This is definitely in the rules of live poker, but revealing this information is okay according to the rules of this tournament:Ralph-Wiggum wrote:It would be best to refrain from giving out your hand info until the hand is over.Animus wrote:Sigh...second recent hand that would've yielded at least a straight had a not folded pre-flop.
So don't feel bad Animus. The Meal, in the Etiquette section wrote:In-thread discussion of the play thus far is encouraged (and especially so for prior hands). The only text which is not permissible in the thread are quotes from PMs sent out by the judge. Players may lie about their hands, tell the truth about their holdings, or any number of misdirections. These comments are legal (and very counter to the things permissible in a live game).
This forum pOOker game is some bastardiziation hybrid between live poker, online poker, and adjustments to both that I think would make the game more interesting to observers.

In live (casino) poker, definitely. But in this tournament, think of admissions like that the same as someone (maybe at a home game) banging the table when they've folded but seen the flop. In online games, you'll frequently see people make the same claims as Animus did in the chat windows.Ralph-Wiggum wrote:But shouldn't such hand discussion (lying to gain an advantage, etc.) be kept only to those still in the hand?

And in banks across the world

And every other race, creed, colour, tint or hue
Get down on their knees and pray

Make up bags of change
But the monkey in the corner
Well he's slowly drifting out of range

Yeah, it sounds like one little addition may be in order for the new rules to work. After you post that you took action, adding a line at the bottom of your post that states "Action is now on: dinglenuts" means you sent dinglenuts a PM letting him know that he's next to act. If you don't put that line at the end of your action post, then folks are perfectly within their rights to badger you about not sending off that PM.

Post-HAND17 stats dump.
This is the last of the three types of stats dumps I'll do every ten hands. The most recent stats dump talked about how good folks' cards have been were they to see all seven cards. This stats dump will rank folks' hole cards in the traditional pre-flop sense. I used Poker Tracker to determine how well each hole card holding is expected to do against N random hands (where N is the number of opponents in the hand) if all hands see the river. As an example, against 9 opponents, pocket aces would be expected to hold up 31.07% of the time. Pocket kings in that situation should get the nod 26.10% of the time. At the other end of the spectrum, 7-2 offsuit is worth about 4.8% of the preflop equity. If you want to run similar simulations, download the software at www.pokerstove.com and perform your own monte carlo simulations (I tend to use 30+ million games for each run).
Average Preflop Equity
12.9% Ralph-Wiggum
11.9% RunningMn9
11.8% CSL (eliminated in HAND04)
11.5% Lord Mortis (eliminated in HAND11)
10.7% itaiyo
10.5% Austin
10.5% godhugh
9.8% hentzau
9.8% Animus
9.7% Pyperkub
It's fair to directly compare folks who've played in the same number of hands, but the expectation should be for CSL and Lord Mortis to have slightly lower preflop equity numbers, as they played their hands against more opponents. The fact that they still have relatively high numbers compared to the rest of the group means that they had relatively good looking cards, preflop.
Post-HAND20 the analysis will be back to looking at the percentages of pocket pairs dealt, suited and unsuited connectors, two "Broadway" cards, and pocket holdings which were suited.

So, in other words, I've had the worst pre-flop hands, but on the whole, they've averaged out to be the best river hands (based on the posts).
