Felix Silla, best known as the gibberish-spouting Cousin Itt on the 1960s TV sitcom The Addams Family, died today from pancreatic cancer. He was 84 and died in Las Vegas, according to a tweet from Gil Gerard, who costarred with him on the 1979-81 NBC series Buck Rogers in the 25th Century.
Silla donned a full-body hairpiece, sunglasses and a bowler hat to achieve the role of Cousin Itt, who could only be understood by members of the Addams Family, thanks to his strange mumbling. The role was one of several where Silla’s face went unseen, including appearances as robot Twiki on Buck Rogers and as a hang-gliding Ewok in Star Wars: Episode VI — Return of the Jedi.

Frankie Valli posted that Joe Long of The Four Seasons has passed away from COVID. Last year co founder Tommy DeVito died of COVID.
Joe Long wasn’t an original member of The Four Seasons. But he joined in 1965, when the group was still in its heyday, and remained a group member until 1975. When the group was inducted into the New Jersey Hall of Fame in 2018, he was inducted along with them.
Long — the grandson of Italian immigrants, born Joseph LaBracio in Elizabeth, in 1941 — has died at the age of 79, his friend Alfredo Nittoli posted on Facebook today. Nittoli had also posted, recently, about Long’s struggles with COVID.

Young. Didn't realize he wasn't much older than me. That song was big when I was in college. Danced to it a lot. RIP.

That song was popular while I was working as a bouncer, so I heard it all the time. I was always happy when it came on - a lot of the other stuff was awful, but the Humpty Dance was always a fun break.
RIP

I doubt I've heard that song in 20 years. Just pulled it up on YouTube and could still remember nearly every word.

I know that he Humpty Dance is how they became popular, but Doowutchyalike was actually first.
Again, RIP MC Blowfish and Piano Man.
Also, one of my favorites, and not because of the Octopus reference
Genuinely upsetting me today.

It was a daily jam in our first apartment. My wife and I had just gotten married and our place was the hang spot because a lot of our friends either lived in dorms or were still at home.
Everybody loved this album. My skater friends and my wife's artist friends and weird randos I worked with that would stop by. Everybody dug it because Funk.
Funk is the word
It's got a groove, it's got a meaning
Funk is the time, is the place, is the motion
Funk is the way we are feeling

Those albums are great. Listen to a lot of their stuff on the regular.
Wasn't really a fan of the humpty dance, but quite a bit of others I am.
Damn, RIP Shock G

Celebrated information security researcher Dan Kaminsky, known not just for his technical ability but also for his compassion and support for those in his industry, has died. He was 42.
Though Kaminsky rose to fame in 2008 for identifying a critical design weakness in the internet's infrastructure – and worked in secret with software developers to mitigate the issue before it could be easily exploited – he had worked behind the scenes in the infosec world for at least the past two decades.
When your Register hack asked Kaminsky why he hadn't gone to the dark side and used the flaw to become immensely wealthy – either by exploiting it to hijack millions of netizens' web traffic, or by selling details of it to the highest bidders – he said not only would that have been morally wrong, he didn't want his mom to have to visit him in prison. You can read more technical info on the DNS flaw here.
In a statement thanking everyone for their kind words, Kaminsky's family said he died as a result of diabetic ketoacidosis, and asked for privacy at this time.

Shit, 42 is way too young. At my last job, we had a CSO who had a PhD in computer security and was well known in the field...he died young from brain cancer.

In a sad sign of the times his niece had to post a note that his death had nothing to do with being vaccinated and instead was diabetic ketoacidosis. In any case, too young...I saw him several times at various Defcons and respected his expertise in DNS security issues in particular where his work was vital.

It always shocks me a little when somebody younger than me dies a natural death. I mean I'm in worse shape than most people any where near my age. How could they possibly go before me?

Olympia Dukakis dies at 89. I've only seen her in a couple of films, but when Moonstruck is one of those films, that's more than enough to know what an amazing talent she was.

Wonderful actress. Was in so many of my wife's movies that she loved. I guess I remember her best from the one my wife watched over and over and over..Steel Magnolias.

Billie Hays, better known as Winifred W. Witchiepoo on H. R. Puffinstuff, passed away this Monday.

I loved the scene in The Perils of Gwendolyn where our bound hero uses a reed as a blow gun to shoot a thorny bug into the eye of his captor. That's quality writing.

It was OJ.
I remember her from the 80s and the White Snake videos. Was very hot then. Lost all care for her when she publicly disparaged David Coverdale. Saw her a few years ago for some real life thing / show. She looked like she had done way too much surgery. RIP. Wonder what killed her though .
