This was actually on the front page of Fox News. It wasn't the headline, but it was there. Color me surprised.

Well . . . there's your candidate, religious right, and family values voters, and evangelicals, and women, and decent human beings.

Can they really vote for him after this? He can't run away from this. And it's not locker room banter - it was said to a reporter (granted, an Access Hollywood reporter).

Captain Caveman wrote:I'm pretty sure most people already realized Trump was a philandering scumbag, but having it on tape does make it a bit more real. And even more damaging is his bragging about using his celebrity and power to kiss and fondle women. I'm guessing that's the angle that's going to hurt him the most.

I'll be really curious to see how other GOP leaders respond. Paul Ryan is set to campaign with Trump tomorrow...

So, this brings an interesting option for the Sunday night debates.

Is 'grabbing pussy' clean enough to even expose to the public at large - and ask him to answer to?
Holy cow.
Trump is such creep, to show it all to the public; ones at risk of seeming totally vulgar.

I like the comment on Reddit,
Paul Ryan, soon: "I do not support grabbing women by the pussy, but I fully support the Republican candidate for President."
And seriously, wtf. The Donald just admitted sexual assault, I hope some starlet he fondled now sues him and this can help establish precedent that the wannabe president is a proto-dick.

I actually believe him when he says this. I don't know why. And it definitely changes my view of Bill. But as the CNN talking head said, Bill's already been president. It doesn't matter what he did or didn't do at this point. This is about Drumpf.

As Caveman said, people already knew he was gross. Hopefully having evidence playing 24 hours a day for the next few days will actually have some sort of impact on his supporters.

I wouldn't hold my breath though.

Wow. Has PETA complained about his treatments of cats yet?

One of his ex-wives filed rape charges against him. Disgraced Fox CEO Roger Ailes left Fox only to immediately join Drumpf's organization. That alone would sink a normal politician, but with Drumpf, it's not even on the radar because of all the other ludicrous scandals he's involved in on a nearly daily basis.

This matches what we've heard the "real" Drumpf is like over and over again. I hope this buries him.

The obvious defense is to claim that it's a Bad Lip Reading video that was commissioned by the Clinton campaign.

They don't care. They just don't.

My FB is full of Evangelicals who wanted Walker or Cruz and took a while to settle for Trump, but all that matters is that he's the anti-Hillary. They would vote for Charles Manson if he guaranteed a new Scalia.

What's wonderfully ironic is that this hot mic tape came out, what, less than 24 hours after Trump tried to dismiss all his public misogyny as "just entertainment."

Holy cow.
Trump is such creep, to show it all to the public; ones at risk of seeming totally vulgar.
The BBC (who actually quoted him verbatim, with no euphemisms) seems to believe that it will come up on Sunday.
Donald Trump has often found himself in hot water for public comments he's made about women over the years. It turns out he's said lewd and disparaging things in private as well. Go figure.

The videotape release comes at a most inopportune time for the Republican nominee, who was trying to use his running mate's well-received debate performance on Tuesday to reboot his campaign after a week of distractions and controversy. On Wednesday he told a local news interviewer that his previous offensive comments about women - which have dogged his campaign since the first Republican primary debate last August - were made for the "purpose of entertainment".

That explanation doesn't fit with the boorish, newly married Trump shown on the video privately boasting about his efforts to seduce a married woman and have his way with whomever he pleases.

Now Mr Trump will enter Sunday's debate with a new cloud hanging over his candidacy. It's almost certain that one of the town hall participants will ask him about it. There may be no easy way to respond - but Mr Trump will have to find an acceptable answer. If he bungles it, everything else he says during the 90-minute debate won't matter.
For a normal debate, I don't see a moderator bringing it up. With the town-hall format, I guess it depends on whether someone in the audience has the cojones to stand up and call him out on it.

The moderators are Anderson Cooper and Martha Raddatz. I could see either one of them referencing the hot mic tape in the context of electoral questions about Trump and female supporters. The difference now is that Trump can't easily evade the issue with a quip or a simple pivot. He'll feel cornered, so he'll double down and probably attack Bill pretty harshly. You can be sure Hillary is prepared to make him pay for that.

The story Monday morning will be Trump blasting the moderators as biased. Good. I hope they're biased as hell, just the way reality is biased.

CNN had his PR person defending it. It wasn't as fun as I thought it would be. She just kept bringing the topic back around to Drumpf believes he can fix the problems he sees with America and that's why he's running.

It was actually pretty decent defense of the indefensible. I mean, none of what she said mattered or were even related to the scandal, but she kept the conversation from getting any deeper than "here are the scary words he said". If she can keep voters from actually thinking about what those words mean in the greater context of what sort of man Drumpf is, it will blunt the scandal significantly.

It's not like the word "pussy" is overly scary all by itself, and certain not with regard to people who already support him.

IIUC, the questions submitted to the Town Hall cannot name candidates, and have to be a question that can be asked of either candidate (IIUC, the questioner won't know which one it's asked of)

CNN was playing it in its entirety with no editing and only a mild warning.

And it mostly is locker room banter, from 15 year olds who haven't had an actual relationship with a woman or maturity to understand that other people are actually people too and not just things in your universe that you interact with.

Sure, I bet a lot of grown men speak like that too, but I wouldn't elect any of them to the presidency either.

Tomorrow's Ryan-Trump appearance in Wisconsin is actually a Ryan event. Ryan just announced that Trump won't be attending.
“I am sickened by what I heard today,” Ryan said in a statement. “Women are to be championed and revered, not objectified. I hope Mr. Trump treats this situation with the seriousness it deserves and works to demonstrate to the country that he has greater respect for women than this clip suggests. In the meantime, he is no longer attending tomorrow’s event in Wisconsin.”
The odd language aside ("Women are to be championed and revered" by whom? Are women not part of Ryan's audience?), it appears that Trump has been kicked rather than withdrawing by choice.

Interestingly, Pence will be taking his place. And now Huntsman, who had just begrudgingly endorsed Trump ten days ago, has called for Trump to drop out and let Pence run in his place.

Even though I should know better, I really think this story is going to be fatal to Trump unless there is some new amazing bomb about Clinton released. Imagine the popcorn if Pence stepped down as Trump's VP choice. :pop: :pop:

Damn, even The Turtle is blasting Trump over his comments. We are truly through the looking glass.
McConnell joined a growing list of Senate Republicans who sought to distance themselves from Trump's comments Friday night.

"These comments are repugnant, and unacceptable in any circumstance," McConnell said. "As the father of three daughters, I strongly believe that Trump needs to apologize directly to women and girls everywhere, and take full responsibility for the utter lack of respect for women shown in his comments on that tape."

This crossed my mind as well. And there might not be enough time before the election to get all Pence's skeletons out in the open for everyone to be shocked by. While he's probably better than Drumpf, he's not good.

My scenario was more that Pence would step down, go to Ryan's fundraiser and announce he and Ryan agree that blah, de blah. Ultimate power move, firing the Donald.
