We have always said two four two and that's a pretty big we of people I've known over the years, some of which have hobnobbed with WaxTrax bands and bands in the WaxTrax orbit crowd. I've never heard anyone say different. But now that you say it, I wouldn't bet real money that two four two is what it's supposed to be.

"Front Two For One"

Because they pretty much always came with Nitzer Ebb.

I had heard Nitzer Ebb songs when I first started getting into industrial, but had never seen their name written out anywhere.

For ages, I thought they were Knights of Reb.

Pictures and Videos for R&P

Post by Fretmute »

Purely as an aside, my dad was an airline pilot, and brought back Tyranny for You for me after a European trip when I was about 13. He said he heard it playing in a record store, and I always thought it was cool that he went so far outside of his classic rock wheelhouse.

Huge fan of that album.

[edit] - This may sound depressing. My dad is still kicking it. He’s just no longer an airline pilot.

One - You lock the target
Two - You bait the line
Three - You slowly spread the net
And four - You catch the man

Kinda fitting for a politics thread though.

Reminds me of the podcast I heard about Lincoln-Douglas debate in schools. If you fail to refute everything, you lose points.

Heh. I did LD debate for 6 years -- through 2nd year of University -- and this is mostly true. The 'refute everything' idea was way more true in Team Policy debate. Team policy debates essentially turned into micromachine type recitation of points with people furiously scribbling notes. It was the speed chess of debate.

LD was a bit more strategy/tactical blend. You could safely skip refuting an obviously weak argument to focus time on something with higher value. The time to make arguments was highly compressed so people would often drop a weaker argument and hope you'd chase it to waste time. In the end, the judge decided how much weight the argument had so you had to be able to read the judge. It was far more elegant IMO. At least as it was practiced in the early to mid 90s. :)

One reason I’m not a fan of legalizing marijuana was having 4 minutes to rebut 12 minutes of anti-legalization arguments in high school policy debate. Conflating arguments into multiple sub-points to still “respond” in sufficient detail and speed was excruciating. And i was damn good at it, too.

It did help that our college judges were often clearly biased. But the judge sponsored by Prison Town High was a guaranteed no-win ballot, and enough to block us from going to Nationals.

Yeah but how much did Trump's "campaign" make for Biden to gain 132 to votes in Wisconsin? Considerably more than 3M, I suspect. There are reports of over 150M raised since election day just to his Election Defense fund alone.

Sure but then again I don't care...since words have meanings. And it's a bullshit take anyway. He peddles conspiracy theories and garbage information. It truly isn't vetted because it can't be.

Perdue and Loeffler’s Well-Timed Stock Trades Give Georgia Democrats an Opening
Perdue used his position in the Senate to enrich himself and his wealthy donors. The stories follow the revelation from this spring that Perdue, a multi-millionaire, traded stocks following a private January briefing on the coronavirus at the same time he publicly downplayed the pandemic’s threat. If this sounds familiar, it’s because his colleague Sen. Kelly Loeffler (R-Ga.) did the same thing, sparking a Senate ethics investigation. Together, Perdue and Loeffler make a unique pair: two uber-rich senators whose wealth helped bring them power and put them in a position where they could make more money.
