Shrug.
Take it about as literally as the previous update he wrote about having had to recreate his book because the previous draft was destroyed by a ghost train, anyway.

Had a really strange dream the other night.

I was moving into the classic "house with the history of un explained murders". I walked into the attic/bedroom and furniture and clothes were strewn everywhere, closet doors were hanging open, obvious signs of a poltergeist. While I'm standing there, a white figure appears from behind a pile of furniture. Think one of the grey aliens, but with tiny eyes and a mouth of six inch glass fangs. Instead of being frightened (this is a nightmare, right) I ball up my fists and go after it. The look of evil malice becomes a look of fear as the monster realizes that I am not terrified like it's other victims and I proceed to beat the absolute Hell out of it-not just winning the contest, but pummeling it to a blubbery, crying mess.

You do know that it is the father of that particular "monster" you need to watch out for. He only killed the others after they had beaten up his young son.

Hans-Ulrich Rudel was one skilled mo'fo'r. A WW2 Stuka pilot.
Rudel flew 2,530 combat missions claiming a total of 2,000 targets destroyed; including 800 vehicles, 519 tanks, 150 artillery pieces, a destroyer, two cruisers, one Soviet battleship, 70 landing craft, 4 armored trains, several bridges and nine aircraft which he shot down

So, wait - was that a 'normal' bad dream for you (you kicking the bad's ass). When you said you had a really strange dream, I thought the strange part (non normal for you) was that a-typical reaction to a glass-toothed-deamo in the attic, no?

Or do you not normally dream glass teeth for the deamon?

It was a dream where it was supposed to be a nightmare, it had all the earmarks of what would have been a pretty terrifying nightmare. The disconcerting part was where I confronted the object of terror(normally) and manhandled it with ease. When it revealed itself, i could feel the fear rising, and the fear went away and I went after it like I was Dave Schultz or something.

That's almost like lucid dreaming, except it doesn't sound like you were consciously manipulating it.

The whole theme of the dream inverting itself was pretty strange. It must have something to do with waking life, although I'm not parsing the connection yet.

I'm dealing with it as a 3rd party through the tears of an affected child. My current advice isn't working and I'm fighting the urge to give what I know will work (sweep the leg, shatter his knee and he'll drop like a stone, etc...) because she's not even seven yet.

Dealing with it directly? Good on you sir.

I had a similar nightmare when I was in my teens. I turned around and beat the crap out of what was supposed to frighten me and I don't think I ever have had a scary dream like that since. I've always wondered if I had mastered that particular hurdle in my subconscious so I was never bothered by scary dreams after that.
That's no reason to cry. One cries because one is sad. For example, I cry because others are stupid, and that makes me sad.

Did you get your own scotch-tape dispenser? A coffee mug with your name right on it? Can you bend paper clips into the shape of small animals? If you smell jelly donuts, it might be your lucky day.

Yes
A coffee mug with your name right on it?
I use the same coffee mug I got from the temp agency that placed me 15 years ago.
Can you bend paper clips into the shape of small animals?
No but we I used to half of a duo that made gummi eraser animals and leave them laying around many many years ago.
If you smell jelly donuts, it might be your lucky day.
I will be very very far from the kitchen and that will make it lucky. I won't get hungry from the good smelling stuff and I become nauseated at things like people microwaving fish.

But I won't see people any more. My social skills are already... lacking. Locking me away by myself in the back of building with the rarely used labs is going to be interesting. I am pretty much going to become a complete hermit in suburbia.

The real question is did he get a stapler?

I grabbed both Borderlands 2 and Torchlight 2 today, while still being fully under the spell of Guild Wars 2 and having barely even touched The Last Story (one of only two games for which I purchased a Wii). Oh yeah, I grabbed the World Ends With You port on iPad as well. What the hell was I thinking?

We just had this high-end grocery store open up down at the end of our street this week. While I'm not looking forward to the influx of traffic it will bring to our mostly quiet neighborhood, they have an actual sushi bar in the restaurant. I got to sample some of their wares today, it was really, really good. Since no one else in my family will eat sushi, this is really great for me.

But this isn't "grocery store sushi", like the pre-packaged stuff that you get in the clamshell cases. This is a sushi bar inside the grocery store, and they make everything fresh for you right there. So not quite the same. I had some samples and they tasted better and fresher than a lot of regular Japanese restaurants I've been to.
