I make my furniture out of 2x4's. My wife has a lovely night stand, entirely 2x4's. My basement shelves, 2x4's. The kid's toy box? 2x4's. Oddly, my wife doesn't want me to make chairs, but perhaps a table for her workroom some day.
Everything might weigh a ton, but you could hide under it in an apocalypse and be relatively safe.
And you paint them or cover them afterwards? Or something? Hopefully?

My wife wants to paint everything, but I've always found natural colors and wood grains much more appealing. She doesn't paint the 2x4 stuff, and I insist that every stain and mark only adds character to it.

I hates splinters or the feeling that there's a one in ten million chance that I might get one. I'd need some sort of light varnish.

I'd do maybe a darker cherry varnish or something, make it more eye-appealing. Just a rustic piece of 2x4 furniture? Too much Bonanza garage sale look to it.

Ugh. Very sad. Had a pro bono client once who had a tree fall on his teenager during a forest hike. Random tragedy hurts badly.
I like the solid wood furniture but would suggest a honey wood stain to finish. Tempted to do something similar for a board game shelf rather than keeping it all in a game closet.

First post was the full thing, first edit was clarification, second edit was to simplify it. I fully stand by my comment of "F this week!" and I assure you Arcanis would agree.

I will share. I wrote it up, I might as well put it to some use. Sorry in advance to be a total thread buzzkill.
In our judo club when you join you become part of a family and Arcanis and I lost 2 judo brothers recently.
Story. In the article they said they went swimming which is untrue, both were found with their shoes still on. What we think happened is when they were getting water one fell in and started getting pulled under from the strong undertow from recent rains and the other jumped in to save him.
They were near the end of their 200 mile hike up the Appalachian trail. They were not under prepared either, the boy was going to get his eagle scout in the winter and the 2 of them planned this months in advance. This is just a freak accident. They were having a good time, this is easily seen from the pictures they sent from the trail. They were great people and will be greatly missed.
(click to embiggen)
I think this is the day they headed out
And one along the way
This is Dwight throwing his son after a belt test in their front yard.

Wife had another "accident" last night. That's three times this week (in the middle of the night) that I've got to shampoo the rung, change out the bed, clean her toilet and give her a shower.
I keep telling her 4 Ex lax was too many.
Oh well, it could be worse, I could have to................................no, that's not worse after all.
At least her son isn't around to help.

Being the care taker is one of the hardest jobs. Typically the women have endured this position but lately I know more and more men that are responsible for both roles in a partnership. It's tough and people don't get it until they are going through it.
If she is uncomfortable with adult briefs, you could consider a waterproof sheet. This should make clean up much easier and lessen the chance of you replacing the mattress.
Chances are you are already well aware of these things, I know you have aids visiting. Guess sometimes people just need to vent and are looking for a
with a listening ear.

The
UK Guardian picked up the story.
Carson Dean Cheney was holding onto the headstone Thursday when some metal connecting it to the pedestal broke, said Park City police captain Phil Kirk. Some of the children being photographed were not being responsive, so Carson tried to help the photographer his father by pretending to be a leprechaun and making them laugh, said Curtis Morley, a family friend. Morley said the boy went behind a tombstone and was playfully poking his head out from behind it when it fell on him.
...
Zac Cheney does photography in his spare time and was shooting portraits at the cemetery because of its extensive landscaping.
They have a picture of Carson at the link.

My husband always makes me laugh. When I can make
him laugh, it makes my month!
We went out to eat, talk, drink and shop last night. My stomach is used to how I cook and wasn't ready for P.F.Chang's food. When we left the Chang-ers it sounded like a thunder storm in my belly. A heat wave came over my body and I knew I was limited on time. We still managed to stop by the Apple store, I figured there was about 30 minutes till blast off.
We started our day with separate cars, meeting somewhere to get into one car to drive to the mall together. As he was dropping me off at my car, so I could dart home (husband did offer to just drive us home and get the car later, I refused). As soon as I got in my car, I was down to about 8 minutes.
Home. I left the garage car door open to get some humidity out (2 minutes, tick tock) and as I was climbing the steps to get into the house (already found the key to open the house door) I figured I would write on the door's chalkboard. Problem was my digestion clock was counting down much faster than my mental clock. I was in a safe place, my body could relax a bit more. This chalkboard is used to remind us of things or for leaving cute messages for one another. Since the garage door was open, I wanted my husband to know I'm going to keep the house door locked, so I wrote "locked".
Because of the inner turmoil going on, my handwriting wasn't the best. I took a few seconds to rewrite the word... mistake.

Well sure, nobody with a name like Brian would be caught dead posting something like that, but have you heard of that one dude that used to be around here, Metalhed? He was so crazy for a while his own sister changed her forum name to disassociate herself.

A good way to get a lot of work done around the house on a lazy Sunday afternoon... Not have a cigarette since Saturday afternoon when you wasted the entire day playing video games instead of doing even a single thing you had planned.

You have to love natural selection in government employment opportunities. We wouldn't want to have the ugly intern representing our interests.

Jag wrote:Sounds like IBS which I was just definitively diagnosed with after suffering for 20 years.
Jag, the only reason that would make me happy is I would end up loosing weight
If the situation were more frequent I would tend to agree. I know that stress is a culprit of many things and I have no doubt that it played a factor. I know a few people with IBS but believe mine was a gassy, icky belly food situation the other day. Appreciate the comment
I'll keep it in mind if the rest of the week is iffy.

Looking at a hotel in Boise on a mobile app, which made a hilariously unfortunate choice in truncating the description
Situated near the airport, in the city center, this hotel is close to Boise Center, Idaho State Capitol Building, and Boise State University. Also nearby are Taco Bell
