While bringing my 2 1/2 year old to preschool, he was snacking on a small cup of Golden Grahams.

Upon arrival, he still had half the cup left and started to get upset that he wasn't going to get to finish them all.

As I got him out of his seat, I explained to him that if we left them in the car - that he could eat them on the way home, "before dinner!"

And then for some stooopid mischievous-male reason I added, "Don't tell mommy." and flashed a smile.

We get out of the car and the whole walk up - he keeps saying "Don't tell mommy"... "Don't tell mommy"...

"Ohhh kay Jack... that's enough... Do you think you will be going Outside today??" (I try and distract him...)

"Yeah, it's not TOO cold, it's just PART cold.....Don't Tell Mommy"

I ignore it, just to try and let it die.

Cut-to-later-that-night.

I go and pick up my son, and he is a sharp one... We get in the car, and he says "I want my Golden Grahams"

I say, OK. <cringe> Here....

Give him the snack cup, silence - just munching.... I get in the front seat and pull away to start driving home...

Chomp... chomp.... chomp.... (silence)

Chomp... chomp... chomp.... (silence)

"Dooooon't Telllllll Mommmmmy" he says.

:|

Of course, we get home - and I sound like I'm lying when I explain it's really just the Golden Graham snacks that he's talking about. Seriously.

I've had sebaceous cysts before, but lipomas are a new hobby that my body's taken up. Doc says he can remove them if they become "disfiguring", which was not a confidence builder.

I keep having dreams about gambling. I always end up at the craps table. I always wake up in the middle. When I wake up I feel like I'd been getting ripped off and I start going over the rolls in my head to make sure they had been paying me enough money in my dreams.

I don't know why.

Interesting - but not what I have. Mine are hard as rocks, but they're not growing or changing shape. I should probably get to the Dr. one of these days...

Are they free-moving (not that you can move them to another part of your body...just not rigid)?
Are they painful to the touch (a lipoma can cause pain if pressed on, but generally are not tender)?

Those were the two things my Dr. checked before diagnosing me with lipomas.

I tend to get them around my abdomen - usually from the pectorals to the waist. I even had one over my backbone, and I have a couple in my neck. The ones that form over a rib or other bone can be uncomfortable or painful while sleeping or sitting in a hard-backed chair. That's why I had mine removed. 1 surgery under general took out 7 (they were front, back, and one side - local anesthesia wasn't possible) and another under local to remove 5 from my back and left side.

I also had removed from my left forearm while in High School. I think it was a result of impacts to that area while playing football. That's the only one I've ever had in one of my extremities.

I've wondered if they're related to the skin tags I have on my neck and underarms.

If you can pinch them and pick them up a little, then they're in the skin and not worrisome. That's true of both lipomas and sebaceous cysts, although they don't feel quite the same. If the lump is anchored to your underlying muscle, get thee to a doctor at once.

Ugh, both.

Home finance is nothing by comparison. No cabinet members over my head saying they've voted themselves 30% raises, and by the way, next year we're going to have to let some of the underlings go. Weird how being completely responsible for all the decisions is actually less stressful.

Budgets comfort me. Flying blind makes me anxious. Even when it's not balancing, I need to know how much income is covering how much outgo.

I like knowing the numbers at home. I don't like being the keeper of them at work without actually being in charge of anything (except telling people we can no longer afford pens?).

Ah yes, responsibility without authority. Always a formula for failure.

Do you ever wish that people would follow the same rules walking that they do driving? Keep to the right you crazy walker.. don't you see a flow going against you?

And also think about those crazy walkers who are texting.. On a daily basis on campus I have students who are practically walking into me because they are too busy texting.

I had a dream last night about a woman I've been lightly flirting with lately. Right as I was waking up she said "I'll meet you by the mailbag". WTF is that supposed to mean? It's been rolling around my head all morning because I can't remember the context in which it was spoken. Stupid brain!

Let's extend this to shopping carts also. As I was walking out of Sam's with my wife today I had to stop on three occasions to avoid plowing into people as they pulled out their carts right in front of my path.

As I thought about it, I was only doing it to be nice, not because I had to. So as of now I will no longer stop pushing my cart when someone steps out in front of me!

I am having trouble finding Wonder Woman themed party supplies for my soon to be 6 year old. And I don;t think a signed photo of Linda Carter is going to satisfy. I need cake topper, baloons, tablecloth, plates, thats sort of thing. but Wonder Woman is just not in fashion at the moment, at least not among the under 10 year old demographic.

Even though I know "it's what I do for a living" I am beginning to get downright pissed at people who use a software tool every day 18 months or years and then have a technical issue with that software that I never touch and know nothing about and they expect that I am going to know what is wrong and how to fix it right away.

Now I get that you are befuddled and need help. I get that I am your first line of support. But come on now, do you really think that generic help desk for everything works the same way physics are the same on all cars? Really? That techs everywhere know everything about every program ever designed, how they all interact, and can fix all problems in a few seconds? You've been watching too much TV. I can't open sockets to fix problems or get in to source code and rebuild an the entire program to make it work the way you suspect it's supposed. And I sure as hell can't diagnose your problem from the vague "I can't...." and rewrite code I don't have a program I haven't seen in thirty seconds. Do you really think your computer works that way? Can I take your toy away from you and give you a calculator now?

I have a coworker who really lives his job.

Our Quality/TS/QS/Blackbelt certifier/etc... Just sent out a workplace gambling satisfaction questionnaire and feedback form as he is the guy who makes sure Sweet 16/power ball/meg millions/SB squares/Kentucky derby/baby pools/etc.. Happen. My God, the man will and does bet on everything.

Should one be frightened that the guy in charge of quality procedure is compulsive gambler?

Well, he certainly sounds dedicated, if he's polling his coworkers as to whether or not he's doing a good job managing your betting pools. If he brings that kind of attitude to his real job, I think you're ok.

What would you expect when attempting to call to set up an appointment to a doctor to see about treatment for depression and social anxiety?

Caring people with empathy and the willingness and ability to help someone reaching out for assistance?

Wrong. I get answering machines and one lady that follows up the report that the doc isn't taking new patients with a chipper "so ... thanks for calling!"

Boy, am I glad I got out of bed today...

Putting it off for another time?

I mean I keep thinking about going to one of those group things through meetup.com but then it seems like too much of a bother compared to just staying nice and comfy at home.

I've never found her remotely attractive. She is all angles and hard edges. Not my type at all.
