It's just a Freudian slip. It always seems that the people who speak out loudest against non-straight love lives are those who have deep hatred of themselves for also being part of that crowd. I've taken to assuming that the harder a man screams about hating gays, the harder he wants to be taken by another man in private.

*Edit: I had no idea Carl Sagan was able to worry about how America would slide into decline.

His idea wasn't really new for 1995, in my mind. Asimov said something similar with his Foundation series, where humanity becomes so complacent with technology that they forget how to even continue exploring and developing it, creating a massive rift in knowledge that leads to a collapse that kills trillions.

Im seeing a huge decline in the quality of work and products. Not just "they don't make 'em like they used to." Like serious defects in products and a total lack of work ethic. It's only a matter of time until it translates to a massive disaster or war.

I never really thought about it, but Trump not having a dog is really in character. There's no empathy or kindness in him.
