He's got a whole series where he takes crazy or strange things (i.e. public freakouts, hog call contests, auctioneer events, etc.) and essential writes some really well-done metal songs around them. His most famous is this one, with some crazy-ass preacher yelling about COVID.

But my favorite is this one

The way he seamlessly blends their voice inflections and patterns into the music is kind of amazing to me.

I had seen the crazy preacher video before and I agree that Why Are You Closed is the best of the three. Dude sure has no shortage of raw material to work with.

Man there are some good ones in there but a lot that I simply don't remember (and I watched a lot of MTV back then).

There are also quite a few in there that I do remember, but are not good.

I do remember the first two that played but after that it was a blur plus I wasn't in control of the tv so missed some of the later stuff. I do recognize a lot though. But ya some dont register at all with my brain.

The Charismatic Voice is an opera singer who listens and reacts to singers in lots of different metal genres. Really interesting to hear her breakdowns of the technical aspects of singing, as well as the general song and video. Her recent one for Type O Negative's "Love You to Death" - one of my favorite songs - was great, although much lighter on the technical side. Pete Steele can still seduce women from beyond the grave, apparently. Plus, she's absolutely adorable...I could watch her for days.

This breakdown of a live version of Opeth's "Ghost of Perdition" was was fantastic as well.

That's Kenneth Copeland, who's a big gun in televangelism circles. He scares the hell out of me. Can you believe he's 84? If deals with the devil are real....

I have come to legitimately love that song. It's on Spotify with re-recorded vocals and I imagine is available elsewhere as well. Copeland's "vocals" remind me of Lee Ving's on Dave Mustaine's original MD.45 recording or something: The Creed.

But my favorite is this one

That's my city! This is why I don't go downtown anymore.... I was already familiar with the raw video and it's hilarious. I feel like I've encountered guys just like that.

I have trouble watching ones for random meltdowns though as these are either people who are mentally ill/emotionally unwell or just spoiled, selfish, and disgusting.

These ones are also good:

Hell, it's halfway to a metal concert even without the music. Check out that horn.

Worth an hour and a half if you can spare it. I can only provide the link thanks to YT. Its the captains of Star Trek. William Shatner travels around and meets and interviews them all. A wonderful watch.

I liked the Type O one quite a bit. I have a lot of fond memories of them. They were local to me. I saw them early - not too long after the Carnivore days. I saw them many, many times. Enough to see a lot of toilet paper wasted. :)

They'd often go on Seton Hall radio (WSOU) which back then was all metal which was always fun for a Catholic University. One thing that I think is always missing when people talk about him was HOW FUNNY he was. In an ironic, self-deprecating way. When they went on WSOU once for the release of World Coming Down he quipped, "more like sales coming down!". And the band always seemed to have fun just shit talking each other on the radio.

Anyway, a great talent, and a great showman. His life was a lot tragic and too short. I wish they would have released a few more albums because it was always such a unique, lush sound.

Also, the whole deep vocals thing was a real thing. I had (maybe still have - dunno) a crazy wide vocal range. One of my music teachers tried for a couple of years to prod me to learn to sing but it wasn't my thing. I never got any formal training but I used to be able to sing all the Type O songs. It was crazy how much attention you'd get just by being able to sing that way.

We were at a hotel last weekend with all my kids. I started watching that after everyone went to bed, and was laughing so hard I actually woke them all up.

Ever heard a harp hooked up to an electric guitar's distortion pedal? I hadn't until now.

That's the most metal thing I ever heard! :music-rockout:

Browsing her channel, she does a lot of cool game music covers with various effect pedals, but I was hoping to find a cover of a metal song like Metallica's Anesthesia. This is the closest I found.

In the very late 70s or very early 80s my neighbors had an old tv set with a clicker remote. It was then I discovered why remotes were called clickers. It wasn't their main set but an antique that I loved to come over and watch. It was like a 25" black and white and the remote had 4 buttons. Up/Down for VOL and Channel . Each has a ultrasonic click the tv could hear and and knew what you wanted and a normal click you heard. Was really neat old tech to me. Think it was a Zenith.

11-year-old drummer Nandi Bushell got to jam on stage with Foo Fighters
Here's a feel-good story for you. Dave Grohl's "arch nemesis," 11-year-old Nandi Bushell, finally got her chance to jam live with the Foo Fighters. Grohl and the musical prodigy have been going back and forth online in drum battles but it's been her dream to play on stage with the band. At their sold-out show Thursday night at The Forum in Los Angeles, Grohl announced her surprise appearance and the crowd went wild. And she started the set like every pro drummer does—by spinning a drumstick in the air. She and the band then brought the house down with "Everlong." Seriously, if this doesn't make you tear up a little with joy, you'd better go get yourself checked!
