Popped in to read up, cause I haven't checked in all day. Then, just like that, an hour is gone! Think I should write that email I wanted to before the clock turns into tomorrow.

It is now July 11th. Can we be done with the fireworks yet? I get it for a few days leading up to the 4th. I get it for a few days after. But do we really need to fire them off up to 2 weeks before and now a week later? That has been 3 weeks so far of fireworks going off until midnight on most nights.

Normally I wouldn't care, but for some reason, this year in particular, they are driving my dog nuts. She is pissing and shitting everywhere and I am forced to lock her into the bathroom to try and keep the mess contained. But then she whimpers and whines pitiously every time there is a snap, crackle or pop and it causes my wife and I to lose sleep from not only the fireworks noises, but also from the dog's whining.

So seriously, can we be done yet?

Luck to you. And it could be worse. You could live in (or next to) the ghetto.

You can at least take solace in the fact that someone likely paid an 12% local infrastructure tax in addition to a 6% sales tax on those fireworks and that 12% is supposed to be paid directly to local law enforcement and local fire departments.

And I think last night was the first night in three weeks I haven't heard them. I'm sure they'll be back for the weekend.

Next year swing by your vet in early June and ask for Alprazolam or similar doggy downer. We use it every year to keep our dogs from going apeshit during the 4th. It also works well for thunderstorms.

We used to have to do the same for our dog when I was a kid. Initially, she had no issues. But then one day, the transformer over our back yard exploded. She was skittish around loud noises every time after that. Made thunderstorm season in West Texas especially adventurous.

Her birthday was July 5th.

I just got through talking about this to a group of people I was eating with. What is up with the fireworks every night since June? Guess it's not specific to my neighborhood.

Everyone here in CO was very respectful of the fireban, so we didn't hear or see any fireworks before, during, or after.

After what's happened in CO recently, I imagine that if some dumb ass did send of fireworks the neighborhood would have descended upon him and he'd be found hanging from a tree in the morning.

I need to ask my wife something extremely important that she'll probably take extreme offense to. I've asked her to put on her best logic hat and try not to let her emotions get in the way of rational discussion. Keep your toes crossed for me.

Lord Mortis, of all people, posted something that made me write up a reply that struck me like a hammer of truth and now I know what's been bothering me at home for a while. I didn't post it, but what I wrote was like being slapped in the face by reality.

Don't go doing anything relationship based on my example whatever that may be. I've come to the long standing point of being happily single and there's just about nobody out there like me. I really don't play well with others while most people really want constant companionship.

Good luck with that! I haven't had much success with the logic approach lately. The keen grasp of the obvious that I am so proud of doesn't extend to my kids. Case in point, my oldest is angry because his mom gave him ten job applications last night.

Really?

You haven't had a job for two years and you're angry because she's nagging you to get a job? Then get a job, dumbass, and the nagging will stop.

Oh and have fun with the talk Mrs. Paingod. I will sacrifice some craft beers in your honor tonight.

Don't be so hard on your kid. It took me a while to piece everything together and my parents never really pushed the issue. If everything your kid wants is paid for by you and the wife, there's zero incentive to fill out 10 job applications. But I'm guessing you knew that.

No, no... you weren't giving advice. You said something that made me type a reply and I was going to say something about my wife, which ran on into a different sentence with an extrapolation of a thought - but suddenly, seeing it written there, I was shocked and felt I needed to actually express the way I felt to her and not a forum.

She's agreed to try and be logical and I've sent her the 2 page email explaining my feelings.

I was single for 6.5 years - from 20 to 26 - and found it to be a very relaxed life. I came out the other side a different person. I only stopped because I got tired of being alone, but it took a long time to get there.

That's some weak code. There's no way to hit the MindMyOwnDamnBusiness stop condition before the AskPaingodAboutIssue stop condition even if you stopped resetting it on every pass. The reset itself would be unnecessary if you would stop changing it. Also, setting the value of MorbidCuriousity every time is wasted cycles.
