world, it becomes easier to hate the rest of the world back, at which point, recruiter man asks you how you feel about virgins.

A whole state (well, enough that an election could be decided) though? In 2017?
uh, did you miss 2016? Yes, an entire state. I mean, they voted for Trump by something like a 30 percentage point margin, and Donald isn't exactly subtle about the racism either.
I mean, it wasn't long ago that David Duke came within a hair's breath of getting elected governor of Louisiana on a pretty explicit racial appeal.

All the hatred for Soros is really interesting because it follows the exact pattern of late 19th-early 20th century hatred of "international Jews."
By then, educated and assimilated Jews had demonstrated their success in European urban culture and internationally-linked industries: trade and finance, sure, but also academia and medicine and other high-barrier professions. Jews "dominated" those industries no more than they do today, but it was easy to say they did, and you only needed a couple of stand-out examples (e.g. the Rothchilds) to make the narrative stick.
Because Jews were thought to be loyal to Judaism rather than to England or France or etc, it was easy to invent myths of Jewish conspiracy, blaming them for recessions and economic bubbles just like their ancestors had been blamed for plagues or crop blights. In other words, Jews became the scapegoats for the risks associated with the 19th-century wave of economic globalization.
It seems to me that George Soros is being made to play the very same role now, filtered through partisan coloration because he's unabashedly liberal.

Harris: The first three names I've got to remember are (Harris reads three names from Eagle Grove's roster) for Eagle Grove. They have a lot of ... apparently ...

Woman: Gee, I wonder why that is.
Harris: I wonder why.
Woman: But the latest there is that they are just gradually going to come into town ... yeah, right.
Harris: Yeah, uh huh.
Woman: Uh huh.
Harris: Gradually work their way in.
Woman: Gradually work their way in. So who are these people again?
Harris: Yeah, who are they? Oh, you want to know their names?
Woman: Yeah.
Harris: (Harris reads the names again.)
Woman: They sound like they've been here a while, given their first names.
Harris: Yeah, I think they've been there. (Harris spells one boy's name.)
Woman: (She agrees with the pronunciation.)
Harris: (More discussion of the boy's name.)
Woman: Yeah.
Harris: Then there's (another name), sounds like he's not a foreigner. Could be, though.
Woman: Yeah.
Harris: All foreigners.
Woman: Exactly, all foreigners. (Laughs.)
Harris: As Trump would say, go back where they came from.
Woman: Well, some would say that, yeah. Some days I feel like that, too.
Harris: Yeah.
