Re: Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE)
Trump administration agrees to restrict DOGE access to Treasury Department payment systems
Attorneys for the Justice Department have agreed to temporarily restrict staffers associated with Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency from accessing information in the Treasury Department’s payment system.
The agreement comes after a group of union members and retirees sued the Treasury Department alleging that providing DOGE access to the federal government’s massive payment and collections system — and the personal data housed in it — violated federal privacy laws.
The Trump administration filed a motion Wednesday night seeking to enter a proposed order that detailed the agreed-upon terms.
"The Defendants will not provide access to any payment record or payment system of records maintained by or within the Bureau of the Fiscal Service," the proposed order says.
The order would allow exceptions for two special government employees at the Treasury — Tom Krause and Marko Elez — saying they are permitted access "as needed" to perform their duties, "provided that such access to payment records will be 'read only.'"
U.S. District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly signed off on the agreement Thursday morning. The agreement will stay in place until she rules on the plaintiffs' request for a preliminary injunction, which will be the subject of a Feb. 24 hearing.
It's almost as if people are the problem.

Re: Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE)
Everything is going great:
Targeting DoE right now:Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) is letting artificial intelligence decide what ends up on the chopping block in the Department of Education, according to sources.
The Washington Post reported that Musk’s goon squad is leaning on AI to probe sensitive federal data, which includes personally identifiable information on who manages what grants, programs, as well as financial information, such as work trip expenses.
According to two sources who spoke to the Post on condition of anonymity, fearing reprisal, the AI software is accessed through Microsoft’s cloud Azure computing service. And staffers were instructed not to impede the team’s efforts.
In a Thursday statement, Madi Biedermann, deputy assistant secretary for communications at the Education Department, vouched for DOGE representatives as federal employees who have been mandated to probe the department for cuts.
Biermann said they are “focused on making the Department more cost-efficient, effective, and accountable to the taxpayers.” She added, “There is nothing inappropriate or nefarious going on.”
Yet Alondra Nelson, who has worked on AI policy at the White House’s Office of Science and Technology Policy under the Biden administration, expressed concern about the lack of guardrails put on the technology.
“Do we want these tools unleashed in government and society without guardrails?” she told the Post. “There’s a lot of concern and mistrust about the use of AI in American society.”

I figured he was just scraping all the data to be sold/used at some point in the future and installing tools to gain future remote access.
Doing something with the data? I didn't think that was the point. Not yet, at least. But yeah, using AI schlock to reach an end goal makes sense. If you have three Rs in your name, maybe it won't detect you.

Now infiltrating - the Department of Energy
A representative from Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, was granted access to the Energy Department’s IT system on Wednesday by Energy Secretary Chris Wright, two people with knowledge of the situation told CNN.
Wright granted access to DOGE representative Luke Farritor — a 23-year-old former SpaceX intern — even over objections from members of the department’s general counsel and chief information offices, the people told CNN. The DOE chief information office is the department’s IT and cybersecurity office.
...
Farritor was granted access to basic IT including email and Microsoft 365, one of the people said. The chief information office only does a small amount of IT and cybersecurity work for the National Nuclear Security Administration, they said, including providing connectivity and running basic internet services for NNSA’s headquarters. It does not run IT systems for the nuclear agency’s labs controlling the nation’s nuclear stockpile.

The Wall Street Journal reported on a number of 2024 posts from an account connected to Elez on Musk's X platform and noted that White House officials confirmed his resignation after the paper pointed out Elez's activity on the social media site.
"You could not pay me to marry outside of my ethnicity," the account wrote in September. "Normalize Indian hate," a separate post from that month read.
In July of last year, the account posted: "Just for the record, I was racist before it was cool."
In other posts, from December, the account pushed for repealing the Civil Rights Act and shared: "I just want a eugenic immigration policy, is that too much to ask."

If they really cared about government efficiency, DOGE would ADD staffing so calling the IRS to confirm tax payment wouldn’t take 40-60 minutes of hold time. They cashed clients $750,000+ check but didn’t credit to his account or identify the return as filed.

They don't (care about Government efficiency). the stuff they are gutting is minimal WRT the budget. What they care about is creating a private industry monopoly substitute which will cost a LOT more, in order to extract value.Zarathud wrote: Fri Feb 07, 2025 12:14 pm If they really cared about government efficiency, DOGE would ADD staffing so calling the IRS to confirm tax payment wouldn’t take 40-60 minutes of hold time. Tariffs are a preferred method for extracting wealth from the masses and distributing it to the elite who own all those things. The duped serfs don't even know that they're funding it, because it's drilled into their head that the tariffs are being paid by foreigners. It's just that everything is expensive (because Emmanuel Goldstein) and you have to work that much harder to keep your head above water, but at least the government doesn't tax what you make.LordMortis wrote: Fri Feb 07, 2025 1:25 pm Who needs tariffs once you privatize the military and roads and police and sanitation and water and fire and the courts protection agencies and...

I'd say that maybe a person who's vocal about such views shouldn't work in the Federal government which is supposed to represent all Americans. But that was before January 20. He's all good now since the Federal government now represents all the good Americans. You know who they are. An unapologetic racist reviewing government programs. Welcome to the new normal.“Here’s my view: I obviously disagree with some of Elez’s posts, but I don’t think stupid social media activity should ruin a kid’s life,” Vance wrote in a tweet.
“We shouldn’t reward journalists who try to destroy people. Ever,” said Vance, referring to the fact that The Wall Street Journal on Thursday exposed Elez’s connection to an X account that made the inflammatory tweets.
“So I say bring him back,” Vance wrote. “If he’s a bad dude or a terrible member of the team, fire him for that.”
