I think zombies have finally died, but I'll watch anything with Sutherland.

One 4-day battle that rallied China against the Japanese invaders in 1937, while neutral powers stood by and watched as Shanghai burned.

Trivia: there were only 4-500 soldiers. They called themselves the Eight Hundred mostly for morale reasons.

Make sure you buy the right ticket. There are at least three 2020 thrillers called ALONE.

Zombies aren't dead as a genre, we're just trying not to give 2020 any ideas so they're on hold right now.

I think the Romero zombie should be dead as a genre. We've pretty much mined that deposit to depletion. At the very least, let it sit idle for about 5 or 10 years THEN revisit it. In the meantime, if someone gives us a zombie film that tries to do more than create land sharks, I'm all for it. I won't discount originality, but right now I'm not seeing it anywhere when it comes to zombies.

Maybe some sentient zombies. Rotting, falling to pieces, driven by hunger... but still conscious and capable of speech.

Incidentally, that Sutherland zombie apartment-building movie ALONE appears to be a remake of The Korean zombie apartment-building movie ALIVE, which you can stream on Netflix right now.

I’ve been skipping through it. It’s low-budget standard zombie fare, but entertaining enough. In this one the Sutherland character doesn’t appear until the final third.

EDIT: apparently the Korean film is called #ALIVE

Do yourself a favor and skip this one then go watch Kingdom on Netflix.

I saw the sequel to Train to Busan is out now in theaters. I'm tempted to brave a theater to see it.

OK That is actually a fricking terrific premise!

The wife thought it looked pretty good as well. And we both enjoyed Happy Death Day.

Based on the trailer alone I wouldn't give that a second look, but if it does to Freaky Friday what Happy Death Day did to Groundhog Day, I'm in.

Nomadland. Just won the top prize at the Venice Film Festival. Also, the director's next film is Marvel's Eternals (!).
